Chapter 925 There is a song called Fleeting Years

New York is a melting pot. On the sidewalks here you can finally see the crowds of people that one would expect in a big city, people of different skin colors, races, English with different accents, street performers in strange costumes, well-dressed business people, homosexuals, shemales, drug addicts and Harley Davidson gangs.

New York exemplifies what "existence is reasonable" means. Spending two hours in Times Square allows you to see almost all the unique villagers in the global village.

The location of the hotel is good and not as small as I imagined. I had a subway lunch and after a short rest, I went to Times Square and then Rockefeller Center. St. Patrick's Cathedral to the east of Rockefeller Center is magnificent. The exterior is under repair and there are a lot of scaffolding inside.

It was the weekend, and many people came to the church to worship. They sang hymns in unison, which was sacred and solemn, making people feel gentle and powerful from the bottom of their hearts.

Next, we walked south along Fifth Avenue to the Empire State Building, encountering various street styles along the way, including punk street roller skating parties, Mexican old men selling pets, and fashionable female devils in fancy clothes. We passed by the New York City Public Library, where "The Day After Tomorrow" was also filmed. The Empire State Building is a classic New York landmark.

The density of tourists here can catch up with that of the Forbidden City in Beijing. After a series of long queues, we arrived at the 80th floor. The crowd who really didn't want to wait for the elevator took the 6-story fire escape ladder to the 86th floor observation platform at the suggestion of the staff. This is a classic scene from the movies "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Beijing Meets Seattle".

The height here is enough to overlook the densely populated city of Manhattan with a 360-degree view, and you can see Liberty Island where the Statue of Liberty is located, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Central Park in the distance.

There were really a lot of tourists. It was quite a hassle to squeeze next to the railing, and because of the wire railing, the effect of taking "I've been here" photos was very poor. On the contrary, it was better to extend the camera over the railing to take a bird's-eye view of the city scenery. Mushroom mm and her family went back first after walking around, while Yunluo stayed for another two and a half hours.

The purpose was to stand at this commanding height to see the sunset and night view of New York from the best perspective. The photos taken were also worth the long wait. At that time, the sunset occupied a favorable terrain. The angle was very good, and Yunluo was concentrating on taking pictures of the New York city scenery from sunset to the lights coming on.

A girl from Taiwan approached Yunluo and she squeezed next to him. Since she always had a special liking for Taiwan, she chatted with her while taking photos. Then they met again at the bottom of the Empire State Building. She waited for her friends with her until 10 o'clock in the evening and then left their contact information to say goodbye.

Taiwan people mainly use Line, so the only way to contact is by email. There are always various connections with Taiwan friends. One of my friends in Beijing's Poetic Residence Cafe is from Taiwan. Last year, I met a couple from Taiwan in the Sinai Peninsula. They are going to Beijing in October.

On the day of arrival, Yunluo asked her friends in the cafe to entertain her. She would reunite with them after returning to Beijing. She was looking forward to it. This time, the girl also kindly invited Yunluo to go to Taiwan again and eat at the night market. It was said that there would be Taiwanese girls to accompany her for drinks. The scene was too beautiful to look forward to!

There were two Sichuan girls chatting up Yunluo on the roof of the Empire State Building, but they all asked Yunluo questions about photography techniques. One of them asked in English, and Yunluo couldn't clearly express aperture and shutter in English. "China" "Oh, that's it, the camera should be fixed and set to M mode."

It is much easier to communicate in Chinese. I walked back to my place at night. I got hungry and bought a hamburger. It tasted terrible. I basically didn’t eat Western food in the following days. Even if I did, it was McDonald’s chicken rolls to fill my stomach. Chinese food is still reliable. Even instant noodles are delicious.

Today's main itinerary is another New York landmark, which best represents the United States - the Statue of Liberty. We will still take the subway for lunch, and then walk for ten minutes to the subway station. Take Line 1 to the South Ferry Loop at the southernmost tip of Manhattan Island. Walk west from the park and you will find the ferry to Liberty Island next to the park.

Tickets are also purchased here, including the tours of Liberty Island and Ellis Island. There are also a lot of people, and each queue takes about 30 minutes. The first leg from the ferry to Liberty Island was quite hot, staring at the midday sun and queuing. Next to me, an artist played the harmonica, all of which were familiar melodies.

When Yunluo and Yan Chenyu were closest to him, he actually started to play "Jasmine Flower", which was very friendly! I heard from a traveler that I saw a Japanese street singer at Chiang Mai Night Market, singing songs in various languages. When he approached, the other party sang "Only Mom is Good in the World" in a slightly awkward Chinese accent, and he was immediately attracted by it.

The Statue of Liberty also includes an audio tour. After arriving on the island, you can walk around the foot of the statue and look up at the Statue of Liberty from different angles. I envy those who have reserved tickets to visit the pedestal and torch stand of the Statue of Liberty, who can walk into the interior of the Statue of Liberty (reservations must be made online in advance) and learn some unexpected facts while listening to the guided tour.

Many people think that the Statue of Liberty is solid, but it is not. Not only is it hollow, but the thickness of the bronze statue is only the thickness of a US 5-cent coin. The construction principle can refer to the cable-stayed bridge of the Golden Gate Bridge. In fact, it is just like the Golden Gate Bridge to the immigrants on the other side of the Pacific Ocean.

The Statue of Liberty was the first impression of European immigrants of that time when they bid farewell to the old world and came to the new world and entered the land of North America. It was as if seeing the Statue of Liberty ushered in a new life. The Ellis Island that we visited later focused on the history of American immigration. Remember to rent a voice guide and listen carefully to those stories.

It was already past 4 p.m. after the trip to the Statue of Liberty. Yunluo continued to act alone, preparing to embark on a long-planned trip to trace the filming locations of classic movies. Before leaving Pier Park, he saw some tourists feeding squirrels, so he found a wooden bench to sit down, just wanting to take some pictures.

Two American girls and a Russian boy very enthusiastically handed Yunluo a handful of peanuts so that Yunluo could also experience the joy of feeding squirrels. The pigeons next to them seemed rather depressed because everyone was trying to seduce the squirrels with peanuts and turning a blind eye to them. They stayed there for a while, and the cautious big-tailed guys slowly began to trust Yunluo.

Finally, it climbed directly onto Yunluo's legs and pecked at the peanuts. There was also a squirrel that directly took advantage of Yunluo and Yan Chenyu's eagle!

Heading north, the first stop is Trinity Church. Please refer to "National Treasure". I wonder if there are really rare treasures from the past five thousand years hidden under the church. The second stop is the World Trade Center site. The bases of the two buildings have now become black marble pools, and the water flowing from the four walls gathers at the bottom of the pool.

Then it flows into a smaller bottomless square well in the middle. On the marble wall at the edge of the pool are engraved the names of all the victims of 9/11, some of which are still inserted with flowers that have not yet withered.

Yunluo noticed that a middle-aged woman had been standing by the pool, gently stroking the names of her deceased relatives with her hands, with solemn sorrow~~~ There is also a memorial wall set up on a street in the southeast corner for the police and firefighters who died at the time. Every vivid face is presented in the photos. Now more than ten years have passed, I believe that even if a hundred years have passed. <, every life will not be easily forgotten. This is also the most basic dignity of life.

Next is the most famous "Friends" apartment. Looking at this photo, go and look at the most popular American TV series, Friends, it is exactly the same! Even the coffee shop on the corner has not changed! Going west from here is Washington Square, where the two agreed to break up in "When Harry Met Sally".

The view of the Empire State Building from the Arc de Triomphe is also a classic perspective. Going north along Fifth Avenue, the intersection with Broadway is the Washington Post Building, where Batman also works.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

When passing by Times Square, I was amazed by the night view. There were movie and cartoon characters everywhere, Batman, Spiderman, Super Mario, Tweety Bird, Mickey Mouse, and the lonely Captain Jack Sparrow. It looked very similar!

It was already past 9 o'clock when they finally visited the hotel. Since her godmother and grandmother were all asleep, Yunluo sat in the corridor editing photos online. When she left for the fire escape to smoke, the hotel security knocked on the door and seriously told her that it was not safe to leave her laptop or Mac on the floor in the corridor. She also asked Yunluo why she was going to the fire escape. Yunluo had to lie and said she wanted to go to the roof to see the night view.

If I smoke, the consequences will be serious. I will never smoke indoors again. American law prohibits smoking indoors.

In fact, I didn't have any special expectations for New York. Neither the Empire State Building nor the Statue of Liberty could arouse my sexual desire. However, the Metropolitan Museum of Art made me completely excited. Before reading the guide, I didn't even know that the Metropolitan Museum of Art was one of the three largest museums in the world (the other two are the British Museum and the Louvre Museum).

But after visiting New York, I found that it is really worth staying in New York for a month, including one day at the Empire State Building and Times Square, one day at the Statue of Liberty, one day to pay tribute to movie scenes, and the remaining 27 days to spend every day in the Metropolitan Museum of Art!

It allows you to see all the brilliant essence of human civilization on this planet for thousands of years without leaving home, and also inspires your desire to travel around and take a good look at this world. (To be continued...)
