The Rhine is the third largest river in Europe after the Volga and the Danube. In Cologne, the Rhine is wider and flows more smoothly. The nearly 200-kilometer section from Cologne to Mainz is the most beautiful section of the Rhine, where the river is winding and the water is clear.
Along the river, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu found a red house. This red house is a century-old restaurant in Cologne where Yunluo and Yan Chenyu dined. The most famous dish is roasted pork elbow. This restaurant was not bombed during World War II and was preserved intact. It is said that Napoleon also visited this restaurant and ate pork elbow, which shows how famous the pork elbow here is.
The tables and chairs in this century-old restaurant are very old and have a sense of age. The staff are all dressed in traditional costumes. They smile and recommend their pork elbow meal to Yunluo and Yan Chenyu, reminding them that a pork elbow meal is for about two people to share.
Soon, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu's dishes arrived, and they were indeed quite filling. The roasted pork elbow was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and there was also a piece of tenderloin and a grilled sausage. The side dishes were fried potato cubes, mixed shredded carrots and shredded pickled cabbage. The taste was indeed good. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu quickly devoured the food on the plate, and paired it with local beer, and ate it with relish.
During the leisure time after lunch, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu walked by the river, watching the children in the kindergarten sitting on the lawn singing nursery rhymes. They didn't want to give themselves too many tasks, so they just wandered around~
Another place to go is the old shop where the Germans believe that cologne originated. The real cologne perfume is sold here.
Back at the train station, Yunluo and his companions looked up at the church again and sighed: Every famous building has its own soul. The soul of Cologne Cathedral is its spirit. Yunluo's camera cannot take away its soul. If you have a chance, please go and see this masterpiece of mankind in person. It is an indescribable world-shaking thing.
This happy journey is not just about the step you take, but the anticipation during the entire preparation process and the joy of the entire trip.
Yunluo's second trip to Germany. After visiting these cities, I got a deeper understanding of German history and culture, and was more fascinated by Europe. This led to my subsequent trips to Eastern Europe and France.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu planned to go to Cologne to see the cathedral they had longed for and get familiar with the traffic rules of the European continent. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu originally wanted to rent a Mercedes-Benz, but when they picked up the car, they changed to a BMW of the same level because it was out of stock. The navigation was very helpful, and even the parking route in the supermarket could be searched. It really helped a lot.
Maodou is quite familiar with Germany because of his work. He saw Aldi supermarket and went in to buy snacks for Yunluo and Yan Chenyu. In fact, they have to go to the supermarket to buy milk, bread, ham, salad, fruit, noodles, seafood and meat that they cook sometimes.
During most of the driving time, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu consumed a lot of food in the car, mostly fruit salads and homemade sandwiches.
Below are raspberries and blueberries. Apples are super cheap in Europe. Many houses have their own apple trees and don't care about the fallen apples. They prefer to eat fruits like blueberries.
The scenery on the road is very exquisite. On the way to Cologne, we set the navigation to deliberately avoid the highway, and then we can pass through several German towns and see their various houses. Beibei was full of emotion and joked along the way that he wanted to buy a house here. The half-red and half-green ivy wall. Children swinging on the swing in their own yard.
The sunlight shining through the gaps in the red leaves, the locals climbing the stairs to repair the walls themselves, the nature and human life are perfectly integrated.
Traffic jams are a global problem. They move slowly, but since then I have rarely encountered them in other places.
One of the great advantages of self-driving is that if you can park your car, you can stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is no one else around, and it is like a green space like a Windows desktop. The vegetation here is a large grassland, with a few forests and small towns interspersed in between, which is very harmonious and interesting.
Driving into the city of Cologne, there is never enough time. I want to go to the second-hand market... Maybe next time. The urban landscape is much more modern and richer than that of a small town, with residences, shopping malls, bridges, and restaurants. <), is a Catholic cathedral and a landmark building in Cologne. It is known as the most perfect example of Gothic church architecture. It was built in 1248, and the project was intermittent until 1880 when it was declared completed by German Emperor William I. It took more than 600 years, and the renovation project is still going on.
The interior space is high and wide, with towers pointing straight to the sky, symbolizing the desire of people to communicate with God. In addition to the two towers, there are many small spires outside the church. The walls of the church are decorated with stained glass depicting biblical characters. There are 5 bells on the church bell tower, the largest of which weighs 24 tons. When the bells ring together, they sound loud and deep.
You can hear the bells ringing on the hour. Although there are many tourists, the ringing of the bells still makes the city of Cologne seem sacred and solemn.
Unfortunately, due to the traffic jam, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu arrived in Cologne later than expected, and it was already dusk. Yan Chenyu did not have enough time to appreciate this mysterious and majestic cathedral. She could only walk around it as if she was just taking a quick look and stayed in the church for a few minutes.
We also saw a cardinal leading a long group of white-robed clergymen. I wonder if there was any activity that night.
Behind the church, there is a recommended pork knuckle shop, owned by a Chinese. The super large pork knuckle is Yunluo and Yan Chenyu's dinner today. We just arrived in Germany and the jet lag is still very serious. We were all tired after driving all day. Seeing such a huge meat and beer, we were in a state of joy. Cherry was still not satisfied with the meal and packed it for breakfast the next day.
The next day was a bit crazy. Maodou first took Yunluo and Yan Chenyu to the red light district for a tour. It was very high.
Unfortunately, in broad daylight, there were hardly any people in the red light district. The two boys went upstairs to stroll around, while Yan Chenyu and Bei Bei took photos of the street despite all the looks. There is a particularly good Mexican chicken burrito here, which is highly recommended to friends who come here.
Various graffiti can be seen on the streets of Frankfurt.
The second day's itinerary was originally to go to Munich to attend the Oktoberfest, but the road Yunluo and Yan Chenyu took was exactly the Romantic Road promoted by German tourism (the following guide will describe this recommended road in detail).
The two places they visited made Yunluo and Yan Chenyu linger and even affected their time in Munich. There are many changes and possibilities, just go with the flow.
The picturesque ancient city of Wurzburg is located on the banks of the Main River. From a distance, it looks like a city in the sky. Marienburg, enclosed by medieval city walls, was the residence of the archbishop from 1253 to 1720. When Yunluo and Yan Chenyu arrived, there were only 20 or 30 people in the whole city. It was so quiet that even talking loudly would destroy its tranquility.
Many tourists use bicycles to tour the town. The most popular part of the journey is the Romantic Road in Germany. It is the area with the most complete preservation of medieval ancient city style among all German cities and is known as the "Treasure of the Middle Ages". Rothenburg means "Red Castle" in German, and most of the roofs of the houses in the city are dark red.
This ancient city is perfect for a romantic stroll with your lover. Before writing the guide, Yan Chenyu posted some pictures of Rothenburg on Weibo, which were forwarded more than 180 times by netizens, showing the popularity of Rothenburg. Any church, gallery, fountain, or statue has a history of at least 700 to 800 years.
One arched city gate after another, a city wall full of legends and ancient traces, 36 towers of various sizes, a church that a car can pass through, old and distinctive shop signs, and half-timbered houses with colorful exteriors and chocolate-colored patterns - it's so cute!
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
The ancient city of Rothenburg was built in the 9th century. During the reign of the Holy Roman Empire, Rothenburg was a free city of the empire and its business activities were very prosperous. This small city has experienced many wars in its long history, but fortunately many ancient buildings are still intact.
Maodou said that this is rare in the whole country of Germany, which makes today's Rothenburg still full of the romance of the European Middle Ages.
I really liked the white horse carriage, and later I experienced it when I went to Neuschwanstein Castle.
The flower-decorated windows, the ancient houses and the vibrant flowers are like a real presentation of a movie scene.
This place looks like a private residence. Yan Chenyu and Mao Dou were attracted by the plants on the wall and walked in to take pictures. There is also a tombstone with a human statue in the yard. I don't know whose old residence it is.
Behind the house, there is still dense vegetation.
At the end of the old town, there is a viewing point where you can see the whole view of Rothenburg, just like the beautiful picture in the window, green ground and red roof. This is the fairy tale world I read before.
Large expanses of grass and old trees are a luxury in China. We saw foreign tourist groups, many people but not noisy. Maodou said that if it was a tourist spot in China at this time, the tour guide would definitely not let go of the big trees, and would tell everyone to walk around them once and have hundreds of children and grandchildren, walk around them twice and get promoted and get rich, walk around them three times and live a long life, and then the bark of the trees would be worn off by tourists.
Beibei and Yingtao went their separate ways from Yunluo and Yanchenyu. They had afternoon tea in a beautiful cafe, which was also a luxurious enjoyment. In addition, the two cakes were really delicious!
This is a shop selling teddy bears. The couple at the door is so vivid. Even though they are old and their legs and feet are not very agile, they still pay attention to their clothes and image. They are learning and making progress! (To be continued...)
