Yunluo and Yan Chenyu quickly slowed down to observe them, but they didn't have a telescope or a telephoto lens, so they couldn't see clearly and could only continue driving forward.
After driving over a small slope, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu saw a large plain in front of them. The plain was dotted with bison! It was conservatively estimated that there were thousands of bison. They lived in groups of three or five, and each group had one or two calves. It looked like a family activity.
Driving further ahead, we gradually saw many herds of cows very close to the road. Their appearance gradually blocked the traffic ahead. All the tourists rolled down their windows to watch them grazing and walking. After they saw that the cars were very polite to them, they also began to cross the road slowly, making it completely impossible for cars to pass.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu also had the opportunity to observe these bison up close. They had very large foreheads, two small pointed horns on their heads, and their eyes revealed a simple and clumsy look.
Some of them were dark brown, some were light brown, their hair was concentrated in the front half of their bodies, they moved slowly, and their expressions were dull. It was Yun Luo's first time to come into contact with large wild animals on a large scale, and he was both excited and a little scared. The closest of them was only one meter away from Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu's car. If they wanted to attack, they could easily smash Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu's car.
I heard that there have been incidents of bison attacking people before, but the probability is extremely low. As long as you don't deliberately provoke them, they should be fine. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu drove forward carefully, absolutely not competing with the bison for the road, and slowly drove out of the road where the bison were. Observing wild animals up close made Yunluo and Yan Chenyu very addicted, as if they had completed another sightseeing mission in Yellowstone.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were lucky today, as it didn't rain. The dark clouds in the sky kept wandering around Yunluo and Yan Chenyu, but they always passed by them.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu could clearly see that it was pouring rain under the dark clouds in the distance, but it was still sunny above their heads, and they felt like adding insult to injury. After finishing the tour today, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were going to check in at the campsite.
After two nights of camping in Grand Teton, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were familiar with the layout of the new campsite, and they quickly arranged a "bedroom". But Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were not in the mood for barbecue today, so they planned to go to the restaurant in the visitor center to see if there was anything delicious. So they put all the firewood in the stove and drove away.
This service center has many dining options. You can go to the supermarket to buy snacks, go to the food area to choose a variety of steaming hot meals, or go to the more upscale Western restaurant next door. The Western restaurant was overcrowded, and you had to wait in line for 30 minutes, and the price was not cheap, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu went directly to the food area.
There are all kinds of food in the food area. You can choose what you want to eat and then go to the front desk to pay. It is a bit like a big canteen in China. There are not only many Chinese tourists in this food area. Even the waiters who help you serve food are Chinese (I heard that they are international students who come here to travel and work during the summer vacation), which has turned the white people in the "canteen" into a minority.
But Yunluo thought the food here was pretty good, the price was reasonable, and he enjoyed the meal. After dinner, he returned to the camp and saw a tragic scene: just when Yunluo and Yan Chenyu left, there was a heavy rain in the camp, and all of Yunluo's firewood was soaked, so the plan for a campfire in the evening was ruined.
The night after the dark clouds retreated was still starry, but Yunluo had to admit that Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were a little aesthetically fatigued.
The temperature in Huangshi was still cold late at night, but Yunluo and Yan Chenyu seemed to have gotten used to it. They slept quite well. The heavy rain last night did not make the tent damp, which showed that the material of the tent was consistent with what was advertised.
There were no dark clouds in the sky of Yellowstone today. The fresh air made the woods around the camp look particularly refreshing and beautiful. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu packed up the tent, took a hot shower at the service center, had breakfast at the restaurant, and started their last day of Yellowstone tour.
We didn't go to Norris Geyser yesterday because there were too many people, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu planned to go there this morning. After arriving at the parking lot, they found that it was really popular. People had already started queuing up for parking spaces at 10 o'clock in the morning. The Norris Geyser area is actually a basin. There are many geysers of various shapes clustered in it.
Yunluo believes that the two biggest attractions of this geyser area are the density of the hot springs and the colorfulness of their colors.
Since these geysers grow and decline with the movement of the earth's crust, there is no accurate statistical number, but there is an introduction to an intermittent hot spring every few steps on the three-mile walking trail. If you want to see them all, one day may not be enough.
The colorful colors are another spectacular feature of the Norris Geyser area. Various bacteria and microorganisms show different colors at different temperatures and pH levels. It looks like someone accidentally spilled a lot of paint here. The
Behind the Porcelain Basin, there is a large area of geysers hidden in the woods. These geysers also have different shapes and are distributed around the two-mile long plank road. Yunluo believes that the Norris Geyser Area is another representative attraction in Yellowstone Park. Although the journey is not short, it is very interesting and "flavorful" after seeing it.
In fact, after seeing Norris, we have already seen all the main attractions in Yellowstone, and the only ones left are Yellowstone Canyon and Yellowstone Lake. After seeing so many canyons along the way, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu are not really interested in the canyons, but since they are here, they always have to "visit" them.
Yellowstone Lake is mainly a paradise for tourists who love water sports. Many people take yachts or canoes to swim on the lake, but it is not so attractive to Yunluo and Yan Chenyu. In addition, Yellowstone Lake is also a volcanic crater. Playing in the water in a volcanic crater sounds a bit creepy.
These two places are both in the southeastern part of Yellowstone Park, which is at the lower right side of the figure 8. It would take less than a few hours to walk around them, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu decided to go for a visit.
The main attraction of the Yellowstone Canyon is a waterfall. This waterfall rushes down from between two mountains. The huge amount of water and the steep valleys on both sides make it particularly magnificent.
What impressed Yunlu the most was not the waterfall itself, but the colors of the bare mountains on both sides and the flowing river. They looked so much like Chinese landscape paintings. It seemed that any picture in the camera viewfinder could be taken out and inscribed with a few words and a red seal.
Many tourists only appreciate the whole canyon from the parking lot at the top of the canyon. In fact, there is a small path that leads directly to the middle of the canyon, which is a better angle to see the waterfall. The canyon is steep, and the path in the canyon is even more winding.
After walking carefully for half an hour, we arrived at the viewing platform halfway up the mountain. From here, we could basically see the waterfall in the distance. The huge water curtain looked more pure and intimate on this viewing platform. There were only three or five tourists taking pictures on this platform. There was no noisy crowd, no horns from vehicles, only the sound of the waterfall decorating this beautiful space.
Huangshi Lake is 350 square kilometers in size. At first glance, it looks like a vast ocean, and the deepest part is over 100 meters. The entire lake is like a giant palm. The westernmost part of the lake, which is the southern end of Huangshi, is called the "West Thumb", which is where Yunluo and Yan Chenyu went to visit.
Like other places in Yellowstone, there are many hot springs scattered around the lake, and there are many plank roads to walk on. But Yunluo and Yan Chenyu had seen enough of these stinking hot springs. So they took a quick look, took a few photos, and left.
But Yunluo and Yan Chenyu did have some gains on the way from Yellowstone Canyon to Yellowstone Lake - there was a traffic jam on the road, and Yunluo thought that everyone must have seen wild animals, so he also prepared to stop and wait and see.
As the car moved slowly, Yunluo saw many people quietly taking photos in the woods on the hill by the road. They all looked sneaky, which further confirmed Yunluo's guess. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu quickly stopped the car and climbed up the hill. They saw two huge elks (Yunluo guessed they were elks) eating grass. They were eating very proudly even surrounded by cameras.
Yunluo also quickly took pictures of these rare animals with his camera, which was a big gain for today. Later, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu passed by a habitat of North American bison. But this time, he was not as excited as he was yesterday when he saw these stupid cows. Looking back, he saw a lot of wild animals this time, which was really a hundred times more interesting than watching them in the zoo.
Yesterday, I borrowed a high-powered telescope from the administrator on the roadside to see a giant bird's nest in the valley in the distance. There lived two domineering-looking birds in the nest. Later, I learned from the pictures that the bird was called an osprey (a kind of fish eagle). The fun of watching wild animals is that every time you see them, it is a surprise, and every time you get close to them, your heart beats.
I especially admire how much the United States values protecting nature. Some countries simply cannot allow humans and animals to live in such harmony.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
The three days and two nights in Yellowstone officially ended. After walking around the figure 8, Yunluo felt that it was still very rewarding. Seeing so many strange landforms and observing so many wild animals, the stunning degree of Yellowstone is truly worthy of its reputation. Like Zion National Park, Yellowstone is also a park suitable for all ages, and any tourist can find the Yellowstone they like.
This time, Yunluo visited some very popular scenic spots. If I have the chance to come to Yunluo again next time, I will try those less popular attractions. I heard that there will be many unexpected gains.
After finishing Yellowstone, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu also started to return to the east. On the way back, except for the man-made Mount Rushmore, there were no other attractions on Yunluo's itinerary.
A lot of thrilling things actually happened after they came out of the East Gate of Huangshi last night. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu planned to drive out of Huangshi until the sun sets and then find a hotel to stay.
However, there were almost no hotels on the road that Yunluo and Yan Chenyu could stay in without any worries. Either the hotels were shabby or the cities were as quiet and scary as ghost towns. They did not feel safe, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu did not dare to stay there. The level of development of small towns in the wilderness of the western United States was generally lower than that in the eastern United States, and it was not easy to find a safe and clean city.
I continued driving forward and accidentally drove into a huge forest park. From the Google map on my phone, I saw that this forest park was located in a mountainous area. Not only was it huge, but the roads were very winding and difficult to drive on. There were no hotels in it, and it would take three hours to drive in and out from the other side.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu had no choice, and it was getting dark, so Yunluo drove into the forest park. Before entering the forest park, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu almost hit a deer on the road. The deer suddenly jumped to the opposite lane of the highway from nowhere, and when it saw a car, it quickly dodged to the side.
Fortunately, the deer was still a little distance away from the car on the opposite side, otherwise if the car turned sharply, it would probably rush towards Yunluo. Yunluo clearly felt that the car on the opposite side was startled and swayed greatly. Fortunately, nothing happened and the cute deer escaped a life-or-death disaster.
The corpses of various animals can often be seen on American highways, but in the past few years of driving in the United States, this was the first time Yunluo encountered a living animal running in the middle of the road, and he was frightened and broke out in a cold sweat.
It was quite scary to walk through the forest at night. Yunluo opened his eyes wide to watch the road ahead. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu not only had to see the sharp bends clearly, but also had to pay attention to the uphill and downhill slopes, and guard against animals that might suddenly jump out, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were always on edge.
When the car drove to the deepest part of the forest, another deer almost died here with Yunluo - the same situation, a deer suddenly jumped out and blocked the way, but after seeing Yunluo's car lights approaching, it immediately jumped out again.
Yunluo also braked suddenly, but because he drove very carefully and slowly, he was able to successfully and smoothly avoid the big guy.
Using the car lights, he could vaguely see a large group of four-legged animals similar to deer eating grass in the surrounding grass. Yun Luo thought to himself that it was fortunate that they did not block the road collectively, otherwise Yun Luo might have been beaten up. (To be continued...)
