Chapter 537: Watching the Long Flow of Water with Her

The London Marathon was held at that time, and vehicles were banned from the Tower Bridge. The cheering crowds filled both sides of the road with whistles and colorful promotional materials. The Tower Bridge was not covered with heavy colors because of its ancient history, but exuded soft beige and light blue of the steel part.

Whenever a contestant passed by, you could hear applause and whistles from the crowd, following the contestants across the Tower Bridge from far to near. I was deeply impressed by the British people's passion for sports and their straightforward positive energy.

Across the Tower Bridge is the Tower of London on the other side. There are various buildings in the castle, and you can also see sentries on duty. Every time a certain time comes, one of them will hold a gun and take exaggerated steps to walk back and forth in a circle, and then return to the sentry box to continue standing guard.

Inside the Tower of London, there are golden scepters used in royal ceremonies, various crowns, and colorful gems matched with colorful velvet, which shine brightly. There are also many highly decorative and huge golden tableware, which are extremely delicate and luxurious.

There was a couple in the hostel, whom I always met at breakfast. They were very quiet in the first few days, but from the tone of their voice, I could tell they were from all over the world. When Yunluo was about to leave, they were probably about to finish their trip to England. One morning, the uncle cheerfully asked Yunluo and Koala where they would go next.

After hearing that Yunluo was going to Scotland, the uncle and aunt excitedly told Yunluo Koala that their daughter was attending university in Edinburgh, and they had just returned from Edinburgh. Their daughter had also arranged a trip to Scotland for them. They joined a three-day tour to Angel Island. The uncle kept emphasizing to Yunluo the beauty of Angel Island and the simplicity and enthusiasm of the Scottish people.

He said frankly that in comparison, the people of Scotland were much more enthusiastic and simple. Facts have proved that the people of Edinburgh, Scotland, are indeed the most polite, simple, civilized and lovely people Yunluo has ever met. In this city with a high dimension, at first sight, Yunluo felt as if he had entered another world, a parallel world of different latitudes.

I heard that train travel is very comfortable for many Europeans, and sometimes even more comfortable than flying. British trains are completely different from domestic trains. Yunluo once saw a post describing British trains as equivalent to domestic green-skinned trains. Yunluo thought that perhaps such trains could only be seen in some very short and remote stations.

In fact, most of the UK has been covered by high-speed railways. If you buy tickets a month and a half in advance, you can get a lot of discounts. Sometimes the price of some first-class tickets is even cheaper than other economy class tickets.

The first-class cabins of British trains not only have charging sockets and spacious and comfortable seats, but also have dining cars that deliver snacks and drinks from time to time. The comfort level is far higher than that of domestic trains of the same level.

The train passed through beautiful towns in the suburbs of London. Heading north, the green grass along the way was refreshing. As the train swam in this boundless green, it was like a flying snake running in a boundless world without squares, flats, or straight lines.

The undulating hills and mountains in the distance are all green arcs, overlapping each other. The scattered white sheep make the grassland more charming.

Every time we arrived at a place, the scenery presented a natural beauty without composition or decoration, even without focus. The colors were soft and strong, and the single picture stretched endlessly. When the train was halfway through the journey and approached the lake area, the weather suddenly became gloomy. Suddenly, heavy rain poured in.

The slanting water columns turned into hazy moving horizontal lines on the glass as the train moved at high speed. At this moment, golden rays of sunset passed through the thick clouds and refracted by the water columns, illuminating the carriages, which were lightly dyed with a layer of shimmering soft golden light.

Little by little, the edge of this thick layer of clouds appeared in front of us. Beyond the clouds was a sky that was aqua blue but gradually turned into a warm color.

After a while, the endless rain clouds chased the train, as if reluctant to let it go, but gradually moved towards a bright and sunny side. The creeks that appeared from time to time meandered and split the grasslands dyed by the sun, continuously presenting the great love and beauty of nature.

Finally, at night, Yunluo and Koala arrived in Edinburgh. As soon as Koala got out of the station, he was fascinated by this place. The sun had set, but the sky was still bright. The whole sky was a deep and clear blue. The heavy but not monotonous outlines of the surrounding buildings made the city feel very close to the sky. The cold wind brought a fresh breath.

As the sun was about to set, the beauty was intoxicating. Yunluo, dragging her luggage, followed the jumping koala to guide her and groped her way to the hostel. The road in Edinburgh was undulating and the terrain was complex, with various bridges, high slopes, and bumpy stone roads in some places. It was really a big challenge for a girl dragging a suitcase.

It may be due to the recent economic downturn in Europe. Yunluo did see quite a few clean-looking, young homeless people sitting on the roadside begging in Edinburgh. The weather in Edinburgh was still very cold. Most of them were wrapped in thick cloth and sat on the roadside, not saying a word.

Yunluo dragged the box forward against the wind. When the wind blew, Yunluo trembled a little, until the heavy box made Yunluo sweat slightly. For such a young homeless man, sitting on the roadside at such a night must be very cold, so Koala found some coins and carefully put them in his bowl. He said, "Thank you dear, I wish you a pleasant night."

"Thank you, you too." Koala is a very loving little princess who often does good deeds.

Later, Yunluo got lost again, and Koala would gloat over his misfortune. Yunluo stopped a passerby and asked for the direction of the hotel. The other party was also a very young guy. He frowned when he saw Yunluo's address, then fiddled with it for a long time, opened the electronic map, entered the address, found the address for Yunluo, and told Yunluo how to get there.

Fortunately, the distance to the youth hostel was not far, just a few more intersections and a slope. After thanking him for his kind help, Yunluo walked with Koala and finally saw the big sign of the hostel.

Yunluo and Koala will only stay in this hostel for one night. Tomorrow Yunluo will join a two-day tour from Edinburgh to the Scottish Highlands, entering the wild Highlands and experiencing the true wild beauty of Scotland.

For the little koala princess, since director Robert has a holiday, don't think that koala will play for seven days and then go back to Paris, France. That's not a koala. The little princess rarely has the chance to be alone with Yunluo, so she naturally cherishes it.

We stayed in a very standardized and mass-market hotel because we booked online. If you are not a member of the social organization, you need to pay two pounds per person per night, and the Internet is one pound per hour, excluding breakfast. The rooms in the hostel have bunk beds, which are very clean. The washing and bathing are all integrated shower rooms, which are very uniform and standardized.

The next morning, Yunluo got up early, packed her bags, and went to the second hostel with Koala, who had nothing in her hands. This hostel was also the most beautiful hostel Yunluo had stayed in along the way. Not only did it have lovely staff, but it also had a lovely garden in front of the window. Every morning, the cry of seagulls on the roof always made Yunluo have a dream before waking up.

However, it was not an easy task for Yunluo to arrive at the hotel with luggage. The hotel was located behind Carlton Hill. After a bumpy cobblestone road, Yunluo had to sigh in front of the high hillside and cursed rudely.

Then he lowered his head and dragged the suitcase up the mountain step by step, because Yunluo knew that the time for Yunluo and the tour group to meet was getting closer and closer. If he didn't hurry up, Yunluo and Koala would probably miss the departure time.

A blonde, blue-eyed, older lady asked Yunluo why she came, checked Yunluo and Koala's reservation information, and readily let Yunluo store her luggage. After Yunluo thanked her, he trotted down the mountain with his travel bag and Koala, but when he looked at his watch, he saw that there were still 20 minutes before the group's meeting time.

But Yunluo still knew nothing about the streets of Edinburgh, and it was impossible to predict whether Yunluo could arrive at the designated time. Moreover, even if Yunluo did not find the wrong way, the time was not optimistic. So, it was the only time in Yunluo and Koala's journey that they tried the notoriously expensive taxi service in the UK.

British taxis have a retro appearance. But once you get in, you'll find that the interior is very spacious, and the area left by the retractable seats is more than enough to accommodate a wheelchair.

It is not as difficult to get a taxi in the UK as in China, perhaps because of the high prices. According to locals, if you take a taxi directly from the airport, it may cost nearly 100 pounds to get back to your home in the city center, which is equivalent to more than 1,000 yuan.

The driver politely asked Yunluo about her destination, and then drove forward in full compliance with traffic rules. Even when he encountered a road congestion, he drove slowly and did not cut in or change lanes. Yunluo, who was sitting in the back of the car, was extremely anxious, but was too embarrassed to rush because of his face.

It was actually about a fifteen-minute walk, but a taxi cost more than 5 pounds. Yunluo paid the fare and got off the car, immediately looking around for the departure location of the group, not knowing that he had done something very ungraceful.

Perhaps it was because Yunluo's guide was not detailed enough. Taxis in the UK require tips, just like restaurants. The driver was polite and did not ask Yunluo for or remind her. But when Yunluo reviewed the guide again afterwards and found such an error, she couldn't help feeling a little embarrassed. More importantly, such an expensive fare plus a 15% tip was indeed a bit puzzling.

The little koala princess knew it but she didn't say anything. She just smiled and watched Yunluo being the boss and found it very interesting.

The two people signed up for a tour with a relatively large travel agency in Scotland. The staff were all wearing dark green tops. Of course, the driver and tour guide also had to wear a traditional Scottish skirt and thick white socks, letting the thick hair on his bare legs flutter in the cold Scottish wind.

Our tour guide was a Scottish guy with long blond hair, wearing glasses but very funny and dedicated. But in actual conversation, he was just like other people in the tourism industry, with a calm demeanor that comes from having seen countless people.

Along the way, we sped along the road to Glasgow, listening to the fast-paced Scottish bagpipes, the mysterious and strange voice of the guy who accompanied us from time to time, and the jokes that were so fast that they were almost inaudible. Even before entering the Highlands, the endless grasslands and vegetation unique to cold regions on both sides, as well as the anticipation of the trip had already immersed us in a joyful atmosphere.

The young man's joking was indeed a side dish for this Highlands trip. After picking up the rest of the group, we went deeper into the Highlands. The old couple we met in the London hotel had told Yunluo that the Highlands were very large and we could hardly see even the surface of the land in two days.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

We also saw many private cars driven by families on the way, but our tourist minibus was rare, and most of them carried bicycles on the roof. Whenever we arrived at a beautiful place, we would see people stopping and riding along the bicycle path.

Scotland is a vast country, and the weather is extremely cold in the Highlands. Even in this season, some not-so-high mountains still have snow on them, and with the blue sky and white clouds, it sometimes feels like being in heaven.

But unlike heaven, there is civilization there. Even in the uninhabited wilderness, bicycle paths are all paved, vaguely embedded in the yellow grass, winding around. I have to admire the local government's intentions. Compared to this, the utilization rate of bicycle paths must not be particularly high.

Moreover, such a long and remote lane will certainly require a lot of construction and maintenance costs, but if there is a reason for its existence, the government will fund its construction and maintenance.

Every glance along the road is a beautiful picture. The layers of trees are like the pastoral scenery in those classical paintings, with such trees and such hillsides. Perhaps these artists just recorded and described the beauty they saw to the best of their ability.

The ancient and desolate buildings, coupled with the unique sunlight and light of the plateau, and the dark mountains in the background, may be a masterpiece flashing in my eyes for just a second, and then at another corner, I saw a sparkling stream against the background.

Winding trees lean over the stream from one side, and the beautiful yellow grass is like an extremely thick carpet, stretching all the way to the sky.

Yunluo likes to call this kind of beauty great beauty, which is shocking. But Yunluo loves the lovely people of Scotland more. In the evening of the first day, we arrived at a small town by Loch Ness, which is at a higher latitude than London. The air was thin and cold, and the beautiful town was shrouded in golden clouds. Koala happily led Yunluo along the river covered with daffodils.

The sounds of children playing can be heard from time to time within the low walls, and the little flowers peeking out from the yard greet us from time to time. There are also fruits of various colors, or shrubs with small flowers. If there is a place called paradise, this must be one of them, a place where you can fall asleep and wake up at any time.

The low slope behind the church was covered with green grass. The furry dots attracted the attention of Yunluo and Koala. Upon closer inspection, they saw furry little rabbits foraging on the grass. The black holes next to them were their nests, of various sizes and colors.

At night, the surroundings were extremely quiet, with perhaps only the strong smell of whiskey, rich flavors and laughter in some pubs. The youth hostel I stayed in that night was quite good, with lockers for clothes, a small restaurant downstairs, and spacious bathing facilities.

Yunluo and Koala were walking in the small town in the early morning. For such a remote town, few people would get up so early. The streets were almost empty. Yunluo ordered an Italian spicy sandwich according to his memory of yesterday, and Koala ordered fried eggs and toast.

Two people sat slowly on a bench in the small street, enjoying the early morning sunlight and drinking tea bags. In the cold morning, they felt instantly illuminated.

It turned out that sandwiches were the best choice when you couldn't understand the dishes described on the complicated menu. In most cases, the expensive meals you ordered were not as delicious or healthy as Subway.

The journey back to Edinburgh was equally beautiful. The people in the town were all beautiful and happy, and could not stop the tourists from tasting the handmade ice cream. After lunch at a cake shop, Yunluo ordered a mango scoop. The lovely lady gave Yunluo a big one. Yunluo chewed the ice cream and walked back leisurely with Koala while strolling around the street.

He turned around suddenly and almost bumped into an extremely old man. The other person was obviously startled by Yun Luo's sudden turn, but in just a moment, he noticed the ice cream in Yun Luo's hand. A sly smile appeared on his wrinkled and sunken face, and he made a gesture with his hand as if he was stealing the ice cream. Yun Luo was stunned on the spot.

Then she burst into laughter, made a gesture of "don't even think about it", and said goodbye to him politely. No matter how old she is, these lovely people in the British town are unforgettable to Yunluo. The different interpretations and optimism of life may only be seen in that sly smile and the fingers bent to steal ice cream.

It was dusk again when we returned to Edinburgh, but for this city, this time was more like afternoon. People were coming and going, but the shops closed early strictly according to the local time and did not obey the arrangements of the sun.

Yunluo walked all the way back to the hotel where she had stored her luggage and checked in quickly. The porter had already placed Yunluo's luggage in the room, which really made Yunluo breathe a sigh of relief, as Yunluo's suitcase was really heavy.

When he walked up to the room, Yun Luo was even more thankful for himself, because the stairs of the hotel were extremely steep, and Yun Luo's room was located on the attic of the top floor, which was equivalent to the height of a four-story building. Just walking up to the top floor with a travel bag on his back made Yun Luo feel dizzy. He couldn't imagine what it would be like if he also carried a box. (To be continued...)
