Yunluo felt that he and Yan Chenyu were a very suitable couple. If An Chuyu hadn't confessed his love in advance, they might have just held hands. Yunluo felt that he liked Yan Chenyu's quietness more, which always made him feel very happy and a little happy.
Every stone in Qiushan looks like a mountain when viewed from the front and a peak when viewed from the side. It has a lot of Huangshan connotations. If you find a way down from the top of the mountain, the biggest feeling you get is that the entire mountain is "empty". This is the virtual-real technique of the rockery.
Relatively speaking, lake stone rockery is easier to stack than Yellow stone rockery, because lake stone itself is porous and has a certain ethereal feeling; but Yellow stone has a thick texture and a single shape, and it is difficult to make it "hollow".
However, if a master is able to do it well, the majestic momentum of the mountain can be better displayed. The autumn mountain in Geyuan is solid but not dull, high and steep, and strange and dangerous. Moreover, great attention is paid to the changes in the concave and convex shapes of the mountain and the combination of caves and gullies. It is the pinnacle of Huangshi rockery.
The stones of Huangshan are brown and yellow, with sharp edges and corners, as if they were cut by a knife or an axe. The whole mountain is steep and towering, and looks magnificent and majestic. Entering the mountain is like entering a mountain, and dangerous and strange places can be seen at any time.
The central peak is towering and precipitous, with stone chambers, stone benches, stone tables, caves on the top of the mountain, a line of stone bridges and flying beams, and deep valleys. There are two-dimensional windings and three-dimensional twists and turns, up and down the mountain, and connected with pavilions, giving people an endless feeling in a limited area. Its stacking and construction are exquisite, which can be said to have reached the pinnacle, and it has become the only example left in the current Jiangnan gardens.
Yunluo and Yanchenyu can walk eastward from the Baoshan Pavilion to the Fuyun Pavilion on the top of the Zhongfeng Mountain in Qiushan. The pavilion is named "Fuyun" because it is so high that it can touch the clouds. This is the tallest building in the garden.
Standing in it, one can overlook the entire garden, with ancient trees, rockery, pools and buildings all at one's feet. At this moment, Xiashan in the west of the garden really seems like a sea of clouds within reach. This is the origin of Xiashan's other name "Qiuyun".
Looking out from Fuyun Pavilion, I suddenly feel cheerful and open-minded, and the whole garden is in full view. It is true that autumn mountains are suitable for climbing. If it is sunny at dusk, the autumn mountains will face the sunset, and they will be dyed red. The poetic and picturesque feeling of "the clear and refreshing autumn" will overflow immediately.
Earlier, when looking north from here, one could see the Slender West Lake, Pingshan Hall, and Guanyin Mountain. Unfortunately, due to the growth of the city, this pavilion can no longer "borrow" those beautiful views.
In ancient my country, there was a custom of climbing high places to enjoy the view on the Double Ninth Festival in autumn. Here, the garden designer cleverly used a pavilion that is "high enough to touch the clouds" to convey the theme of autumn.
Fuyun Pavilion is located on the top of Zhongfeng Mountain, but the Huangshi Mountain to the south of the pavilion is still above the pavilion, higher than the pavilion eaves, and the platform on the top of the peak is only large enough for one person to stand. However, if you climb up the stone steps here, the feeling of being high above and far away from the world will be unforgettable.
Although this place is extremely steep, people will never feel the slightest fear when they are there, because there is a pavilion behind them, which gives people psychological support and quietly calms their panic. This is another wonderful feature of the design of Fuyun Pavilion.
According to the motto of "the light does not pass, the dark does. The big does not pass, the straight does. The curved does not pass". Walk along the mountain path to the bottom, go east, towards the bright light, and you will see a stone table with a "window" above it, where the light falls.
Four people sit around this table, two people play chess. They all have their own wild charm. To the east of the stone table is a stone bed, with a bedside lamp and a footstool. Opposite the stone bed is a stone window, with a stone table under the window and stone benches on both sides. There is a table, a bed, a window, a table and a bench here. It is clearly a fully functional stone house.
Outside the window is a courtyard, surrounded by mountains on all sides, with a flower bed in the center and a Podocarpus macrophylla. Don't underestimate this flower bed that can only hold one tree, for it has broken two shackles. If there were no flower bed, you would run into a wall when you come out of the stone house.
Without it, people would be trapped in the courtyard with walls on all sides, which would make them "prisoners". The ancient Chinese paid great attention to Feng Shui when building houses, and even when building stone houses, they had to avoid some taboos. Huang Shi, the second son of the owner of the garden, "said that his home was in a high cave in the Dadi stone house", and it was indeed here! With such a wonderful view, it is no wonder that Yangzhou people "don't watch the Guangling tide when they hear the autumn sound in August".
Outside the stone house, you can see two bridges with white marble railings that are higher than your head, arranged in a zigzag pattern. If you turn west halfway down the mountain just now, you can stand on this bridge after crossing a line. The bridge deck is a strip of yellow stone, but this stone is not as vigorous as other similar stones. It seems to have been soaked in flowing water for millions of years, with ripples, erosion, and moss.
If you stand on the bridge, you will see a cliff above and a deep pool below. At the same time, when you are under the bridge, you will feel like you are standing on a boat and the boat is sailing on the water. Although there is not a spoonful of real water here, the artistic conception of water is everywhere. This landscaping technique is called "dry landscape" or "dry water" in gardens.
Maple is the most common plant in the autumn mountains. In the south of the Yangtze River, any tree with forked leaves is called maple. Once the autumn frost comes, the leaves turn deep red. However, not all maple leaves turn red only in autumn. The red maple in front of the Qiu Pavilion is red all year round.
So no matter what season you visit the autumn mountains, you will always feel the "rustling of maple leaves and reeds". Whenever the sun sets, the red maple leaves on the Yellowstone double the autumn colors, and people walking in it really feel like they are in the autumn mountains.
Under the window of the stone house, there are stone steps at the easternmost part of the courtyard that lead to the southern peak of Qiu Mountain. You can also spiral up by exiting the courtyard to the west and turning right. There is a mountain building on the southern peak, facing west, with a plaque hanging on it that reads "Zhu Qiu Pavilion".
People are afraid of the bleakness of autumn and want to design ways to retain spring. So why would the owner of a garden want to "stay in autumn" here?
It turns out that Huang Zhiyun had a rough life when he was young. His middle age was a period of success and success in his career. The autumn of his life was really a golden season for him. Spring flowers are not as good as autumn fruits. Although spring has many flowers, only the abundant fruits of autumn can make people deeply experience the joy of success.
"Living in Autumn" here not only points out the charm of autumn again, but also reveals why the owner of the garden is willing to use "pen and ink" from different angles to vigorously exaggerate the theme of autumn, which is the most wonderful summary of autumn. However, the most beautiful time always goes by the fastest. No matter how reluctant he is to autumn and how much he wants to keep this golden season, time will not stop for a moment.
Let's look at the couplet written by Banqiao in front of the door: "Autumn comes in from the sound of summer rain; Spring is found in the winter plum blossoms." It cleverly describes the changes in the scenery of the four seasons and the flow of time.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu walked down the hill from Zhuqiu Pavilion and walked a few steps south to Dongshan, which is the largest group of rockeries in the garden. It is the most ingenious, unique and creative one, made of Xuan stone in three ways: stacking, sticking and surrounding.
It depicts the mood of winter from three perspectives: color, shape, and sound, and uses plants and buildings to set off the atmosphere of winter. Even in the hottest summer, you will still feel the chill when you linger there.
Xuanshi, also known as snow stone, comes from Xuancheng, Anhui Province. It is round and round in shape. In Yuanye, it is described as "the older it is, the whiter it is. It looks like a snowy mountain." Its main component is quartz. Quartz sparkles under direct sunlight, but appears white under backlight, like the remaining snow in winter.
Here, the Xuan stone is placed under the south wall of the north side of the Ventilated and Moon-leaking Hall, with pink walls and flower windows on three sides and a hall on one side, creating the artistic conception of the snow not melting under the backlight. Although the top of the mountain above the wall is shining due to the sunlight, it does not violate the theme of snow viewing here. Instead, it highlights the peak of the winter mountain and increases the texture of the snow on the rockery.
The stone stackers here made meticulous observations and use of color. At the foot of the mountain, white alum stones were paved in the shape of ice cracks to enhance the cold winter atmosphere.
The stone of Dongshan is crystal white, and each stone has almost no visible edges and corners, giving people a sense of ups and downs. This place is backed by a high wall and almost never sees sunlight all year round, so whether you look at it from close up or from a distance, it seems to be covered with a layer of unmelted snow, faintly emitting a cold and pressing light.
The garden designer made each piece of Xuan stone into a lion. From a distance, it looks like a snow lion leaping and dancing, adorable and naive. Winter is bleak and lonely. So there is a saying in painting that "winter mountains are bleak and sleepy", but who wants their garden to look like this?
In order to break the depression of winter, pieces of lion-shaped pictographic Xuan stone are used here. When stacking them, great attention is paid to adapting to the terrain, so that the height, density and size of the entire winter mountain echo each other.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu looked from afar, it seemed as if countless lions were playing in the snow. Each lion looked around with affection and looked naive. The lonely winter was filled with infinite vitality. Therefore, Dongshan was called "Lions Playing in the Snow" or "Hundreds of Lions Under Snow".
Dongshan Duodi is mainly built on the wall, and the remaining mountain range extends to form a flower platform, where three wintersweets, several clumps of holly and an old elm tree are planted. The three wintersweets are all famous products of Yangzhou. One of them is "Dongqiansu", which blooms the earliest and blooms around the winter solstice. The other is "Yangzhou Huang", which has short and round petals and a darker color than ordinary wintersweets, and blooms a little later than Dongqiansu.
There is also a white plum, which blooms around the beginning of spring, so from the winter solstice to the beginning of spring, the whole winter is filled with subtle fragrance, with plum blossoms and snow complementing each other.
In winter, the leaves and fruits of the mulberry tree turn red, forming a sharp contrast with the snow on the mountain. The only tree on the mountain in winter is the old elm tree. Generally, elm trees are rarely used in gardens. This tree has neither the fragrance of flowers, nor the graceful leaves and beautiful trunks.
But planting it here is a stroke of genius, because the winter scenery of residual snow is exactly the desolation of old trees and crows. Of course, you can also take the meaning of "abundance every year (elm)".
"Shape" and "color" are visible, and are also the usual expression methods used by garden designers. In order to apply the fleeting sound to the garden, four rows of circular holes were built on the south wall, six in each row, a total of 24, each hole is about one foot in diameter, evenly distributed and neatly arranged.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
Winter is the end of the year, so it is natural to think of it as representing the 24 solar terms in a year. However, here it not only conveys the changes of the years, but is also the most unique and imaginative arrangement of the designer. These holes are called "wind sound holes".
Dongshan is located at the southernmost end of the garden. The high wall where the Fengyin Cave is located and the back wall of the residential area on Geyuan 3rd Road form a long and narrow passage. When the wind passes through the high wall and narrow alley, negative pressure is formed, which accelerates the flow rate.
At this time, the four rows of holes on the wall were like four long-waiting flutes, whirring and making the sound of the whistling north wind, playing the music of winter and giving people a chilly feeling.
According to conventional practice, a stained glass window should be set up at the location of Fengyin Cave, but the Xuan stone is round in shape, resembling a snowdrift, and is dotted with various colors. If traditional polished brick stained glass windows are used as the background, the texture of the Xuan stone will be weakened and the meaning of snow will be diluted.
If only a section of white wall was used, it would appear too monotonous. Here, the garden designer very creatively used the simplest geometric shape "circle" to create holes, which not only replaced the stained glass windows, but also brought in the "cold" wind. It is truly ingenious.
Several wintersweets on the side of the mountain set off the severe cold of winter. Just when people are facing the dignified and quiet winter scenery and sighing at the end of the year, they suddenly look back and find a hole window on the west wall, revealing a corner of spring scenery, as if waving to people, suggesting that spring is coming again.
Winter is the final chapter of the four seasons, but it does not mean the end. The two round windows on the west wall of Dongshan extend our sight. Through these round windows, the bamboo stalagmites of Chunshan come into view again. It immediately makes people think of "the earth returns to spring, and the cycle repeats itself".
The designer's ingenious ideas are so impressive that Yunluo and Yan Chenyu can't help but applaud! At this point, will you also sigh in your heart: "Winter is here, can spring be far behind?" This window setting is the finishing touch.
The Congshu Building is located on the east side of Dongshan Mountain and the southernmost part of Qiushan Mountain. The mountain and the building are cleverly combined, and the building has become the most elegant ending of Qiushan Mountain. The stone steps in the mountains lead to the upper floor. This building is backed by Qiushan Mountain and faces south. There are six rooms in total. From the name, we can know that this is where the owner stores books and reads. It is away from the main tourist route in the garden, and the architectural style is also relatively simple.
There is a courtyard in front of the building, with a phoenix tree planted, the trunk of which has leaned out of the eaves, which has a sense of "the lonely phoenix tree in the deep courtyard locks the autumn".
There is a large crabapple-shaped lattice window on the east wall, and through the window are a few banana trees that rustle even when there is no rain. The water-ground brick lattice window on the west side is the largest lattice window in the garden. Through it, you can have a panoramic view of the Xuanshi and wintersweets of the entire Dongshan Mountain. What's more wonderful is that it is on the same horizontal line as the circular lattice window on the west wall of the winter scene, so our sight can penetrate the winter scene and see the bamboo in the spring scene.
Ji Cheng wrote in "Yuan Ye": "The scenery is borrowed". Although there is only one sycamore tree in the courtyard, the banana and winter plum trees on the wall and the sycamore tree in the courtyard are cleverly "borrowed" through the flower window to create a quiet and indifferent interest.
Located in the north of Dongshan Mountain, Toufeng Louyuexuan is a three-room hall that is open from north to south and enclosed by walls from east to west. The corners of the house are raised, the roof is flat, and the shape is heavy, giving it a "Beijing flavor".
This is because Yangzhou was often visited by emperors. In order to cater to the emperor's preferences, many of Yangzhou's garden buildings imitated the styles of buildings in the capital, such as the Breeze-filled Moon-filled Pavilion.
The whole hall is very beautifully designed, with bright windows on all four sides, especially the two blue glass panels on the east and west sides, which were purchased from abroad at a high price and were very rare at the time. The hall offers beautiful views of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
The structure of the Ventilated and Moon-Locking Pavilion is a square hall. The raised beam structure is square, the rafters are square, the pillars are square, the stone drums are square, the stone steps are square, the floor is paved with square bricks, and even the wooden windows are square. To be continued.
