Chapter 97 The Dust Settles

After confirming that the traitor was dead, Fu Mingxu hurried forward to check if his sister was injured. "Are you hurt anywhere?"

Fu Qianyu shook her head and said in a trembling voice, "I'm fine, brother, why are you here?"

Fu Mingxu's eyes were heavy. "The Queen and Prince Qing are colluding with each other, and the Emperor is using their tricks against them. He's afraid someone will hurt you, so he ordered me to protect you."

"Empress?" Fu Qianyu was stunned and swallowed. "If you protect me, what about the Emperor?"

"Don't worry, the emperor is under the protection of Prince Gong, so he will be fine."

"Prince Gong? What's going on? Since Prince Qing is rebelling, what should we do in the palace? What about Heng'er and Yi'er?"

"All is well. As soon as you left the palace, the Emperor secretly sent the Empress Dowager, the Imperial Noble Consort, and several princes and princesses to Prince Yongjun's Palace."

"The palace is heavily guarded, so nothing will happen. As for the rest, the emperor will explain it to you slowly when we get back."

Without waiting for Fu Qianyu to ask again, Fu Mingxu pulled out a dagger from his sleeve and handed it to his sister: "You go stay in the tent. No matter what you hear, you are not allowed to come out. There is chaos and turmoil outside now. You must take care of yourself."

Fu Qianyu took the dagger, looked at her brother gravely, and said worriedly, "Brother, please be careful."

"Don't worry." Fu Mingxu raised his hand and rubbed his sister's forehead, just as intimately as when they were young.

On the other side, Prince Qing was sitting on a chair in armor. The guard he sent to assassinate Fu Qianyu had been gone for half an hour and had not returned. He felt a chill in his heart.

As expected, the guards outside came in covered in blood and said in panic, "Your Highness, we are surrounded!"

Prince Qing suddenly stood up, his eyes wide open, and shouted, "That's nonsense! There are only 2,000 guards at the hunting grounds. How could that be possible?"

"It's the troops of Prince Gong and General Yun!"

Upon hearing that it was Yun Hui and Zhao Yuanyu, Prince Qing collapsed in his chair and said in disbelief, "How is this possible? Yun Hui is thousands of miles away, and Zhao Yuanyu is clearly..."

The guard, his face filled with panic, interrupted Prince Qing's soliloquy: "Your Highness, let's retreat quickly. If we don't leave now, it will be too late."

"Where's the Queen? Hasn't the Queen sent anyone to deliver the message yet?"

The guard's eyes were filled with despair. "Her Majesty, I'm afraid, I'm afraid she has rebelled."

Prince Qing slammed the table so hard that veins popped out on his forehead, but before he could escape, he heard several screams from the door.

Zhao Yuanyu, wearing armor and holding a silver spear, rushed in directly and pierced the guard's neck with one shot!

"Zhao Yuanzhen, why don't you surrender?"

Knowing his death was near, Prince Qing was not afraid. He looked at Zhao Yuanyu coldly and said viciously, "If I had known this would happen, I should have poisoned you to death!"

I know that saying more is useless.

Prince Qing immediately picked up the sharp blade and started fighting with Zhao Yuanyu.

But Zhao Yuanyu was a military general after all. Even though he was a prince, he never stopped practicing martial arts. Prince Qing was naturally no match for him.

He was defeated in less than ten moves.

Zhao Yuanyu looked down at Prince Qing and said coldly, "Come here, tie Prince Qing up and wait for the emperor's decision!"

In the queen's tent, the concubines who came to celebrate tonight were trembling with fear. They only dared to cry loudly when the guards came to report that the rebels outside had been executed.

The concubines were helped out by their respective palace maids, and a few of the timid ones fainted.

Not long after, Zhu Yu walked in quickly and said with a wooden face, "Empress, the Emperor requests that you go to the main tent immediately."

The queen stroked the Begonia Jade Ring, which had been broken into two pieces, in her hand, with a calm expression and a hint of composure.

This jade ring was given to her as a coming-of-age gift by her great-grandfather, and it is also her favorite.

But when he returned from the Su Mansion that day, it broke into two pieces without any warning.

Now that I think about it, maybe there is destiny in all of us.

"Wait outside. I'll come see you as soon as I change my clothes."

Zhu Yu wanted to say something, but finally walked out. Half a cup of tea later, when the queen came out again, she had already taken off her gorgeous clothes and was not wearing any jewelry, as if she had already guessed what the emperor wanted to say to her.

Inside the main tent, Zhao Yuancheng's eyes were stern. He was slightly stunned when he saw the queen's attire when she came in, but soon, his expression turned cold again.

The queen straightened her back and knelt beside Zhao Yuanyu: "Your Majesty, I am guilty, please punish me."

"You recognized it so quickly!"

The Queen smiled faintly, her eyes revealing a calmness towards death. "From the moment you put Prince Qing in charge of the hunting grounds, I knew you knew Prince Qing was planning a rebellion, and this was just a trick you used to win."

She then pulled out the packet of poison from her sleeve and said, "Prince Qing sent someone to tell me to put poison in your food. This is a heinous crime!"

Upon hearing this, Prince Qing glared at the Queen fiercely, with murderous intent in his eyes.

The Queen turned a blind eye and said: "I am possessed by evil spirits, but the Su family has no idea what is going on. I am willing to submit to the law, and I only ask that the Emperor let the Su family go."

After saying this, the queen bowed deeply.

Zhao Yuancheng waved his hand, and immediately the guards dragged Prince Qing away.

There were only two people left in the tent at that time.

Zhao Yuancheng was silent for a long moment, then slowly spoke, "Queen, I believe I have always treated you with great respect since we married, but why did you? Why did you conspire with Prince Qing to rebel? Why did you commit so many wrongdoings?"

The Queen took a deep breath and smiled faintly, "Your Majesty, do you know that when the late Emperor arranged for me to marry you, my great grandfather disagreed? But my father, as the eldest son, only had me as his daughter. For the sake of family honor and to preserve the status of the Su family, he had no choice but to disobey my great grandfather and marry me to you."
