Chapter 195 Farewell

Outside the south city of Lin'an, Fu Mingchi and his three thousand men had gathered at the foot of the city.

Looking at the towering and solid city walls, Fu Mingchi felt a chill in his heart.

If Han Jin had not sent someone to deliver the letter early in the morning, it would have been difficult for him to attack the city with the few men he had.

"Yan Jin, ask Han Jin to open the city gate," Fu Mingchi ordered.

Yan Jin just rode his horse forward and shouted towards the city wall, and then he saw dense swarms of archers emerging from inside the city wall.

Fu Mingchi looked over and recognized Ji Yunze standing in the middle.

"Prince Yongning, you are truly audacious, daring enough to enter Lin'an without permission."

Ji Yunze pulled the bound Han Jin toward him and said with a smile, "Do you think that little trick you and the Prime Minister played could be hidden from everyone?"

After saying this, he immediately boasted to the commander of the Shenwei Army beside him: "General Qian, now you should finally believe what I say."

"The champion scholar is truly a master of his craft." Commander Qian glared at Han Jin fiercely. When he turned to Fu Mingchi, his eyes were filled with doubt. "Your Highness, since you volunteered to go to the northern border to defend against the enemy, how could you come to Lin'an without permission? Isn't that deceiving the emperor?"

Fu Mingchi was worried about Wan'er's safety at this time, but he felt helpless when he saw the archers on the top of the city wall.

Clenching his fists secretly, he could only patiently shout towards the top of the city wall, "Ji Yunze, Prince Qi will definitely rebel. Wan'er has also entered the palace today. How can you bear to see her and Your Majesty suffer humiliation in the palace?"

"The spies I sent here just left the palace. There's nothing unusual going on in the palace. Your Highness, why are you deceiving yourself?"

Ji Yunze sneered, "If you quickly retreat to Yuezhou, I can pretend that what happened today never happened. As for the princess, I will find a way to rescue her, so Your Highness doesn't need to worry about it."

Fu Mingchi shook his head helplessly and ordered Zhu Wencai and Yan Jin: "Attack the city."

As Zhu Wencai and Yan Jin drew their swords, Ji Yunze signaled the crossbowmen to draw their bows and arrows. "Prince Yongning, think carefully. I know you are quite capable, but today's Lin'an City is not Huizhou, and I am not the Duke of Rong. If you dare to take another step forward, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Looking at the archers standing ready on the city walls and the extremely thick walls, Fu Mingchi knew that it would not be easy to attack the city.

But when he thought that Wan'er was still in the palace, he felt extremely uneasy.

Fu Mingchi plunged his spear into the ground fiercely, his eyes steadfast as he said, "Even if all of us die fighting under Lin'an City today, we will not allow the princess and His Majesty to suffer any harm."

"I will obey your orders."

Zhu Wencai had followed him for many years and knew his methods of attacking cities best. As long as he could help His Highness reach the top of the city walls, even the strongest cities would be as easy as walking on flat ground.

Ten death squads were quickly organized, with 200 people in each group, and each group was equipped with crossbowmen. Zhu Wencai personally led the death squads towards the city wall, just to cover the crossbowmen who shot arrows at the wall.

......

In front of the Yangxin Palace, Gu Tingzhou led the cavalry and fought fiercely with the imperial guards for nearly two hours. As all the soldiers in the palace gathered, the gap that had been torn open was finally recaptured by Gu Tingchen.

He had lost all his patience with Gu Tingzhou and ordered all the archers to shoot with all their might. In a moment, all the cavalrymen were killed.

Seeing that all his men had been wiped out and no one from Prince Qi's army had come to support him, Gu Tingzhou couldn't help but sneer.

"This loser really doesn't deserve the fate of the emperor. If he leads the people of Prince Qi's Mansion to fight with all their strength, I'm afraid the entire palace will belong to him by now."

He complained dissatisfiedly, then looked at Xue Ren who was hit by several arrows and quickly ordered: "Old Xue, you try to get His Majesty and my cousin out of the Yangxin Palace. I will hold them back."

"Young Master, please don't argue with me about this. Let me do it." Xue Ren pushed Gu Tingzhou back into the Yangxin Palace and shouted to the remaining people, "We swear to protect His Majesty until our death."

More than a hundred people had just rushed forward a few steps when they were all shot to death by the bows and crossbows of the Imperial Guards. Gu Tingchen led his men straight to the Yangxin Palace.

Ye Wanshu was chopping at a pillar in the hall with a knife. Gu Tingzhou rushed in and saw what she was doing. He asked in confusion, "Wanwan, what are you doing?"

Ye Wanshu glanced at the remaining broken pillars and said anxiously, "Prince Qi hasn't appeared yet. If we let Gu Tingchen in, we'll be dead. I heard from His Majesty that the foundation of the Hall of Mental Cultivation tilts southward. If we cut through all the pillars, we might have a fighting chance of survival when the hall collapses."

Glancing at the exhausted emperor and the old eunuch, Gu Tingzhou couldn't help but smile with relief: "Wanwan, you are really smart."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gu Tingchen rushed in with his army.

Glancing at the situation in the hall, Liu Zhang was immediately terrified: "Your Highness, your cousin is going to destroy the Yangxin Palace. Please get out quickly."

"Stop her quickly," Gu Tingchen shouted.

"Let's see who dares to step forward." Gu Tingzhou stopped in front of Ye Wanshu, raised his sword and shouted at the soldier who was stepping forward.

Gu Tingchen could no longer tolerate this guy and shouted sternly, "Shoot."

Seeing the archers around her drawing their bows and arrows and aiming at Gu Tingzhou, Ye Wanshu suddenly stopped what she was doing.

"Wanwan, don't worry about me, do what you want." Gu Tingzhou shouted angrily, picked up the sword and rushed forward recklessly.

At once, thousands of arrows were fired at Gu Tingzhou.

Looking at Gu Tingzhou whose body was full of feather arrows, Ye Wanshu felt a pang of pain in her heart. She gritted her teeth and slashed at the pillar in front of her. The bright red pillar was immediately broken in half, and the hall shook and collapsed.

Gu Tingchen was stunned and was about to rush forward, but was forcibly pulled out of the hall by Liu Zhang.
