Chapter 43: Concubine

Qiu Li had already poured the tea over. Ye Wanshu took it and sipped it nonchalantly, ignoring Prince Qi's intrusion.

Ji Yuan was so angry that his veins were exposed. His pupils were wide open as he stared at Prince Qi: "Your Highness, do you still have any knowledge of etiquette? How can you openly barge into my backyard like this?"

After saying this, he glared at the guard holding a stick and shouted, "Are you all just eating for free? Get out of here!"

After all, he is Concubine Zhou's son-in-law and the current Prince Qi. If he wants to force his way in, the guards dare not stop him. Only after receiving the master's order did they dare to step forward tentatively.

"Stop it, everyone, get back off."

Zhou Ru dismissed everyone with a single word, fearing that Prince Qi would become enemies with the master. She glanced at Madam Liu and quickly explained, "Master, it was Madam Liu who allowed His Highness to come in. It's not His Highness's fault."

"you......"

Ji Yuan almost vomited blood. He kicked Mother Liu to the ground in a daze, and then slapped Zhou Ru in the face without hesitation.

"You still don't have any sense of shame. I let you run the household, and this is how you manage it?"

He stared at Zhou Ru with disappointment, feeling that all those years of doting on her had been in vain.

This was the first time in over ten years that she had been scolded like this by the master. Zhou Ru felt resentful and laughed angrily, covering half of her face. "What are you talking about, master? Compared to Xi'er's serious matter, what does this little bit of shame mean?"

"Oh my God, what sin have I committed that you all have let me down like this?"

Ji Yuan staggered and held onto Qin's coffin, gasping for breath. It took him a long time to catch his breath. He glared at Prince Qi coldly and uttered three words in a chilling voice.

"Blast it out."

Walking slowly towards Ye Wanshu, Ji Yuan said in a trembling voice, "Wanwan, let's ignore these unlucky things. Daddy will accompany you back to Mu Cang Zhai."

Ye Wanshu remained motionless, her gaze frighteningly calm as she glanced at him, "Father, things have to be faced. How can running away solve them?"

If he hadn't indulged Zhou Ru, how could the entire mansion have been managed in this state? He was reaping the consequences of his own actions.

"The princess still knows the current situation."

Prince Qi now places all his hopes on Ji Yuan. Not to mention trespassing into the Prime Minister's backyard, even breaking into the imperial palace is no problem at all.

Slowly approaching Ji Yuan with slow steps, Prince Qi said, "First Minister Ji teased me, and then I was rude. And, First Minister Ji, you need to make it clear that it was your concubine Zhou and the second daughter who begged me desperately. I will not even bother to enter your Ji family's backyard."

At this point, Prince Qi raised a playful smile and said, "As long as Prime Minister Ji fulfills his promise, this prince can forgive the past and still marry the second young lady in a grand ceremony."

Zhou Ru knew this was the only chance for her daughter to marry into Prince Qi's mansion, so she pleaded, "Master, please agree to Prince Qi's request."

"Don't even think about it." Ji Yuan looked at Prince Qi and said resolutely, "Even if I had to make my daughter a nun, I would never let her marry into Prince Qi's mansion."

"Very good, Prime Minister Ji, please don't regret it and come to ask me for help again."

Prince Qi was about to turn around with a sullen look on his face when Ji Ningxi suddenly grabbed him and begged him, "Your Highness, please don't leave. Xi'er truly loves you. Even if Daddy doesn't agree, Xi'er is willing to follow Your Highness for the rest of her life."

"OK."

Being teased and humiliated by Ji Yuan, Prince Qi was feeling frustrated and had no place to vent his anger. He sneered, "With such a large mansion, I can easily take in another concubine, Miss Second. As long as Miss Second is willing, I don't mind taking you in as a concubine."

Upon hearing this, everyone looked at Ji Ningxi at the same time.

Ji Ningxi hesitated for only a moment, then nodded decisively: "Xi'er is willing to be your concubine."

This frightened Zhou Ru so much that she grabbed her daughter and yelled, "Xi'er, are you crazy? What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Since Daddy is so focused on favoring Big Sister and won't help me, I'll make the decision for myself."

Glancing at her father with resentment, Ji Ningxi struggled to shake Zhou Ru off, revealing a bitter smile: "My dear, weren't you just a lowly concubine back then? Now you're held in the highest regard by father, so why can't I be the same?"

She stood up resolutely and looked at Prince Qi with a flattering expression: "As long as Your Highness is willing to take Xier in, Xier is willing to sever the father-daughter relationship with Prime Minister Ji."

"You...you bastard."

Ji Yuan widened his eyes in astonishment and stood there in a daze as if he had been struck by lightning.

Prince Qi was extremely relieved when he saw this. He extended his finger proudly, gently lifted Ji Ningxi's chin, and nodded with satisfaction: "I didn't expect that there could be such a deeply affectionate person in this world."

Curling his lips, Prince Qi looked at Ji Yuan provocatively and said word by word, "Second Miss, if that's the case, then go. I will definitely treat you well."

After he finished speaking, he immediately left.

Ji Ningxi was afraid that he would abandon her, so she followed him out of the yard.

"Xi'er."

Zhou Ru hurried forward to chase after him, but just after taking a few steps, she was suddenly tripped by the threshold of the yard and fell to the ground.

Hearing the crying and shouting behind him, Ji Ningxi just looked back, then followed King Qi out of the Ji family without looking back.

"Mom, I will make Dad regret his decision today." She murmured silently in her heart.

Since she was a child, she had heard her mother talk about how countless women from the lower classes lived a life of luxury by relying on their own abilities, and even many nobles in the palace had fought their way up from the lower classes. She claimed that she was no worse than others, and as long as she could firmly win over Prince Qi's heart, she would be able to rule the country sooner or later when he ascended the throne.

Seeing her daughter disappear, Zhou Ru was supported by Mother Liu and came back. She looked around at Aunt Zheng and Aunt Sun with a look of unwillingness.
