In fact, since today's journey, we have seen various animals hit and killed on the roadside from time to time. Most of them are wallabies, wombats, hares, crows, etc. Among them, most of the crows were hit while eating animal carcasses on the roadside. This is the death of birds for food. ↖,
Even so, it is still difficult to encounter wild animals while driving during the day, because animals like wallabies and wombats are not active during the day, so try to avoid driving in the early morning or at night on Tasmania Island.
Not far away, An Qingju and Yun Luo came to one of the attractions of this trip - Tarraleah Hydropower Station. The construction of this hydropower station began around 1930 and began operation in 1938, using the water resources of the Derwent River and Lake St. Clair to generate electricity to meet people's growing demand for energy.
There are no famous attractions on the road behind, but there are signs from time to time telling you where to see the scenery nearby. An Qingju and Yunluo did not stop, fully enjoying the feeling of being on the road. When encountering dangerous roads in the mountains, there will most likely be signs suggesting speed limits, so don't show off your driving skills here.
After going through countless bends and ups and downs, Yunluo's attention was drawn to the sign on the roadside: Nelson Falls. This waterfall is about 35 meters high and can be reached by walking 700 meters. The air in this place is extremely moist and fresh, surpassing any other place on this trip. It is an excellent walking and sightseeing route. In such an environment, ld also excitedly practiced jogging.
At about 6pm, An Qingju and Yunluo arrived at Queenston. Here is a reminder that before Queenston, there is one last mountain to cross, and the mountain road here is steeper than the previous ones. Not only are there many bends and steep slopes, but the car is driving along the outer cliff. What I caught a glimpse of was the deep valley. The large exposed rocks were the consequences of the mining industry in the past, and the thin guardrails made people feel a little uneasy. Therefore, please concentrate and drive safely here.
Queenstown is located in the west of Tasmania, with a population of about 2,400. Mining is still the main industry of this town. However, due to the huge damage caused by mining to the environment, the government has begun to restrict mining and gradually develop tourism economy.
Arriving in the town, they quickly found the Imperial Hotel: this hotel has been in business since 1901 and is also a historical building. Arriving in the hotel, the chef enthusiastically told An Qingjue and Yunluo that they had to go to the bar after 6 o'clock to find someone, and the bar staff would take over. After finding mm, she waited for a long time before she finished her work. She flipped through the reservation form on the table for a long time, and finally said, "There may be a small problem. I can only give you a suite and a standard room without a bathroom." This is not possible. An Qingjue and Yunluo booked two suites just for the convenience of having a bathroom. After negotiating with mm, it seemed that she was powerless. mm said that if it didn't work, you should look at other hotels first. Yunluo can refund the full amount. So An Qingjue and Yunluo drove around the town again. There was a hotel on the hillside on another street that was not bad. It was big and new, and the old people were also very nice, so they wanted to take a look at the room of the Empire before refunding the money. The door of this room looked really bad, and it was okay inside, but the things were a bit old. There were four beds in the room. They immediately decided: no need to change, four people will stay in one room and cancel the remaining room. So they went downstairs, but the girl from before was gone, so they explained the whole story to the other girl. They asked to cancel one room. Four people can stay in the other room, but at no extra charge (you have to know that the price reserved by An Qingjue and Yunluo is for double occupancy, and it costs 15 dollars to add one more person). The girl is worthy of being a child of the West, she said "no problem" very happily. So, this hotel got the top spot on the list of hotels on this trip, the cheapest hotel, 75 dollars for 4 people. (This place is probably because of the rich iron ore, and all the water is rusty)
After settling in, we bought some things in the supermarket. During the trip, we met a large family from Suzhou who were traveling around the PRC in an RV. This was also the first group of Chinese tourists that An Qingju and Yunluo met after arriving in Australia. We greeted each other. We had dinner at the hotel. I didn't expect that there were so many people in the restaurant. The people at the bar seemed to be locals who came here to have a drink. When we sat down in the restaurant, the waiter was very busy. The uncle at the table next to us handed over the menu in a friendly manner. This was just the beginning of the enthusiasm of the people in the west.
The waitress here is enthusiastic and diligent. She is the only one taking care of the whole restaurant without any impatience. I glanced at the plate casually, but she immediately changed it. In fact, there was nothing on it. When ordering at the bar, the eldest sister was very enthusiastic and patiently answered An Qingjue and Yunluo's questions. An Qingjue and Yunluo ordered a pack of local beer and asked her if she could give An Qingjue and Yunluo 3 more empty cups. Unexpectedly, after a while, she actually divided the beer for An Qingjue and Yunluo and brought it directly to the table. Looking at these glasses of beer, Yunluo even wondered if she gave An Qingjue and Yunluo too much, haha!
Today, the wait time for the dishes was quite long. An Qingjue and Yunluo were the last to be served, but they did not feel impatient at all. After a while, the chef came out and said with a smile, "Don't worry, your dishes will be served next." Sure enough, An Qingjue and Yunluo's dishes came one after another. The steak here is delicious, and the pasta is also good, both are worth recommending. While An Qingjue and Yunluo were eating, the young waitress began to set the tableware for tomorrow, still full of work enthusiasm, which was admirable. A simple meal allowed An Qingjue and Yunluo to see the warm and simple folk customs here, which they will never forget for a long time.
I was woken up by the train whistle in the morning. I opened the window and saw that An Qingju and Yun Luo's hotel was right next to the station of the famous West Coast Wilderness Railway. But it was only around 8 o'clock, and it was not time for the train to leave. I wondered if the people in the town took it to go to work?
The West Coast Wilderness Railway is the most famous and most expensive tourist attraction in Queenston. To borrow a paragraph from Madrista, a traveler on the west coast, "It started operating in 1896, connecting Queenstown and the seaside town of Strahan on the west coast. The railway was originally built to transport ore mined in Queenstown to the seaside and then shipped to various places. For various reasons, the railway stopped operating in 1963 and has only been used as a tourist train in recent years. It has regained its former glory."
After packing, I walked to the train station. A friend once strongly recommended this route in a post, but my schedule was tight, so I took two photos as a souvenir.
Today's journey was about 260 kilometers. We left the town of Queenston in the light rain. We followed the A10 road and turned onto the B28 road. The sky began to clear up. The road sign pointed to a lake, Lake Plimsoll, where we stopped to rest.
There were several similar alpine lakes on the road later. An Qingju and Yunluo did not stop. One hour later, they drove back to the A10 highway and arrived at the first town of the day, Tullah. This town is located by Lake Rosebery, quiet and beautiful. After refueling here, we continued on our way. <. You have to climb a small hill, where you can see the tour group.
At 11 o'clock, An Qingju and Yunluo finally arrived at the highlight of the day - the entrance of Cradle Mountain National Park. Let me borrow another paragraph from Madrista, a poor traveler: "In 1827, British explorer Joesph Fossey discovered such a beautiful mountain in the central and western part of Tasmania. It has a unique shape, like an English cradle, so he named it Cradle Mountain. Now, the national park composed of Cradle Mountain and Lake St. Clair covers an area of nearly 1,262 square kilometers. The national park preserves priceless ecology, so it has been listed as a World Natural Heritage by UNESCO. This national park is a huge ecological treasure house. The park is full of spectacular The mountains and waterfalls, sharp cliffs, deep lakes, pristine wetlands, and almost unspoiled wildlife habitats are all here. It is not an exaggeration to say that Cradle Mountain National Park is the heart of Tasmania, as it is the most famous scenic spot in Tasmania and an absolute landmark. It can be said that if you have not been to Cradle Mountain, then your trip to Tasmania is absolutely incomplete, just like if you go to Sydney and don’t appreciate the Opera House. ”
After a simple comparison, An Qingjue and Yunluo bought the Tasmanian National Park Pass: it is based on the car, covers up to 8 people, is valid for 2 months, and can be used to visit more than a dozen national parks. Although such a ticket is far more than what An Qingjue and Yunluo need, there is no better choice. It costs 60 dollars for 4 people, which saves more than a dozen dollars compared to buying tickets separately. After purchasing such a ticket, you can drive into the park. It happened that there were more cars today, and the park would not allow other vehicles to enter the mountain for the time being, so we chose to take the park's minibus to start the tour. The minibus has a total of 10 stops, 5 stops for going and coming. An Qingjue and Yunluo decided to take a bus to the farthest Lake Dovelake to start the tour.
Lake Dove is located near the main peak of Cradle Mountain. Hiking around the lake is a very popular route, which allows you to appreciate the beauty of Cradle Mountain from different angles. However, it takes at least two hours to go around the lake. An Qingju and Yunluo started their tour along the path on the left, based on the principle of comfort first. After walking about 14 laps, An Qingju and Yunluo took out their picnic mats on a pebble beach near the water. However, today's lunch is really simple, with only bread and two tomatoes left over from breakfast, because An Qingju and Yunluo did not find a restaurant here. After lunch, they took a nap on the picnic mat, with white clouds floating in the sky from time to time, which was a complete relaxation of body and mind.
After resting enough, An Qingju and Yunluo stopped walking and returned to the station along the original route, took the bus to the next stop to continue hiking. This section of the hiking route passed through meadows, forests and rivers along the wooden plank road, and some special discoveries stimulated An Qingju and Yunluo's interest and imagination. There were countless animal feces on the grass on both sides, and it could be seen that more than one animal was there.
Soon, a lot of animal feces appeared on the plank road, which made An Qingju and Yunluo open their eyes and "scan" around. Wishes are beautiful, but reality is cruel. Most of the animals here are active at night, and the probability of seeing them during the day is very small. But if you close your eyes and imagine that this place has become a paradise for animals at night, it is still very exciting. If you really want to appreciate the rich wildlife resources here, you might as well stay in the park for a night. Not only can you participate in the park's "Tasmanian Devil" discovery tour, but there may be surprises waiting for you when you open the door of the wooden house.
This section of the hike ended at Snakehill, and we took a minibus back to the starting point. At about 3 o'clock, An Qingju and Yunluo started to head towards Ulverstone. They arrived near the northern coast along the two towns of H. The scenery along the way changed between wasteland, woods, and pastures. Soon after turning onto Basshwy, An Qingju and Yunluo arrived at the town of Ulverstone.
The town is not big, and An Qingjue and Yunluo easily found their residence for today. They found it on le, while mainstream tourists would stay in the nearby Penguin Town. Whether this choice was correct or not, the mystery will finally be revealed today.
The car was driven into the courtyard. The gravel road was a little narrow, so we parked at the fountain at the door. Tony, the male host, was busy in the courtyard at this time. When he saw An Qingjue and Yunluo, he came up to greet them enthusiastically. After learning that An Qingjue and Yunluo were the guests tonight, he called the hostess to greet them. The general meaning was: "Old lady, guests are coming!"
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
This house was built in 1880 as a gentleman's residence. Later, it was renovated and opened to guests as a B&B. Compared with the previous B&B, this one has a stronger British style and traces of time. The red brick fireplace, old photos of the house, wooden walls, copper-plated switches, and various old objects will make you feel infected by this atmosphere. The joy on everyone's face says it all, and the hanging heart finally settled down. (To be continued...)
