At this time, the second batch of balloons has already gone up to the sky. The sky is very beautiful. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo are even more looking forward to the hot air balloon tomorrow morning. They found a restaurant to have breakfast. The sausage omelette tasted good. After breakfast, it was still early before 9 o'clock. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo walked back slowly. Along the way, they saw these houses built in caves, which were very unique.
At 9 o'clock, the green line tour officially started. Interestingly, there were 6 tourists in Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo's group, including an old French couple, a Japanese couple, a Thai girl, a handsome Spanish guy, and Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo are an international group!
But the pressure also came. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo couldn't let the Chinese people down! Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo's tour guide was a Turkish girl who had studied in the United States. She spoke English very well and was very enthusiastic. So Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo's group was an English group, which was still a bit difficult for Yunluo, who had no problem communicating in daily life.
Because the whole tour involved a lot of religious, historical, and ethnic terms, Yunluo could only half understand what he heard. Fortunately, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo had a lonely pla. After everyone introduced themselves to Yunluo, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo set off to the first attraction, Panorama Point, where you can experience the unique topography of the entire Goreme area. You can see far away. There are some shops here that sell Turkish specialty products, and this one is a whirling dance.
Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo saw it when they were in Istanbul. This is the evil eye in Turkey, a local amulet. The meaning of the evil eye is as follows. Once upon a time, a rich man had his eyes on a fat cow passing by his house, and he said to his wife, "Today, I have seen nothing more wonderful than this fat cow."
The fat cow that was stared at by the rich man fell to the ground and died. People call the rich man's eyes in the story "jealous eyes" and believe that this kind of eyes has a huge "terrible power". It killed the cow. This is too common. Staring can be considered a kind of power if there is something beautiful that is worth being proud of and needs to be protected.
Being stared at with jealousy and possessiveness is a truly frightening evil. This glass product that can refract light and burst, and is also an eye, is considered a talisman to dispel evil. It is highly respected in Turkey, and when an "evil eye" is not powerful enough, there are various formations to fight against the evil eye.
Three in a group, four in a row, now have been made into exquisite ornaments of various materials and shapes. Next, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo went to Derinkuyu Underground City. When they got there, they found that there were too many tourists visiting and the line was very long, so the tour guide decided to go to the next attraction first and come back to visit the underground city in the afternoon.
Nalanshiqi and Yunluo continued to the Erhra Gorge. Erhra Gorge was one of the favorite retreats of Byzantine monks. The monks carved churches into the cliffs here. This is one of the most beautiful hiking spots in the world. This is a map of the canyon. There are 4 entrances to the canyon.
Nalanshiqi and Yunluo's group entered from the second entrance on the right in the middle. Exit from the third exit, the total journey is 3,750 kilometers, which is also the route taken by most tourists. Tour Tips: Lonelypla recommends taking the entire route, including having lunch inside, the whole journey takes about 5 to 6 hours.
It is best to start early in the morning. You can see farmers working hard on the land and shepherds driving their sheep. It is a beautiful pastoral scene. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo walked down the steps into the canyon. A small monastery in the canyon. It was built in a cave and there are some exquisite paintings inside. Let's start hiking!
In fact, it is only 3 kilometers in total. It is not very long, and it is not very hot walking through these green plants. It feels like the hermits in ancient times really knew how to find a place! There are tall valleys next to them. After walking for a while, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo rested in a small inn with green trees. There is freshly squeezed orange juice for sale here, 5 lira (15 RMB) a cup.
Although it was a little expensive. But seeing the fresh oranges, I still bought a cup. It tasted very good. Turkish oranges are sweet. After resting, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo continued hiking. It was close to noon. The sun was very hot and the shade was cool. This is the pigeon nest in the canyon.
It is also a cave dug by people in the canyon. Arriving at the end of the Nalanshiqi and Yunluo Canyon trip, Nalanshiqi and Yunluo had lunch here. Although lunch is included in the tour fee, you need to pay for the drinks yourself. There are multiple choices of staple food, including grilled fish, grilled meat, etc., which taste good.
After lunch, Nalanshiqi and Yunluo drove to the next attraction, Sherim Monastery. This is an amazing cave building, which includes a huge kitchen with a towering chimney. There is a gallery near the church, and the stable has a feeding trough carved into the rock, all of which show the traces of the hermit life here in the past.
Visitors can follow the designated tour route to enter each room, but they need to climb this not-so-high mountain. Tour tips: The mountain climbing path here is not easy to walk on. There are no steps but only earth slopes in many places, so it is best to wear a pair of more suitable shoes. It is not easy to build such a cave building with doors and windows.
There are kitchens, dining halls, schools, churches, and prayer rooms. The larger rooms are divided into several floors. From here, you can see the topography of the area. There are many caves like this. Walking inside, it is a large church with two floors and steps on both sides. This is a prayer room.
Even the smallest rooms have windows. After visiting the Sherim Monastery, Nalanshiqi and Yunluo took a bus back to Derinkuyu Underground City, where there were fewer people in line. Go underground! The vast network of underground cities in Cappadocia is believed to have been first excavated by the Hittites.
Related records first appeared in Greek historical works, probably in the 4th century BC. In the 6th and 7th centuries AD, the Byzantine Christian power extended here, and believers expanded the underground city to avoid persecution. If the Arab or Persian army approached, a beacon would be lit to warn, and the message could be transmitted from Jerusalem to Constantinople in a few hours.
When the warning reached Cappadocia, Christians would take whatever money they could carry with them and hide in underground cities, hiding in underground caves for months. Currently, about 37 underground cities are open to the public. It is estimated that at least 100 underground cities have not yet been excavated. The total size of these underground shelters may never be known.
Vertical shafts like this could be ventilation shafts or traps to defend against enemies. In some places, ventilation shafts are nearly 100 meters deep, and they also played an important role in the construction of the underground city. When digging new houses, Wall-E fragments will be transported from the ventilation shafts to the surface.
The staircases go down continuously. Many of the stairs are very narrow and can only allow one person to pass through, so make sure that no one is walking in the same direction as you before going up or down. The Derinkuyu Underground City has a total of 7 floors, which is the underground city with the most rooms. Coming to the seventh floor at the bottom, the current depth is about 60 meters.
But it is still very spacious inside. This place is an underground church. The underground city is very complicated. If you don't follow the guide, you will get lost if you are not careful. Visiting the underground city is like taking a history lesson. The narrow passage takes you deep into the earth, and there are stables with hitching posts along the way.
Churches with altars and baptisteries, walls with ventilation holes, barns and mills, and dark kitchens and ovens. Although it is very interesting, you must be prepared for crowds and try to avoid weekends, because domestic tour groups in Turkey will make it even worse. Even if you don't like to hire a guide on weekdays.
When touring the underground city, it is best to hire a tour guide. The tour guide will explain the underground life in detail, some of which you cannot understand by yourself. The last stop of the green line is shopping. The tour guide will take everyone to a handicraft workshop, where someone will demonstrate how to make pottery, and there is a handicraft shop next to it.
There are so many things inside, but Nalanshiqi and Yunluo just took a look. As mentioned earlier, Nalanshiqi and Yunluo arrived in Cappadocia in the morning and checked into the Hamancavehotel. Since it was not yet 2:00 pm when they arrived, Nalanshiqi and Yunluo just left their luggage at the hotel. Now they finally checked in after returning in the evening!
This is a hotel in a cave, and the conditions are very good! Yunluo will explain more about this hotel in the [Accommodation] section of the [Practical Guide] later. After a simple packing, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo went out to find a place to have dinner. On the way back from the green line, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo asked the tour guide for more distinctive restaurants.
There is a local specialty clay pot that is better. But it needs to be booked in advance. So Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo asked the hotel front desk to call to help Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo make a reservation. The other party told them to go there in 2 hours. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo were very curious about what kind of restaurant was so popular.
Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo had two hours to stroll around the street. They passed by a carpet shop. Turkish carpets are world-famous, so Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo went in to take a look. There were a wide variety of goods, but the prices were not cheap. A small carpet of 60cm*40cm cost two or three hundred RMB.
If it is a finer weave or woven with silk, the price will be more expensive. Walking to the street, the sun was setting at this time, and Goreme seemed very quiet under the sunset. Many people climbed up the distant mountains to watch the sunset, but Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo looked around and didn't know where to climb the mountain, and even if they caught up, they would probably be too late to watch the sunset!
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
Besides, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo will take a flight back to Istanbul tomorrow evening, so they won't have the chance to go up the mountain to watch the sunset. They are envious and jealous of them. At that time, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo came to this restaurant called dibek! When eating, they found out that this clay pot is disposable!
The waiter knocked the earthen jar open and poured out the food inside! Since this dish is very time-consuming to make, reservations were made in advance so that the restaurant could prepare this dish! Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo suddenly realized. The taste is really great! This is beef, and the aroma has been surrounding Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo since the moment the earthen jar was opened.
The beef is also very tender. Yunluo will explain more about this restaurant in the [Food and Beverage] section of the [Practical Guide] later. At night, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo returned to the hotel. From the terrace on the second floor of the hotel, they could see a bright spot on the distant mountain.
Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo recalled that when they booked the hotel, they found a hotel with a relatively high rating but it was far away. This should be the one. Pack up and go to bed! Since I didn't sleep well on the bus the day before, and I have to take a hot air balloon ride tomorrow morning! There will be a car coming to pick up Lan Shiqi and Yunluo at 4 o'clock, so go to bed quickly!
This route is relatively short, with all the attractions forming a circular route, and the distance between each attraction is relatively close, which is more suitable for self-guided tours than other routes. You can join a local tour group or rent a motorcycle or ATV to take this route. Start from Goreme and go to the panoramic site first.
Then walk northeast to visit Pasabag, which has the most beautiful and tallest fairy chimneys in Cappadocia, and then visit Devrent Valley. The stone cones formed by volcanic ash here are the most peculiar in shape and the most concentrated in distribution in Cappadocia. The most obvious sign of arrival here is a huge rock that looks like a camel.
Then we will go to Avanos, a ceramic town. After lunch, we will go to Goreme Open-Air Museum in the afternoon, then to the carpet factory, and then return. [Attractions] Pasabag, Pasabag near Zilvey has the most beautiful and lovely fairy chimneys in the entire Cappadocia region.
In addition to the tallest fairy chimneys in Cappadocia, the basalt fairy chimneys are all multi-headed and pointed, which is very unique. Under the towering fairy heads is the church, which was originally the hermitage of St. Simeon in the 5th century AD and has been well preserved to this day.
Devrent Valley, the valley with the most obvious erosion landforms, is the most peculiar and most concentrated group of volcanic cones in Cappadocia. The famous camel-shaped rocks are here, called "animal rock formations". (To be continued...)
