Chapter 167 First Impressions

The voice was neither too loud nor too soft, enough for most of the audience to hear. As soon as he said this, no one had the time to watch the game anymore; everyone turned their attention to Wenmer, who was just about to return to his seat.

"Wenmo..."

Xia Lian also looked over, her eyes filled with worry. She hadn't expected her cousin to be so brave, saying such incredible things on the spot.

Fortunately, most people just took it as a joke and no one would think about it that way. After all, orthopedics is a very rare thing, and even if it were true, no one would shout it out in public.

Unfortunately, they were wrong; Winmer is indeed a strange character.

"Feels much better, hehehe~"

Wen Mo hummed a little tune as he sat back down, completely ignoring the stares around him, acting as if he were invisible, and continued playing on his phone as if nothing was wrong.

Anyway, everyone will forget about it in a while, and nobody will remember it.

"President, are you jealous? Just because so many people like Xiao Lian?" Yin Tao grinned from ear to ear, leaning her face close to Xia Lian's and peeking out at Wen Mo with a mischievous smile.

"Yes, I'm jealous. I hate the way people look at Xiaolian." Wen Mo shrugged indifferently.

"You really do like Xiao Lian, huh? Hehe."

Yin Tao rested her head on Xia Lian's shoulder and wrapped her arms around her, the unique fragrance of young girls mingling between them.

"Of course, didn't I already say that she's my favorite?"

How much do you like it?

"The kind of love where I want her to stay with me for the rest of her life."

"Isn't that a bit too possessive?!"

Wen Mo and Yin Tao chatted excitedly about this, having long since lost interest in the basketball game on the court.

As the basketball game ended, Wen Mo and Yin Tao stretched in unison, their eyes gradually relaxing.

"Alright, let's go back to the classroom," he said, then instinctively took the little hand beside him.

Xia Lian was stunned for a few seconds, but quickly let go of that hand.

Wenmo seemed to realize he had made a mistake, nodded calmly, and secretly withdrew his outstretched hand as if nothing had happened.

The two had reached a level of tacit understanding that was beyond words; sometimes, they only needed a glance to understand what the other was thinking.

Even so, this little trick was still clearly seen by one person.

Yin Tao yawned and skipped around Ye Qingzhou with a smile until they reached the teaching building, at which point Xia Lian and Wen Mo slowly separated.

"Pay attention in class and don't play on your phone," Wen Mo instructed, though he himself couldn't even do it.

"Okay, I understand."

"Also, text me if anything happens." Wen Mo repeatedly reminded them, and finally looked up at the two childhood sweethearts with a gentle smile, "I'll have to trouble you two to keep an eye on this girl for me."

"Oh, it's alright, it's alright. President, you should go to class. We'll stay with Xiaolian." Yin Tao put her arm around Xia Lian's shoulder and wiped her nose.

Hearing this, Wen Mo felt relieved and started walking upstairs step by step. When he looked back and could barely see anyone, he secretly glanced at them before continuing upstairs.

"Alright, class is about to start. Ugh, so annoying." Yin Tao complained, leading Xia Lian into the classroom first, leaving Ye Qingzhou alone outside, lost in thought.

Ye Qingzhou frowned slightly and pinched his chin.

He saw those little actions very clearly, and he could almost feel that they were subconscious behaviors. Whether it was wanting to hold hands or looking back before leaving, they were all subconscious actions.

"Qingzhou, what are you doing? Come in quickly." Yin Tao greeted her with a strange expression.

Ye Qingzhou did not answer, but simply nodded.

As if he had thought of some possibility, the expression on his face was incredibly interesting.

"You're really something..."

...

Even after school, they maintained a distance from each other. Xia Lian walked on the inside of the road, while Wen Mo stood guard on either side like a bodyguard, glancing at the surrounding crowd from time to time.

It wasn't until they turned into an ordinary alley that the two of them, who had been maintaining a composed demeanor, returned to normal. Xia Lian gently leaned against his side and hugged his arm.

Wen Mo felt a little embarrassed, but holding hands was more practical. However, he didn't dare to object and could only let Xia Lian continue to hold his arm.

However, to be fair, this kind of thing has a unique charm. Although you can't feel any softness at all, it's surprisingly warm.

"You seem to have changed a lot," Wen Mo couldn't help but say.

There are very few pedestrians on the side streets, with only a few people passing by occasionally. On the main road, they are afraid of running into acquaintances, so the two little ones always keep their distance and go home together.

But on the side streets, one can let loose and do whatever one wants, which is a guarantee that the two agreed upon in advance.

"I've changed so much?"

Xia Lian didn't quite understand, and blankly repeated the sentence, tightly hugging Wen Mo's arm, feeling his body temperature even through his hoodie.

"Yes, when I first met you, you seemed unapproachable, and you didn't show much expression on your face. I always wondered if I had done something wrong, which is why you were always angry."

Wenmer couldn't help but chuckle, recalling the scene as rather amusing.

Compared to the Xia Lian of today, the Xia Lian of the past appeared to be cold and aloof, but she was actually quite socially anxious, timid, and easily embarrassed.

Fortunately, things have changed a little bit now. He can talk to others now, and his facial expressions are no longer so monotonous. He will occasionally smile when he is happy, although that smile is very faint.

"I'm not angry."

"I know, but you were frowning the whole time, and I kept thinking I did something wrong to make you angry."

Xia Lian lowered her head, pouting with a wronged look, "I was quite scared at the time."

What are you afraid of?

"Because it was our first meeting... I was afraid of Wen Mo, he's a terrible person." Xia Lian said, enunciating each word clearly, recounting her feelings at that time.

Wen Mo listened as he walked, occasionally frowning slightly, but he quickly understood why she was afraid.

After all, she's a girl, and if her roommate is really a beast, she really won't have any power to resist, since she's essentially been adopted.

“But I’m not scared now.” Xia Lian suddenly raised her head and stared straight at him. “Wen Mo is a very good person. I like Wen Mo very much.”

"Now you realize I'm such a good person." Wen Mo put on a displeased expression, but was actually overjoyed inside. It felt so good to be praised!

“Speaking of which, I also felt something was strange when I first met you.” Wen Mo gestured with his other hand, “It was when you were sitting in the hallway.”

"Very strange?"

“Yes, how should I describe it…” Wen Mo scratched his head, a little embarrassed, and said, “I thought you were a female ghost at the time, because you spoke so scary.”
