California's reputation for bright sunshine is well-deserved, but the air is obviously not as good as that in Maryland and Washington in the eastern United States, so much so that Mushroom shouted as soon as he got off the plane that he wanted to go back to Maryland after working for a while, as the environment here is not good. Yunluo's first impression of San Francisco was the white sky and the inexplicable heat.
It wasn't until the last day before leaving the United States that I took a walk around San Francisco and realized that this is still my favorite city.
The road to Fisherman's Wharf was quite congested. I talked to Yunluo all the way about Dota. Yunluo said goodbye to Dota in January this year, but I was still eager to talk about it. We agreed to go to his apartment to play together after Yunluo returned to San Francisco after driving Route 66. We met up with Shangchao, Sabrina, and Ann at a cafe at Fisherman's Wharf.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu shared a car, and four other friends rented another car to travel with them. Eight people in two cars made the team look very large, but in fact they were close yet distant.
Regarding Fisherman's Wharf, Yunluo only wants to say that it is really similar to Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. The real flavor of San Francisco lies in its streets. This time, in order to meet up with his travel companions, Yunluo also came to Fisherman's Wharf for a visit and looked at the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island from afar.
There is a selfie guy who loves taking photos the most Yunluo has ever met. He loves taking photos more than all the girls Yunluo knows. It’s amazing.
The two girls in the other car were still in different places, so the driver had to pick them up first. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu agreed to meet at a landmark mall east of San Francisco, and then they set off for Mariposa, west of Yosemite National Park. When shopping at Walmart, Ann and Shang Chao had some friction and had a quarrel.
The fight got even worse at night. Yun Luo felt at first that Brother Shang Chao was a little too serious and difficult to get along with, but after spending a few days with him, he found that he was really a good partner who was kind and willing to make sacrifices. In fact, they were all good people, but sometimes they had different positions and conflicts occurred when their emotions arose.
Shangchao first booked the accommodation in Mariposa, which cost more than $50 per room. After everyone checked in, they found that they could actually book one room and share the accommodation, which would save a lot of money because the bed was big and two people could sleep in one bed. Ann hoped to check out and complained that he could actually find a cheaper one.
Shang Chao was very unhappy. After all, it was a thankless job. Yunluo and Sabrina tried to smooth things over, saying that everyone would stay in one room from tomorrow and share the accommodation. After all, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu didn't know that the girls were willing to share the accommodation, otherwise they would have booked one room from the beginning. There was also some trouble in staying in Yosemite tomorrow, which was a little unpleasant.
Yosemite is very close to San Francisco and Los Angeles, and is one of the most convenient national parks to reach. However, autumn is not a suitable season for all national parks, such as Yosemite. The official translation is actually Yosemite, and it is a friendly park with Huangshan in China. Yunluo is also a little proud.
However, due to the dry season and the severe drought in California this year, Yosemite National Park is seriously short of water, and its most representative scenery - waterfalls, has almost all dried up! Yosemite without waterfalls is like Huangshan without strange pines and rocks, which suddenly loses its charm. But since you are here, just make do with it.
Without Yosemite Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, we could only see El Capitan along the way, and then overlook Half Dome from afar at Sentinel Meadows. After settling in the tent house in Curry Village, our first stop was to Mirarlake, where we unloaded our heavy luggage, put on small bags, and brought snacks.
They walked through the woods with laughter and joy, as if on a spring outing. However, when Yunluo met a Western couple who were returning from that direction and asked for directions, they told Yunluo and Yan Chenyu that they were in the right direction, but Mirror Lake had completely dried up and there was nothing to see.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu made a prompt decision to return, thus avoiding a meaningless journey of several kilometers back and forth. Yosemite without water would be completely devoid of spirituality.
The next step was to take the shuttle bus to various viewing platforms. There were dry streams everywhere, and traces of waterfalls could be vaguely seen on the rock walls, but there wasn't even a trickle of water. It was indeed the wrong time to come, so we still recommend that you come here in spring and early summer. May and June are both good months.
Sentinel Meadow is the only place with nice views, and the lingering river water under the Sentinel Bridge provides some reflections.
Then we went to the tunnel observation deck, and took the first photo of this building. It seemed that everyone was about to fall down, so we started driving to the glacier observation deck before sunset.
In fact, this observation deck is right above Curry Village, on the top of a cliff about 700 meters high. However, if you drive, you need to go up from the mountain road on the south side. It takes about an hour from Curry Village. When you arrive at the Glacier Observation Deck, you will just catch the sunset before sunset, which will spread over the Yosemite Mountains.
A large group of tourists also gathered here quietly waiting for the sunset, including many Chinese tourists.
It was already dark when we returned to Curry Village. There was a big restaurant serving a variety of American dinners. Opposite there was a place where we could connect to Wi-Fi. However, Yunluo's Shang Chao and Sabrina stayed there all night and couldn't get on Wi-Fi because there were too many people. Yunluo put down his things in the tent.
Bring beer and a tripod and head out into the darkness, away from the resorts and away from any human light sources - go photograph the stars, the rewards are beyond imagination, because with the moonlight, the sky will be blue, the Milky Way will be discernible, and Half Dome and other rock faces will appear white.
The national park is still quite cold at night, and the tent is just a layer of plastic paper. The air conditioner stopped for no reason at night, and I woke up from the cold and turned it on again. When sleeping, try not to face your head towards the side close to the inner wall of the tent, it is really cold. Today, when I went out with beer and a tripod to take pictures of the stars, I ran into a deer head-on in the dark.
They were both startled. The deer was in the middle of the road, and the headlights of an oncoming car cast a perfect silhouette of the deer's antlers. It was very close, but Yunluo didn't free his hands in time to grab the camera, otherwise it would have been a perfect picture of light and shadow.
It was still quite cold in Yosemite Park in the early morning. The deer had already come out to play, and the elves flickered in the woods. In the morning, we left the valley bottom area of the national park and headed to the Wawona area. Our destination was the giant sequoia forest in Mariposa Valley. It was already 11 o'clock in the morning when we arrived, and we had to take a shuttle bus to tour the area.
It was quite troublesome. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu couldn't find a parking space. On the other hand, they had a long way to go to Monterey on Highway 1, so they discussed and gave up. Yunluo didn't regret it. He thought that his brothers and sisters were in San Francisco anyway, so he could come to Yosemite with his family in the spring when the water was abundant.
According to the navigation, Sabrina and Brother Shangchao took turns driving. We had lunch at Burger King at noon and used the wifi to update our Moments with the photos of the Yosemite starry sky yesterday. After leaving the national park, we entered sunny California. It was still sunny and hot during the day, and we finally arrived at the town of Monterey around dusk.
Before entering the 17-mile coastline scenic area, I was already attracted by the sunny and sandy coastal highway here. I walked along the coastline and came to the 17-mile park located southwest of the town of Monterey.
There are roads that seem to extend into the sea, smooth lawns and trees that seem to have been washed and trimmed, which is very strange. There are beaches with fine and soft sand, as well as rugged cliffs on the seaside. There are also various seabirds including seagulls on the cape, flying in the afterglow of the sunset. The picture is really beautiful.
It was already dark before they arrived at the original stone beach, but Yunluo and Yan Chenyu chose a spot with a better view to watch the sunset. I forgot the name, but I only remember that there was a large reef standing in the sea beyond the coastline, and on the rock stood a pine tree that seemed to have swayed in the wind and rain for a thousand years.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
Meeting up with friends from another car near Pebble Beach, they did not go to 17 Mile, but instead wandered around the town of Carmel. It is said to be a wealthy area with many beautiful garden villas, and it is also a paradise for artists. Yunluo did not regret not going to Carmel. For Yunluo, watching the sunrise and sunset is the real thing.
At night, we booked a room online. This time, four people were squeezed into one room. The rooms were divided by car. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu got along better and were more familiar with each other. Sabrina and Ann slept in one bed, while Shang Chao generously chose to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag, leaving Yunluo alone on the big bed.
Originally it was said that Yunluo would sleep on the floor tomorrow, but Brother Shangchao insisted on giving his bed to Yunluo for the next two days in Los Angeles. He was really kind.
There is always a picture in my mind: driving a convertible sports car with a few buddies or a girl, speeding along the coastal highway, turning up the car stereo to the maximum, shouting at the white waves, with seagulls flying along the way, from early morning to dawn.
California Highway 1 more or less meets this ideal. Although there are no convertible sports cars, you can barely open the car window to feel the sea breeze. Although it is not the beloved girl or a few close friends, they are also companions for the journey. There are no seagulls, but a large group of seals were seen on the beach less than 20 meters away from the road.
The music in the car was the classic "Until the End of the World" from Slam Dunk, so wild.
Today we have to drive directly from Monterey to Los Angeles. The task is quite arduous, so we got up early and set off at around 8 o'clock. After leaving Monterey, we saw a brown road sign marking a small national park by the sea whose name Yunluo forgot. There is no entrance fee, so we turned in to take a look. There is a small bay here.
