Chapter 847: Men are not good people



The pavilion faces the stream in the garden, and a red plank bridge is built on the west side of the stream. ∽↗Top∽↗Point∽↗Small∽↗Story, a "Z"-shaped hall is built on the west side of the red plank bridge, and peonies are planted outside the hall, half of which is the Peony Hall. In front is Lanzhu, and in the back is Cangdun Pavilion. There are couplets on both sides of the plaque of "Eating Clouds and Drinking Clear Water": It is better to pour green wine from a deep cup; you must walk straight up to the blue sky.

On both sides of the plaque of Gentle Wind and Clear Moon are couplets: Leading the cranes to walk slowly along the three paths at dawn; Fishing for plum blossoms together and drinking a pot of wine together in spring. I don’t know why the Butterfly Hall is named so, as there are no butterflies. On both sides of the door of the Butterfly Hall are couplets: Near the shore, mooring the boat, the flowers want to speak; Opening the pavilion to discuss tea, guests often come. On both sides of the plaque "餐霞饮清清" there are couplets: It is better to pour the green wine from the deep cup; one must step straight up to the blue sky.

A two-courtyard garden was built on the site of the White Pagoda and Clear Clouds. It is mainly composed of three groups of buildings: the Flower South and Water North Hall, Jicui Pavilion, Qulang, Banting, and Linxiangxie. The "White Pagoda and Clear Clouds" plaque was inscribed by calligrapher Lai Shaoqi.

The buildings and renovations of Tingyu, small ponds, winding streams and earthen mounds surrounding the scenic area have basically realized the water town atmosphere of "the villa overlooks the green meadow and the front porch is on the river".

Speaking of "White Pagoda and Clear Clouds", people always think that this scenic spot is the White Pagoda, which is as famous as the Five Pavilion Bridge. In fact, it is one of the 24 scenic spots in Yangzhou and the first scenic spot in Gangdong.

In the 22nd year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, Imperial Censor Gao opened the new river of Lianhua Ridge to Pingshan Hall, and famous gardens were built on both banks. On the north bank, there are three sections: Baita Qingyun, Shibi Liucong, and Jinquan Huayu. This garden is indeed related to the White Pagoda. It uses a kind of garden art technique, namely the borrowed scenery method.

Going west from Fahai Temple, you will reach the famous Twenty-Four Bridges scenic area of ​​Slender West Lake. The name Twenty-Four Bridges comes from the poem of Du Mu, a famous Tang Dynasty poet: Green mountains are hidden in the distance, waters are far away, autumn is over, grass in the south of the Yangtze River is still not withered; on a moonlit night at the Twenty-Four Bridges, where is the beautiful girl teaching me to play the flute?

There are many explanations about the "Twenty-Four Bridges" in Yangzhou. There are three more orthodox ones: one is that it refers specifically to a bridge called the Twenty-Four Bridges; the other is that there were indeed twenty-four bridges in Yangzhou in the Song Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty scientist Shen Kuo recorded the names of the twenty-four bridges in detail in the supplement to Mengxi Bitan.

Another theory is that it refers to the fact that there were many bridges in Yangzhou during the Tang Dynasty. According to folk legend, it was named after "twenty-four beauties played the flute here in ancient times". The Twenty-Four Bridges Scenic Area we see now was restored in its original location based on the original map of the Twenty-Four Bridges Scenic Area in "The Grand Ceremony of Emperor Qianlong's Southern Tour". It basically maintains the original appearance during the Qianlong period.

The Twenty-Four Bridges Scenic Area includes Xichun Terrace, Linglong Flower Realm, General Xiao Li's Painting Book, Wangchun Tower and Twenty-Four Bridges, etc. Qingyunxuan is now a supermarket and also operates a catering business.

The plaque on Qingyunxuan is written in Li Shenghe's official script, and there is a couplet on the pillar in front of the door: The spring water in the lake, half filled with clear clouds, is clear and drinkable; the lotus under the bridge, the new buds are just blooming, beautiful and edible.

The first couplet describes the spring scenery, and the second couplet describes the summer scenery. The spring water ripples. The clear clouds float, the rainbow bridge lies, and the lotus buds bloom. The scenery and the emotions complement each other, which is really a feast for the eyes! Linglong Flower Realm is west of the Lotus Bridge and south of Xichun Terrace. It is characterized by the planting of peonies. The "flowers" in Linglong Flower Realm are not a hundred flowers blooming together. Instead, they are a single flower, that is, the peony, which is as famous as the Luoyang peony.

Although Linglong Flower World is an old scene that has been restored in recent years, its origin is not short. In the Song Dynasty, there was a saying of "peony and peony". Ouyang Xiu once had such a poem: Qionghua and peony are unparalleled in the world. If I don't write a poem, I will blame people. Let's get drunk under the Wushuang Pavilion, knowing that I have lived up to the spring of Guangling.

The Twenty-Four Bridges are also known as the Peony Bridge. If you go to Yangzhou in late spring or early summer, you can enjoy the Guangling peony, which was known as the "best in the world" as early as the Song Dynasty.

The faded peach blossoms are reflected in the deep willows, and the garden is full of peonies. I want to go to the ninth heaven. I ask you where the silk fragrance is, and the late spring brews the wine of parting. The red fire is in full swing, and the makeup is shy. Please invite me to dance in the pavilion with hairpins. The drunk Xi Shi went to find Lu Bu, and found the imperial concubine and smiled at her white hair.

Every mid-spring, the Linglong Flower World Scenic Area in the Slender West Lake is always "prosperous and beautiful; red peony flowers are blooming on the steps". The Linglong Flower World Scenic Area starts from the Jiahe River of Fahai Temple in the east and ends at Yinyue Tea House in the west. In the old days, there was a wide pond with many white lotuses planted. The pond was dotted with jade flowers and dripping with pearls, so it was named Linglong Flower World.

There is a stone here now, with four crooked characters "Linglong Flower World" engraved on it. The introduction says: This place is full of Yangzhou flowers - peonies, and it was known as "Guangling peonies are the best in the world" in the Song Dynasty.

There is a waterside pavilion in the scenic area, with the plaque inscribed by Mr. Ouyang Zhongshi. There is a couplet on each of the north and south pillars. The couplet on the north side reads: Flowers and willows embrace the red sun; pavilions surround the winding pool.

The red flowers and green willows enjoy the warm sunshine, and the beautiful buildings and terraces feel the care of the gurgling water. In addition to the harmonious rhythm and well-balanced parallelism, the word order of this couplet is also very consistent with the usage of the verbs:

It is clearly the "red sun" that shines on the "flowers and willows", but it is said that "the flowers and willows contain the red sun"; seeing the "winding pool" surrounding the "towers and pavilions", it is said that "the towers and pavilions surround the winding pool".

Flowers, willows, and pavilions complement each other comfortably, while the red sun and the curved pool look at each other affectionately. The word "contain" and the word "circle" transform stillness into movement, full of vitality. The word "red" shows the bright color of sunshine, and the word "curved" reveals the graceful shape of flowing water. How can you not be intoxicated when you are here?

The upper and lower lines of this couplet come from the poems of Song Zhiwen and Lu Zhaolin respectively. The famous poets' lines are naturally wonderful, and the one who tied these two wonderful lines together is indeed a master of sentence collection. Such a perfect combination of sentences and couplets is really rare and precious.

The couplet on the south pillar of the waterside pavilion is also worth reading carefully: Red peaches and green willows hang down from the eaves; green stones and green moss cover the shade of the trees. Standing in front of the waterside pavilion, reciting the couplets and appreciating them slowly is a great pleasure.

Further ahead is the famous Guanshao Pavilion, with a plaque inscribed by Zheng Banqiao, with a couplet: "Flowers are in full bloom and spring is beautiful, red peony flowers are turning over on the steps." This is also a collection of verses. The first line is from Bao Zhao's "Poems on History" in the Southern Song Dynasty: "Cold and summer are in the same season, and spring is in full bloom." The second line is from Xie Tiao's "Poems for the Secretariat" in the Southern Qi Dynasty: "Red peony flowers are turning over on the steps, and green moss is on the wall." Hongyao is another name for peony.

The buildings across the lake from Linglong Flower Realm are Wangchun Tower and General Xiaoli's Painting Book. They are completely in the style of Jiangnan gardens, and the architectural layout is subordinate to Xichun Terrace. The color tone is fresh and elegant, fully reflecting the beauty of the south.

Go west along the lake from the south side of Wuting Bridge, and walk along a flower path. At the north corner of the lake, there is a group of scenic spots, one of which is Wangchun Tower. The three words "Wangchun Tower" have rich meanings. Standing here, you can not only see the "Xichun Terrace" building, but also take in the spring of Slender West Lake.

You can also enjoy close contact with the charming spring here, because the two rooms in the north and south downstairs are the mountain courtyard and the water courtyard respectively. The mountain scenery and water scenery ripples inside the room, and you will naturally be full of spring breeze and spring.

The upper half of Wangchun Tower is a terrace, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the garden, and it is a good place to enjoy the moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The north and south rooms of the lower floor are the water courtyard and the mountain courtyard respectively, and the sun can be seen from the top.

The horizontal plaque "Wangchun Tower" is inscribed by Zheng Banqiao, and a couplet written by the famous calligrapher Wei Tianchi hangs on the pillars: "Just saw the early spring orioles flying out of the valley; On a sunny day, the willows are covered with smoke." This couplet was originally written in "White Pagoda, Clear Clouds, Half Green Pavilion" of "Twenty-four Scenes of the Northern Suburbs of Yangzhou" in the Qing Dynasty, and was collected by Jinzong Pavilion.

The first couplet of this poem is from the second couplet of Wei Zhuang's seven-character regulated verse "Replying to a friend's Spring Evening Letter to Cui Xiucai" in the Tang Dynasty: "Just seeing the early spring orioles flying out of the valley, I have already startled the new summer swallows to build nests on the beams." The compiler changed "see" to "see"; the second couplet is the last line of the first couplet of Su Yan's seven-character regulated verse "Replying to the Spring Day Xingwangchun Palace in response to the imperial order": "Looking eastward, I see spring, and it is pitiful. On a sunny day, the willows are covered with smoke."

"Early spring" has beautiful scenery, and "sunny day" is a good time. "The orioles fly out of the valley", with their delicate voices, which fits the mountain courtyard; "the willows are covered with smoke", with thick green shade, which corresponds to the water courtyard. This couplet is also a clever intertextual couplet, with the couplets echoing each other, complementing each other, blending up and down, depicting a picture of early spring orioles and willows for us, not to mention that this picture is also accompanied by the sound of nature - the singing of the yellow oriole.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

Appreciating the couplet, watching the scenery, and enjoying the mood, I wonder how many tourists will be intoxicated by it and not want to leave.

To the west of Wangchun Tower is the "Xiao Li General's Painting Pavilion", with a pond and a curved bridge connecting the two floors. The pavilion faces east with three pillars, five beams, corridors on four sides, and a beauty seat. A porch is added to the east to highlight the entrance hall. Facing west, there is a square window in the middle, and a plaque with Zheng Banqiao's calligraphy "Xiao Li General's Painting Pavilion" is hung outside.

General Xiao Li refers to Li Zhaodao, the son of Li Sixun, a great painter in the Tang Dynasty. Although the father and son had never led troops, they were both given the title and treatment of generals. They were both famous painters at the time. They often used azurite and malachite green pigments to render the pictures, making the mountains, rocks and trees colorful and verdant, and drew gold powder lines on the outlines of the mountains and rocks, jointly creating the Jinbi landscape painting school in the Tang Dynasty in China.

As the saying goes, "Flowers are the source of paintings, and the moon is the source of poetry." The name "General Xiao Li's Painting Book" refers to the fact that the scenery here is very similar to General Xiao Li's landscape paintings. Perhaps it means copying General Xiao Li's painting book, rather than copying the beautiful scenery of the Twenty-Four Bridges Scenic Area.

During the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Sixun, a painter from the imperial clan, served as the governor of Jiangdu. Later, he was granted the title of General of the Right Guard and was known as General Da Li. His son Li Zhaodao, courtesy name Xijun, was good at painting green landscapes, birds and animals, towers, figures, and seascapes. He served as a military officer in the Yangzhou Grand Military Governor's Office and was known as General Xiao Li.

General Xiao Li's Painting Pavilion was designed according to Li Zhaodao's painting ideas. Looking through the fan-shaped windows at the magnificent silhouette of Xichun Terrace opposite, one can recall the graceful and luxurious atmosphere of the art of the prosperous Tang Dynasty.

There is a couplet in seal script hanging here: Ten thousand wells and towers look like embroidered paintings; thousands of houses in the mountain villages are quietly bathed in the morning light.

The first couplet is from one of Li Shanfu's "Cold Food Poems" in the Tang Dynasty: "Ten thousand wells and towers look like embroidery paintings, and the nine plains are like mist and clouds." The second couplet is from the first couplet of one of Du Fu's "Eight Poems of Autumn": "A thousand houses in the mountains are quiet in the morning light, and one day I sit in the river tower and admire the green mountains."

Wanjing, in ancient times, one li was one well, so Wanjing means 10,000 square li. In the poem "Water Melody: Guilin Mid-Autumn Festival" by Zhang Xiaoxiang of the Song Dynasty, it says: "Thousands of miles of rivers and mountains are like a painting, and music and singing are heard all night long in Wanjing." Embroidery refers to pictures embroidered with colored silk. During the Three Kingdoms period, Mrs. Zhao, the wife of Sun Quan, the ruler of Wu, could embroider on square silk, and made pictures of the Five Mountains, rivers and seas, cities and towns, and battle formations of various countries. People at that time called it a needlework masterpiece.

Reciting this couplet, I feel the imagery is vivid and the realm is broad. Looking around, the thousands of wells and houses bathed in the morning sun, together with the jade towers and terraces, distant mountains and nearby towns, form a colorful landscape painting. People in the painting feel like they are in a dream, like entering a fairyland, and it is hard to leave.

The cornerstone poem says: Looking from the railing of the Twenty-Four Bridges, a lake of spring water is all misty. The gentle breeze blows the peach blossom rain, and swallows and sparrows fly lightly in the willow wind. The melodious bells of the ancient temple are far away, and the spirits are shrouded in misty purple mist. Where is the general's painting now? It is clearly in the painting. (To be continued..)
