Chapter 194: Escape with the Emperor

Ye Wanshu glanced at Liu Zhang who followed in. She knew that today, whether she was willing or not, Liu Zhang would force the emperor to drink this pot of wine.

She vaguely remembered that the Ma Bingsi was very close to this place, and the only way now was to make a bigger noise to attract the Ma Bingsi to come to the rescue.

Looking at Emperor Zhaolie's questioning eyes, Ye Wanshu raised the wine jug, tilted her hand, and the wine slowly flowed out from the mouth of the jug.

"Your Majesty, you're joking. Although my father's personal morality has always been criticized, he knows his limits when it comes to major issues."

Seeing the poisoned wine poured out by the cousin in an instant, Liu Zhang was furious and hurried forward to stop her: "Cousin, don't you know what you are doing? If you are so stubborn, the Queen Mother and Prince Daoan will definitely not tolerate you."

"Of course I know what I'm doing." Ye Wanshu smiled calmly, "Liu Zhang, as long as I'm still breathing, don't even think about touching His Majesty."

After that, she grabbed a sword and put it to her neck. She said sternly, "You and your master just want to kill someone with a borrowed knife, but my knife is not as effective as you think."

"Cousin, why are you doing this?" Liu Zhang sneered. "I know Prince Daoan has deep feelings for you, but for the sake of the Empress and Prince Daoan's cause, if you insist on protecting Emperor Zhaolie, I am willing to die with you."

Glancing around at the densely packed guards, his eyes lit up with even more sarcasm. "But my dear cousin, think carefully. Even if you choose to die with honor, it won't change the outcome."

Just as he finished speaking, a faint cold sneer suddenly came from outside the door.

"Really? What if I'm included?"

Everyone turned their heads and saw Gu Tingzhou leading a large group of people striding towards them.

Seeing the sword Ye Wanshu held against her neck, Gu Tingzhou turned pale with fright and hurried forward to grab the sword.

"Wanwan, don't do anything stupid. Let's protect His Majesty and leave here first." Gu Tingzhou advised.

"Why are you here?" Ye Wanshu looked at him worriedly.

Last night, I asked him to go find his father to persuade Han Jin, hoping that he could stay away from trouble today. He insisted on coming, and if he was discovered by Gu Tingchen, he would surely die.

"When I saw Liu Zhang bringing you to the Yangxin Palace, I sensed something was amiss." Gu Tingzhou finished his explanation and glared at Liu Zhang in dissatisfaction. "I didn't expect my second brother to have such malicious intentions."

"My Lord, I urge you to reconsider." Liu Zhang frowned. "Don't think His Highness doesn't know what you've done. He only tolerates you because of your status as Duke. Don't be so stubborn any longer."

Gu Tingzhou ignored him and looked directly at Emperor Zhaolie, smiling slightly. "Your Majesty, since Prince Daoan has murderous intentions towards you, you cannot remain in the palace any longer. Princess Jinghe and I will escort you out of the palace."

After saying this, he stepped forward, helped Emperor Zhaolie up and was about to go out.

Liu Zhang quickly drew his sword and stopped everyone: "With this general here, no one of you can leave the Yangxin Palace today."

"Liu Zhang, at this moment you shouldn't be concerned about an abdicated emperor, but should be worried about the safety of the empress dowager and Prince Daoan?" Gu Tingzhou looked outside the hall and heard the faint sound of horse hooves.

He knew that Ma Junsi had already started to act.

Liu Zhang listened carefully and immediately sensed something was amiss. He asked cautiously, "What do you mean, Master? Whose cavalry broke into the palace?"

Gu Tingzhou smiled faintly and said, "You guys are doing evil things, but haven't you ever been wary of Prince Qi?"

After saying this, he immediately ordered Ye Wanshu, "Wanwan, let's go."

Hearing the sound of horse hooves getting closer outside, Ye Wanshu realized that this was the best time to take the emperor away, and she supported the emperor as they walked out.

Liu Zhang was not aware of the situation outside, and he and his guards retreated cautiously, holding their swords. When they reached the outside of the Hall of Mental Cultivation, they saw the Cavalry Division's men surrounding them in a mighty force.

"Liu Zhang, I'm here on the orders of King Qi to purge the emperor's court. Put down your sword immediately." Commander Xue Ren scolded bluntly.

Just as Liu Zhang was at a loss, he suddenly saw a large number of archers pouring out from the palace walls and surrounding the entire Yangxin Palace.

Immediately afterwards, a steady stream of Royal Guards rushed in from the corridors all around.

Ye Wanshu saw Gu Tingchen from a distance and immediately felt something was wrong.

"Did Prince Qi not enter the palace?" the emperor asked Ye Wanshu in a low voice.

Ye Wanshu also found it very strange. Today was Prince Qi's only chance. If he missed today, he would have no chance of winning.

Gu Tingzhou also glanced at Xue Ren in confusion, and Xue Ren just shook his head silently.

"Prince Qi shouldn't be so foolish," Gu Tingzhou said, "I agreed with him to start the rebellion at noon, so logically he should have entered the palace."

"I'm afraid he's still waiting and watching," Ye Wanshu speculated.

"Don't worry, Wanwan. I will definitely force him to take action today."

Gu Tingzhou picked up his sword and shouted at Xue Ren, "Old Xue, today we must purge Prince Qi's court."

"Gu Tingzhou, you really don't know how to live or die."

Gu Tingchen roared with sinister eyes, then turned to look at Ye Wanshu with a sharp gaze: "Wanwan, I will forgive you for killing the old emperor who was beside you. I will still marry you tomorrow, and you will still be the princess of my prince Daoan."

"Don't even think about it." Ye Wanshu stood in front of the emperor and said sternly, "Gu Tingchen, even if I die today, I will never have anything to do with a demon like you again."

"Wanwan, take His Majesty back to the palace first. As long as we can delay for two hours, Prince Qi will definitely lead his troops into the palace." Gu Tingzhou gave the instructions, and then he and Xue Ren led the people from the Cavalry Division to charge forward.
