Chapter 3: Granted Marriage

The visitors were none other than Duke Rong and his wife.

Ye Huaisu knew about it as soon as Jiang Yueling came to his niece's courtyard, and urged Rong Guogong Gu An to come over as quickly as possible.

After all, she is a stepmother, so there are many things she cannot say, but Gu An will not show any mercy to the two brothers.

As soon as I rushed back to the city early in the morning, I heard about the bad things my two sons did in the brothel. I was already furious, and this bitch rushed out to show up.

"Don't you know what Wanwan's personality is like?"

Gu An glared at the two brothers fiercely: "If she is really vicious, she can just go to your mother to complain and scold you two. Why wait until someone comes to her house to make things difficult?"

Gu Tingchen frowned and put Jiang Yueling down: "Father, you and mother can no longer indulge Wanwan. Today she..."

Gu An roared, "I can't indulge you brothers anymore."

After all, they were the relatives left to him by his deceased wife, so he had always let the two brothers do as they pleased. Fortunately, they had been very responsible in the past and had not done anything out of line.

But now.

Glancing at the embarrassed Jiang Yueling with displeasure, Gu An angrily scolded, "Look at what you have become. You are a century-old Duke's Mansion, and yet you actually brought a prostitute home. You have completely ruined the reputation of the Gu family."

Jiang Yueling knelt down aggrievedly: "Duke, this servant..."

"Shut up, you have no right to speak here."

Gu An shouted coldly and harshly, and Jiang Yueling lowered her head in fear.

"Father."

Gu Tingzhou wanted to say something in defense, but just as he opened his mouth, he was blocked by Gu An: "You too shut up, today is Wanwan's coming-of-age party, if any of you dare to upset her again, I will not let you off easily."

The two brothers looked unwilling, and Gu An shouted again: "Get out of here now."

The two brothers looked at each other, not daring to argue anymore, so they had to help Jiang Yueling up and leave angrily.

After dismissing Gu Tingzhou and Gu Tingchen, Gu An glanced towards the room with a gloomy look, and then softened his tone: "Madam, I won't go in. You should comfort Wanwan."

After a brief pause, he emphasized, "Wanwan and Tingzhou's marriage must not go wrong today."

Upon learning that his niece was to be betrothed to the prince, Ye Huaisu's face lit up with joy: "Master, have you made up your mind? Is it really Tingzhou?"

Gu An nodded.

Ye Huaisu's expression shifted for a moment, then he suddenly said, "I know Wanwan's character best. She's definitely feeling resentful about the Crown Prince and Tingchen's quarrel. Now that it's settled, Master, why not send someone to the palace immediately to inform the Empress Dowager?"

Gu An naturally understood what the lady meant. The Queen Mother had promised to arrange marriages for her two sons, but both brothers were devoted to Wanwan, which made them feel awkward.

Today is a good time to ask the Queen Mother for permission to marry, so that Wanwan won't have any other thoughts.

"I'll go right away."

Gu An responded briefly and left in a hurry.

Ye Huaisu thought for a moment and hurried into the house.

Ye Wanshu asked Chunhong and Xingtao to take out all the head ornaments and jewelry that Gu Tingzhou and Gu Tingchen had given her over the years. As they were putting them in order, they saw Ye Huaisu walk in with two maids.

"aunt."

Ye Wanshu bowed respectfully, and Ye Huaisu walked straight forward, looked at the two boxes full of jewelry, picked up a gold hairpin and held it in his hand.

"Oh, isn't this the mandarin duck and butterfly purple gold hairpin that the Queen Mother gave to Tingzhou? She said it was a token of love for her beloved. You finally took it out, girl."

Ye Huaisu calmly put the hairpin into her bun and said, "It's just the right day. Auntie will put it on for you."

Ye Wanshu probably heard some hidden meaning, and was afraid that her uncle and aunt had already made up their minds and wanted to marry her to Gu Tingzhou.

In his previous life, he would rather cause a feud with Gu Tingchen and marry that brothel girl, so how could he be willing to marry me?

Holding Ye Huaisu's hand, Ye Wanshu forced a smile. "Today is Wanwan's coming-of-age day. Wanwan misses her mother and grandmother. Wanwan wants to wear the head ornaments that her aunt prepared for her to the banquet."

After saying that, he immediately asked Chun Hongxin to bring a jewelry box.

When Ye Huaisu heard her mention her deceased sister and mother, his heart ached and his face was quite moved.

It can also be seen that this girl is worried about the two brothers. Although she feels distressed, this marriage cannot be cancelled no matter what.

"No rush to put on the hairpin."

Ye Huaisu pulled her to sit beside the bed and said, "Wanwan, there's something I need to tell you."

Looking at Ye Wanshu, she smiled and said slowly, "I had the clan leader sell your grandmother's old house, and your aunt added some silver, which we donated to the state government for disaster relief in your name."

Ye Wanshu was stunned.

Her aunt was cutting off her escape route and was determined to keep her in the Duke's Mansion to suffer.

"In the future, my aunt and I will depend on each other for survival. Tongyang is thousands of miles away and there's no one to go back and take care of it. It would be better to donate it to the prefecture. The court has a precedent for bestowing titles upon those who donate silver. Perhaps His Majesty will be pleased to grant you the title of a county princess. Then you will be respected in Lin'an City."

Ye Huaisu smiled faintly at her and said, "Wanwan, you won't blame your aunt for taking the initiative, right?"

“How could that be?” Ye Wanshu responded with a forced smile.

Since she decided to leave, how could she not leave a way out for herself?

After her mother's righteous divorce, her grandmother was most worried about her and her aunt before she died, so she had deposited a large sum of money in a money shop and left it to her aunt and niece.

Now that my aunt has cruelly sold my grandmother's land and house, she will embezzle my aunt's savings, so that no one will suffer.
