Chapter 181: Rebellion

Under the hazy moonlight, Tian Fu was driving his carriage at high speed on the mountain road. Suddenly, the sound of horse hooves came faintly from behind him.

"Sister, did Second Brother regret it and send someone to chase us back?"

Gu Tingji realized that something was wrong and hurriedly asked Gu Qingmian.

Gu Qingmian hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly ordered Tian Fu, "Uncle Tian, please hurry up."

Tian Fu was about to speed up by waving his whip when a large black horse suddenly appeared on the mountain road ahead and blocked his way.

Tian Fu was so frightened that he quickly pulled the reins of his horse, drew his sword from his waist, and pointed it at the person blocking his way: "Who is so bold?"

"Uncle Tian, it's me." Gu Tingzhou quickly jumped off his horse and hurriedly ordered, "Take Qingmian and Tingji and ride on my horse to Yuezhou from the side path."

Hearing the eldest son's voice, Tian Fu relaxed his guard.

Hearing the sound of horse hooves getting closer and closer from behind, Gu Tingzhou didn't have time to explain anything. He got into the carriage and pulled Gu Qingmian and Gu Tingji out.

Looking at the indifferent siblings, he gently warned them, "Don't ask any questions. When you get to Yuezhou, you'll be accepted by someone who will treat you better than your eldest and second brothers. Just wait in Yuezhou. Your eldest brother will bring your cousin to meet you."

Without waiting for the brother and sister to react, Gu Tingzhou hurriedly carried them onto his horse and said to Tian Fu, "Take good care of the third lady and the fourth master."

Tian Fu did not dare to delay, and rode his horse to protect the brother and sister and galloped towards another path.

After seeing several people disappear into the night, Gu Tingzhou got on the carriage and continued heading up the mountain.

......

Yuezhou, inside the Yongning Palace

Fu Mingchi was depressed for a whole month. As the Mid-Autumn Festival was approaching and her son's condition was getting worse, Concubine Zhang had no choice but to take Fu Yunni to the temple to pray every day.

On this day, Concubine Zhang and Fu Yunni had just returned to the palace from the temple when they saw Zhu Wencai leading a team of spies stopping in front of the palace gate.

Pulling Fu Yunni down from the carriage, she anxiously asked, "How is it going? Have you found out anything about the situation in Lin'an?"

"Your Highness, the imperial court has issued an order for the Marquis Dingyuan's wife to lead the Mu family army to retreat to Xiling Pass to cultivate farmland." Zhu Wencai handed a letter to the Marquis Zhang. "This is the letter that the Marquis Dingyuan's wife sent back."

Concubine Zhang nodded with relief: "Quickly take the letter to Qingqing and tell her the good news."

These days, the brother and sister are worried about their lover and their mother respectively, and they are depressed all day long, which makes them very tired.

Zhu Wencai was about to enter the palace when Concubine Zhang suddenly stopped him again: "How is that girl Wanwan? Have you heard any news about her?"

Zhu Wencai's eyes froze for a moment before he clasped his fists and said, "I heard that the imperial court has canonized Miss Ye as Princess Jinghe and is preparing to send Miss Ye to the northern border to marry."

"Marriage?"

Concubine Zhang immediately understood that the girl had cruelly left Yuezhou in order to rescue the Mu family army.

Thinking about Gu An's withdrawal of troops, all her previous doubts were resolved at this moment.

It wasn't that Gu An was frightened by his son, it was clearly that the girl used her freedom in exchange for the imperial court's withdrawal of troops.

Seeing the concubine looking thoughtful, Zhu Wencai asked hesitantly, "Concubine, should we keep this matter secret from His Highness for the time being?"

"What are you hiding?" Concubine Zhang said dissatisfiedly, "If he can't even protect his own woman, how can he be the king of Yuezhou?"

After saying this, he snatched the letter back, excitedly hugged his daughter and walked inside.

"Mother, is my brother's soul coming back?" Fu Yunni looked at her mother and asked happily.

"If his soul doesn't come back, your sister-in-law will never come back." Concubine Zhang joked with a smile.

The mother and daughter arrived at Fu Mingchi's courtyard and saw Yu Bai and Yan Jin defending the Langfang entrance. Fu Yunni asked excitedly, "Where's my eldest brother?"

The two exchanged a glance, and Yan Jin replied with a bitter face, "Reporting to the Concubine Dowager and Princess, His Highness has locked himself in his room for half a month and won't let anyone see him."

Concubine Zhang's heart tightened. She put her daughter down, strode to the door of the room, kicked it open with a fierce kick, and the room full of feng shui maps immediately came into view.

"Mingchi, you, what are you doing?" Concubine Zhang asked in surprise.

Fu Mingchi turned around slowly and replied calmly, "The route of advance."

"You...are you really planning a rebellion?" Concubine Zhang raised her eyebrows.

"Please forgive me, mother."

Fu Mingchi took a deep breath and slowly knelt down. "Wan'er has lived a miserable life since childhood. Gu Tingchen would rather force Wan'er to jump off a building than let her go. If the Gu family really threatens her aunt and cousins to force her to return to Lin'an, her life will be even more difficult than before. I cannot bear to see her suffer in Lin'an."

Concubine Zhang nodded with satisfaction: "You have lived up to that girl's love for you."

Fu Yunni smiled and handed over the letter in her hand: "Brother, you will understand everything after reading the letter brought back by my aunt. My sister-in-law has never let you down, let alone our Yongning Palace."

Fu Mingchi quickly took the letter, opened it and read it carefully, and the gloom on his face immediately dissipated.

"It turns out that my Wan'er is not after that scholar. She has always been plotting for my sake."

Thinking of how cruelly she was treated on the city wall of Huizhou, Fu Mingchi felt his heart ripped apart with unbearable pain: "I am too foolish. I should have thought that she would accompany me through thick and thin in Qizhou. How could she abandon me just because the imperial army was approaching?"

"Go ahead, Mingchi, and do what you want." Looking at the feng shui charts filling the room, Concubine Zhang had no intention of stopping him. She encouraged him wholeheartedly, "Even if it means our Yongning Palace will be branded as a traitor for eternity, Wan'er is worth the gamble."
