St. Mark is worshipped as the patron saint of the city by the Venetians, and his mount is a lion. When Venice broke free from the control of Byzantium and became a city-republic, the Senate decided that St. Mark would be the new patron saint of the city to replace Theodore, so the city emblem of Venice is a huge lion holding the Gospel.
St. Mark's Basilica is not only a church, it is also a very good building and a treasure house of rich art. It combines the architectural features of the East and the West. It was originally a Byzantine building. In the 15th century, Gothic decorations such as pointed arches were added; in the 17th century, Renaissance decorations were added.
Such as railings. From the outside, its five domes are said to come from the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey; the gorgeous decoration on the front is derived from the Byzantine style; and the structure of the entire church presents a Greek cross design. These architectural features are amazing. The five entrances on the front of the church and its gorgeous Roman arches are Lu
It was completed in the 17th century. Above the archway of the entrance are five mosaics describing the deeds of St. Mark, namely, 'The Return of St. Mark's Body from Constantinople', 'The Arrival of the Body in Venice', 'The Last Judgment', 'The Tribute to the Myth of St. Mark' and 'St. Mark Entering St. Mark's Basilica'. The five themes are magnificent and dazzling.
The hot weather made Yunluo and Anchuyu lose interest in traveling. Yunluo, Minyi and Flora simply went back to the B&B to take a rest and go out in the evening. They rested until five o'clock. Although it was late, the sun was still shining in Venice. They thought they could sit on the boat and enjoy the sunset. They were in a good mood!
Since there were no more boats to the Colorful Island after 6 o'clock, Yunluo and An Chuyu changed their plans and took a boat to the Glass Island. As expected, they caught up with the sunset on the boat. After passing the main island of Venice, Yunluo and An Chuyu were on the vast sea! The Glass Island is an island in the Venice Lake in Italy.
It is nominally an island, but in fact it is an archipelago, connected by bridges, forming a single island. The Glass Island is located about 1.6 km north of Venice. It is famous for making colorful Murano glassware, especially brushed thermoplastic. In 1291, the Republic of Venice was worried that the fire in the glass factory would cause a fire in Venice, which was full of wooden houses.
He ordered all glass factories in Venice to move to the Isola delle Vie. From then on, the Isola delle Vie became the center of colorful glass manufacturing. In the 14th century, the Isola delle Vie began to export glass products. It was famous for its glass beads, glass mirrors and glass chandeliers. In the 15th century, the Isola delle Vie also became a holiday resort for Venetians, and many palaces were built on the island.
Famous attractions on the island include the Church of Santa Maria and San Donato, which is famous for its 12th-century Byzantine mosaic sidewalk. When Yunluo and Anchu met, it was already six o'clock and the shops and museums were closed. It was a bit disappointing. They could only look at the glass crafts in the windows. However, compared with the main island, there were fewer tourists and they could feel the atmosphere of the local people living there.
Although the buildings on the Color Island are famous for their rich colors, the buildings on the Glass Island are not inferior. There are few restaurants on the Glass Island in the evening, so Yunluo and An Chuyu plan to go home. There are fewer boats here after 7 o'clock. Sitting on the boat, the breeze blows and the beautiful scenery is right in front of you. Back to the main island. Because I'm too lazy to check the water bus route.
Yunluo and An Chuyu decided to walk back, and they could also take a look at the surrounding scenery while walking. Venice is not big. It is not small either. Walking through the winding alleys is like playing CS. You never know whether it can turn left or right until you reach the end of a road. Fortunately, Yunluo and An Chuyu have a mobile map.
Passing by a restaurant, I filled my stomach. Venice at night has a different atmosphere and is colorful. Walking into the alley, the restaurant is full of excited foreigners, probably drunk, calling friends. On the way to the hotel, I passed a square where an elderly rock band was singing and there were many snacks for sale around.
The square was full of people, all cheering enthusiastically along with the band. Yunluo and An Chuyu were listening to the song when they ran into a group of Italian youths. They came up to Yunluo and An Chuyu drunk. Before they opened their mouths, Yunluo guessed that they must have lost a bet after drinking and were being punished. Sure enough, a young man wearing glasses asked Yunluo to hug him.
Yunluo gave him a big hug without thinking. They also invited Yunluo and An Chuyu to drink. Yunluo originally refused because it was not good to drink with others. But Flora happily took the cup and drank it. She drank one third of the big cup. Yunluo was not to be outdone. He grabbed the cup and drank it in one gulp. It was so refreshing!
I was really touched by the enthusiasm of the Italian people. If the residents of Florence moved Yunluo with their sincerity, then the people in Venice infected Yunluo with their passion. Under the colorful walls, people from all over the world broke the restrictions of their countries and gathered in Venice to speak freely. Venice, that night, Yunluo was intoxicated by you!
Milan was the last stop of the several Italian cities that Yunluo and An Chuyu visited. For five consecutive days, there was not a single cloudy day, but they were all very sunny. It happened that the apartment Yunluo and An Chuyu lived in in Milan was super nice, and everyone stayed in the house and didn't want to come out. At almost five o'clock in the afternoon, Yunluo and An Chuyu finally came out slowly.
As they had to go to the World Expo in the evening, Yunluo and Anchuyu didn't have much to do in Milan. They just wanted to see what its landmarks looked like. They took the subway to Milan Cathedral Station. As soon as they got out of the station, the typical Gothic architecture came into view. Yunluo had liked the complex Gothic architecture since he was a child. The grandeur and complexity of this building deeply shocked Yunluo.
The dazzling sun shines on the white marble walls, and it feels like the whole church is glowing. The Duomo can truly be said to be the symbol of Milan. It was proposed by Duke Giangaleazzo Visconti to be built to dedicate to the newborn Virgin Mary. It is the third largest church in Europe after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and Seville Cathedral in Spain.
Milan Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the best Gothic cathedral in Italy. The cathedral is 158 meters long and 93 meters wide at its widest point. The spire is 108.5 meters high at its highest point. The cathedral covers an area of about 12,000 square meters. The architectural style of the cathedral is very unique, with a Gothic spire in the upper part.
The highest spire is 108 meters high, with a 4.2-meter statue of the Virgin Mary on top. It is plated with gold. The lower part is in typical Baroque style, with sculptures from top to bottom, which is extremely complex and exquisite. It is a representative building of the Renaissance. There are 135 spires at the top, and each spire has a statue facing outward.
There are more than 3,400 statues decorating the entire church, including 96 monsters of various shapes, and the monsters at each corner are different. The entire exterior of the building is dotted with exquisitely carved window grilles. The total length is about half a mile (1 kilometer). I was just shocked by the momentum of the duomo, and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II next to it is no less impressive.
It is known as one of the most beautiful commercial arcades in Europe, built between 1865 and 1977. It has a steel frame colored glass roof, and two intersecting corridors in a cross shape, 198 meters long from north to south and 105 meters long from east to west. The corridor was built to commemorate the father of the Italian nation, so it was named after the first king of Italy.
The construction of the gallery began in March 1865. The Italian King Victor Emmanuel II attended the groundbreaking ceremony, which was unprecedentedly grand. The architect Mengeni carefully designed the gallery, and the huge project took twelve years to complete until 1877. In 1943 during World War II, this famous building was attacked by air raids and suffered heavy losses.
After the war, the Milan government carried out serious restoration, and it was not until 1967 that it was completely renovated. The brands in the gallery were too high-end. Yunluo and other losers could not afford it, so they took photos and left quickly. Milan is a fashion capital. Several streets launched by duomo are bustling shopping streets. I guess the Chinese students stationed here must go shopping every day as a way of entertainment.
It was too tempting. Due to time constraints, Yunluo and An Chuyu could only choose one of the malls to visit. Adhering to the principle of shopping in the most unique way, Yunluo and An Chuyu went to ExcelsiorMilano. This is a gathering place for trendy people. The display methods in the store are full of design, and the things sold are also ingenious, but the price... is ridiculously expensive.
Looking at the watch, it was almost seven o'clock, and the night tickets for the Expo were available from seven o'clock. Yunluo hurriedly got on the subway that went directly to the Expo. Expo, Yunluo and An Chuyu are here! In 2010, Yunluo had endured the scorching heat for three consecutive days and visited the World Expo Park in Sihai City. Five years later, Yunluo came to Milan and visited the World Expo again, which was of great significance.
The area of this Expo is not as large as that of Sihai City, and the organizers do not attach as much importance to it as Sihai City, but because the ticket price is cheap and the flow of people is much less, it still attracts Yunluo to go. The theme of this Expo is "Feeding the Pla, Energy for Life", which aims to focus on global food security and sustainable development.
Dealing with problems such as population growth, while exploring the relationship between earth resources and human diet. I recommend a post about the World Expo written by a Chinese volunteer working at the Milan Expo, which details various aspects of the Milan Expo: Exit the subway station.
It does not mean that Yunluo and An Chuyu can directly enter the Expo Park, but they have to cross a long bridge. The buildings in the Expo Park can be seen in the distance. The hearts of Yunluo, An Chuyu and the other two friends have already drifted there. The advantage of the night ticket is that you don't have to queue up. It takes no more than five minutes to buy the ticket. Pay the ticket fee of 5 euros per person, and it's done!
Some of the Expo venues have experience projects that need to be booked in advance. Yunluo had taken a fancy to the flight simulator at the Italian Aviation Pavilion two months ago, and made appointments for the five people who were traveling with Yunluo and An Chuyu. Although two of the friends didn't go in the end, it made Yunluo happy. Because the five agreed times were all reserved for the three people who were going with Yunluo and An Chuyu in the blink of an eye.
However, Yunluo and An Chuyu underestimated the Expo. Although the Expo site was relatively small, it still took Yunluo fifteen minutes to walk from the entrance to the Aviation Pavilion, which made Yunluo very tired. I heard that there was a free shuttle bus in the Expo site, so those who were going there could make use of it.
Finally, we arrived at the Aviation Museum, took out the reservation letter, and started the simulated flight. During the flight, the main captain would lead Yunluo, the co-pilot, to operate the buttons on the flight simulator, just like a real civil aviation flight. After the flight, Yunluo was also awarded a flight medal. After leaving the Aviation Museum, the red spiral building next to it was the China Vanke Museum.
The highlight of this Expo is the Tree of Life. There will be a musical fountain at night. Yunluo went to visit the Italian Pavilion next to the Tree of Life. It is said that this pavilion is the largest in the venue, but the content is a bit empty, that is, it introduces you to various industries and various scenery in Italy. This house is very beautiful, but there are too many people, which affects the beauty.
Here is a picture of the empty pavilion. This is a beautiful picture. The top floor of the Italian Pavilion introduces various types of vegetation. The Tree of Life can be seen from the Italian Pavilion. I originally wanted to go to the Japanese Pavilion, which is said to have a great exhibition. But when I got there, I found that it was closed at 8 o'clock. So sad... The huge sign of the American Pavilion. The venue of this small country is quite dreamy. I don't know which pavilion it belongs to. Yunluo personally thinks the shape is more beautiful than the Tree of Life.
I heard that the German Pavilion is also worth seeing, but unfortunately it was closed. A DJ was performing outside the German Pavilion, attracting many people to come forward and dance. Later, Yunluo and Anchu came across a South American Pavilion. They saw people dancing there too. They also joined in the fun and danced. The World Expo at night is really a big party~ Another highlight of the World Expo is the food. I wanted to taste some Italian specialties.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
But none of the friends in the same group wanted to eat, so Yunluo lost interest. Seeing that it was getting late, she bought an ice cream to satisfy her craving. The weird Italian man at the restaurant door. That's how Yunluo and An Chuyu ended their trip to the Expo, because they had to catch a train the next morning, which also meant that their trip to Milan had come to an end.
There are too many regrets in this city. Because I wanted to save money, I bought night tickets, but I couldn't see the China Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, and Germany Pavilion that I wanted to see; because I was sleepy and lazy, I didn't walk around Milan more and missed many experiences that I should have instinctively had. Milan, waiting for the next arrival of Yunluo!
It took nearly five hours to arrive in Nice. It was already noon, so we had a big meal first. After the meal, it was time to check in at the hotel. Yunluo and An Chuyu chose a hotel between the train station and Jean Messin Street, which greatly facilitated Yunluo and An Chuyu's travel. Because Jean Messin Street is the central pedestrian street of Nice and the main shopping and dining area in Nice.
There are many shops, including the Galeries Lafayette, which is known as "Nice's most attractive shopping avenue". The small roads on both sides of the avenue also have a lively business atmosphere. There is also a well-known Monoprix supermarket here. The Monoprix supermarket has a wide range of products and is relatively cheap, which is a good choice for students who plan to travel on a budget.
You can consider buying food here. Even if you don't eat here, you can still replenish some food here. Next to the Monoprix supermarket is the Nicetolie department store, the largest department store in Nice. There are many pharmacies on this street, and there are many famous French cosmetics in the pharmacies, such as Vichy, Avene, La Roche-Posay, etc.
There is also the Basilica Notre Dame de Neige, which is worth a visit for those who like churches. At the north end of the street is Nice Central Railway Station. To the south you can see Place Massena, and after passing Place Massena you can see the Nice waterfront.
It is the Bay of Angels on the Cote d'Azur. After passing Place Massena, you can see the famous English Promenade des Anglais. It is only one kilometer from the train station through Avenue Jean Medecin to Place Massena, saving the money of taking the bus.
After resting in the hotel, Yunluo and An Chuyu set out with a group of five people to start sweeping the streets. They passed by the largest and first modern religious building in Nice, the Notre Dame Cathedral, which was built after the reconstruction of Nice (1864-1868). Inspired by the Angers Cathedral, the church uses 19th-century stained glass windows.
Two obelisks with gorgeous rose patterns are used as embellishments. There are many high street brands along the way. Yunluo and An Chuyu spent an afternoon shopping. In the blink of an eye, it was sunset. Yunluo and An Chuyu hurried to the Cote d'Azur that they longed for. Walking along Jean-Messin Street, they soon arrived at Place Massena.
Named after Marshal André Masséna (1758-1817), the most distinguished citizen of Nice, this is the intersection of the Rue Jean Mason, the seaside, and the Promenade des Anglais, and can be considered the city center of Nice. Galeries Lafayette is located in the building of the arcade on the left side of the picture above. Due to time constraints,
Yunluo and An Chuyu didn't go to see it. After crossing the square, we will soon arrive at Angel Bay. Let's take a group photo and mark it! Yunluo and An Chuyu are here at the beach! I didn't bring a swimsuit, so I could only take a photo with the sea. The first photo also captured a handsome guy~ Here are some normal friends~ The children playing around, super cute.
The beach in Nice is not sandy, but pebbled, so stepping on it hurts your feet like a mermaid. Even so, it did not stop Yunluo's friends from playing in the water. In the end, they were so careless that they sat directly in the sea with their clothes on. Seeing that the sun had already set, because of Yunluo's suggestion.
Jessi and Yunluo headed to the nearby Castle Hill. On the way from the Angel Bay to the Castle Hill is the famous English Promenade. In 1820, the British here funded the construction of the seaside promenade 'English Promenade'. This 3.5-kilometer-long high-end coastal promenade brings together the most expensive hotels in Nice. (To be continued...)
