Chapter 915: There is Fun in the Mountains and Forests

It is about 88 meters long. In the past two or three decades, its thinnest and narrowest part has experienced three large rock falls, so the thinnest part is becoming thinner and thinner.

Perhaps, one day in the near future, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu will read the news in the newspaper that the Landscape Arch has completely collapsed, so it would be wise to take more photos with it while it is still alive.

The landscape arch was the first place Yunluo and Yan Chenyu needed to walk to after arriving at the park. However, the journey was not long, and it took more than an hour to go back and forth. The tourists walking on the road were all from all over the world. From their conversations, we could tell that the French were the most numerous, and there were also many Koreans and Japanese, and of course Chinese tourists.

Most of the tourists came with their families. Some of the children had just learned to walk and were brought by their parents to experience nature. Yunluo admired such parents very much, as they started to train their children's willpower when they were so young.

After viewing the landscape arch, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu drove back to the south center of the park, where the north and south windows are and the park management staff will accompany you to view the attractions and explain them as you go.

The manager who explained the situation to Yunluo and Yan Chenyu happened to be the one they had consulted at the visitor center. He was about 60 years old, with gray hair, but he was energetic and walked briskly. What surprised Yunluo and Joy was that on the way to visit these arches.

He did not spend any time explaining these arches, but instead explained to Yunluo and Yan Chenyu the vegetation and wildlife in Arches National Park. He often stopped under a plant and told Yunluo and Yan Chenyu how they survived in this barren desert, including how to conserve water and how to bloom and bear fruit.

He often took out some pictures of wild animals from his backpack and told Yunluo and Yan Chenyu how the wild animals here survived and reproduced in spite of the poor resources. He spoke vividly and in detail. Every word he said exuded his love for this land.

Finally, he pointed to the arch in the distance and said earnestly: "Tourists come here for these arches, but in fact these plants and animals are also the treasures of the entire national park!" Yun Luo was also very touched when he heard this. After all, stones are dead, and those lives that struggle for survival are truly worthy of respect.

After visiting the Landscape Arch, the North and South Windows, and a series of small arches along the way, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu finally set out to visit the Delicate Arch. It takes more than an hour to reach this arch, and there is no obvious path in the second half of the road. You have to climb some rocks by yourself, which is not easy.

Fortunately, there were many people traveling together, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were not alone. At this time, the clouds in the sky were still very thick, and a few drops of rain fell from time to time. It was obvious that there was a thick dark cloud in the west, pouring heavy rain on the land below it. I really hope that the dark cloud will not come over Yunluo and Yan Chenyu's heads.

Originally, Yunluo wanted to go to Delicate Arch to take pictures of the legendary red spot, but it seems that the weather is not good, so there is no hope. However, since it is a landmark of Utah, no matter how difficult the road is, you have to go and see it. There is a small steep slope before reaching Delicate Arch. Most people bypass this small slope and go directly to the bottom of the slope. But Yunluo thinks that he will regret not climbing this small slope.

There is a small arch on the hill, from which you can see the Delicate Arch and the cliffs around it, which is quite spectacular. You can't see it from the bottom of the hill, but there are many photographers fiddling with their equipment at the top of the hill. Yunluo also took out his Canon and took dozens of photos of this beautiful scene.

Although the glory of the sunset was not captured, the thick dark clouds gave all the photos Yunluo took today a gloomy and domineering feeling, highlighting the withering of the trees and the magnificence of the arch. Yunluo was very satisfied.

Finally, when Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were about to leave the Exquisite Arch, a crack suddenly appeared in the western sky. The red afterglow was like a bloody wound cut by a knife in the sky, which was very spectacular. Yunluo also hurriedly captured this scene with his camera. Although his photography skills were limited, it was enough for Yunluo to remember this moment.

Looking back now, sometimes different weather conditions can produce more satisfying photos. The sunset scene that appears almost every day seems much cheaper in comparison.

The first national park tour was smooth. It started to rain heavily when we got back to the car. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were lucky not to get wet. Although Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were very tired after a day of sightseeing in the park, their mission for the day was not over yet.

Next, we have to drive for two hours in the dark towards Kanab. Kanab is where the lottery for The Wave Valley is held. I will talk about this small town and The Wave Valley in tomorrow’s travel notes.

There is a spectacular and magical rock in Utah. Because the texture of the rock is like the surging waves, it is named "Wave". The rocks in this wave rock valley are not hard rocks. Even a slight step may cause permanent damage to its surface.

It is said that once the thin layer of rock surface is crushed, it will take two to three hundred years of weathering to recover, which shows how fragile the Wave Valley is. It is for this reason that the department that manages this stone valley only releases 20 tickets to visitors every day, and 10 of them were sold online a few months ago.

The remaining ten tickets were left for the visitors who came that day to draw lots. Although this wave valley is very remote - it requires a six-hour hike in the desert without obvious paths, and the temperature under the scorching sun can be close to 40 degrees Celsius, and everyone needs to carry a heavy 1.5 gallons of drinking water (about five or six bottles of mineral water).

But every day many people come to the visitor center in Kanab to participate in the lottery, just to see this small piece of stone. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu drove towards Kanab after visiting Arches National Park yesterday. In order to catch the lottery at 9 o'clock in the morning, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu had to sacrifice some sleep time today despite being exhausted.

At night, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu settled in a small town called Richfield. It was already past midnight when they settled in. It took two and a half hours to drive from Richfield to Kanab, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu had to get up at 5:30 in the morning and continue their journey before 6 o'clock.

To be honest, Yunluo didn't feel very tired, but the longing for the lottery and the longing for Wave Valley kept Yunluo in a particularly excited state. Yunluo enjoyed the sunrise in Utah while driving and the small roadside villages that had just woken up in the morning, which was also a very enjoyable thing.

It was exactly 8:40 when we arrived in Kanab, and there were still 20 minutes before the lottery. In the visitor center beside Highway 89 in Kanab Town, there were already more than 60 people who came to participate in the lottery. With various languages and skin colors, Yunluo once again witnessed the charm of this geographical wonder.

Before the draw, the staff member who presided over the draw explained in detail the road conditions and weather conditions to Wave Valley, describing the journey to Wave Valley as terrifying and difficult. She also said that two elderly people died of exhaustion on the way there a few months ago, which made people more afraid of going to Wave Valley.

But no matter how scary the staff's words were, no one left the lottery hall. Everyone was remembering their numbers to pray for their success. The rules of the lottery were simple. Each team would fill out a form to get a number, and finally put all the numbers in the form of small balls into a rolling cage.

The number that falls off when the Xiaolong is turned is considered the winning number (very similar to a lottery). For example, if the number that falls off corresponds to a team of three, then there are suddenly three fewer places, leaving seven. So a draw with 60 people does not mean that there will be a 10/60 chance of winning.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

Yunluo remembered that there were about 25 teams that came to draw lots that day, and each team had more than one person, so the probability of winning was much lower. The draw began, and Yunluo stared at the balls nervously. The first number that fell out corresponded to a team of four. Everyone's heart suddenly sank, and there were only six places left.

Later, the numbers of two-person and three-person teams dropped out one after another, and Yunluo missed both. Yunluo arranged two days of lottery opportunities in his schedule, but failed on the first day, so he could only hope for tomorrow.

The lottery at nine o'clock was over, but the day's trip had just begun. Yunluo's plan for today was to go to the Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona.

It takes an hour's drive from Kanab along Highway 89 to cross the state border and reach Page. Before arriving in Page, you will see the magnificent Lake Powell - a huge reservoir built on the Gobi Desert, but it has also become the favorite water tourist resort for surrounding residents. On the road, you can see many people with yachts tied to their cars, ready to go for a good swim in it.

But Yunluo was not too interested in water sports, and Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were mainly studying geography, not coming here to play in the water, so they took a few photos and went straight to Horseshoe Bay.

The magnificence of Horseshoe Bend can only be experienced by seeing it with your own eyes. When you pass the town of Page on Highway 89 from north to south, you will see a sign for Horseshoe Bend. After parking along the sign, walk about half a mile and you will be close to this huge horseshoe-shaped canyon. (To be continued...)
