Section 1013: Spend Three Minutes

Travel destination: From Darwin, via Adelaide and Adelaide, to Kakadu National Park and Ubirr Rocks

This day tour is for those who want to see the best of Kakadu within a limited time frame and is designed to allow ample time to enjoy the attractions visited.

From downtown Darwin, turn onto the Stuart Highway (Hway) and enter Kakadu Park through the region's major river systems and wetland areas.

Kakadu Park is located about 257 kilometers from Darwin and covers an area of approximately 20,000 square kilometers. The terrain in this area ranges from rock cliffs that have been the homes of Aboriginal people for thousands of years to flood plains with rich and diverse biological survival periods, across the Southern Alligator River.

To explore the beautiful Kakadu Wetlands, after enjoying a sumptuous buffet lunch, Yunluo and An Qingju will set out to explore the famous World Cultural Heritage Site – Ubirr Rock Paintings (Ubirrrock), where Yunluo and An Qingju will follow a knowledgeable guide.

Climb through the ancient Aboriginal rock painting gallery and listen to the guide's informative and interesting explanations. Go to the observation deck on top of the Ubirr Rock to see the world-famous Kakadu Wetlands. Then Yunluo and An Qingju will leave Kakadu National Park and return to Darwin. Rest at the rest area on the highway, and then send everyone back to the hotel. All tours end around 8pm.

Kakadu National Park is located 257 kilometers east of Darwin, on the Alligator River (English: Alligator Rivers, meaning Alligator River, including the narrow West Alligator Rivers (Western Alligator River), the fairy-like beauty but also the large crocodile-infested Southalligator Rivers (South Alligator River).

The Yellow Water Cruise is located in the East Alligator River, covering an area of about 19,804 square kilometers, about 200 kilometers from north to south and about 100 kilometers from east to west. It is about the size of Israel, one-third of Tasmania or half of Switzerland.

It is the largest national park in Australia and the first World Heritage Site in Australia. It is currently a World Cultural and Natural Heritage recognized by UNESCO. It contains extremely rich original flora and fauna and historical relics of the Australian Aborigines with a history of 50,000 years.

Therefore, like Uluru-Katatjuta National Park, it is one of the few national parks in the world that is listed as very precious with both natural and cultural values.

"Kakadu" comes from the Aboriginal language "gagadju", which means a place name. Most of the Kakadu area is inhabited by Kakadu tribes.

Later, it was designated as national land by the white Australian government. After long-term protests and resistance, the local Aboriginal people finally forced the government to return the Kakadu area to them. It is currently open to the public on lease from the National Parks and Forestry Bureau as a famous tourist attraction in Australia.

It is not only famous for its wild animals and plants, but also for the remains of Aboriginal stone paintings dating back tens of thousands of years, as well as unique scenery such as rugged cliffs, spectacular canyons, surging waterfalls, and wonderful wetlands. Kakadu is located in the tropical region of northern Australia and is open from November to April of the following year.

Heavy rains fell in northern Australia, and the floods flattened the entire plain. In the vast water world, some of the floods meandered into the Timor Sea, which is part of the Indian Ocean, leaving the rest of the floods to slowly evaporate over the remaining days. It was not until the dry season that the high land would gradually appear.

Then the lowland water slowly recedes. That's when it's time to see crocodiles. It's a wonderful time to see crocodiles, birds, insects and various rock paintings in Kakadu National Park.

The abundant rainfall, hot and humid weather have formed a large number of swamps, which are home to a wide variety of rare birds. In addition, the waterfalls and tropical rainforests in the primeval forests make Kakadu not only full of vitality, but also retains the remains of ancient times.

The isolated pristine natural ecological environment here has never been destroyed by human activities. Currently, there are still more than 50 rare mammals, 290 birds, 130 reptiles, 79 freshwater fish and tens of thousands of insects.

Perhaps it is such abundant ecological resources that have given the local aboriginals a wealth of artistic inspiration, and they left behind a large number of rock paintings, various stone crafts and relics used for sacrifice. Kakadu is the last holy place where nature and humanity coexist harmoniously in Australia.

Geographic location: Located in the north of Australia, 256 kilometers from Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, and a 3.5-hour drive. Tour content: Watch tropical rainforest flora and fauna, appreciate aboriginal rock art, mountain climbing, etc.

The park's management center and main accommodation are located at ers (Darwin World Travellers Hostel). A minibus had just stopped in front of the door, and Yunluo went to ask with the travel confirmation letter.

It was the car that came to pick up Yunluo and An Qingju for a trip. After picking up other guests at the entrances of several other hotels and apartments, the car drove onto the road to Kakadu Park.

At about 8:20, Yunluo and An Qingju arrived at the rest point on the way: the bark cabin accommodation rest point (thebarkhutinn), which is a large rest and accommodation area on the highway. After walking a short distance from here, you can enter the outskirts of Kakadu National Park:

At 11:25, Yunluo and An Qingjue arrived at the boarding point of the famous Yellow Water Cruise. This was the entrance. Yunluo and An Qingjue had to walk on an elevated pier to enter the boarding point. The sign next to them told Yunluo and An Qingjue not to go to the water's edge.

Do not leave food here, especially fish. Yunluo and An Qingjue did not understand these warnings at this time. They thought that the crocodiles were still far away from them. But later, after seeing the huge crocodiles appearing in the water and on the shore on the boat, they realized how dangerous it would be if they did not take this plank road but entered the grass next to the plank road!

Yunluo and An Qingjue's tour guide said goodbye to Yunluo and An Qingjue on the shore. There was a local tour guide - a lady - on Yunluo and An Qingjue's boat, so she could take a rest.

The tour guide was very dedicated. He drove all the way while explaining and introducing the tour with a very rhythmic voice. He could be said to be a model of never-stopping driving and talking. It could be said that he was very tired, but Yunluo and An Qingjue both felt a little drowsy while listening to him.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

The cruise ship set off. Yunluo and An Qingjue both felt as if they had entered a fairy tale world. The clear river water was changing with various colors - azure, deep blue, lake blue. The reflections of floating clouds, water birds and green trees were printed on the water. The breeze was blowing, the waves were sparkling, and the birds were freely surging or soaring in the water and sky. It was so beautiful!

This is the interior of the Yellow Water Cruise that Yunluo and An Qingju are riding on. The female driver sitting under the Yellow Water Cruise logo is also Yunluo and An Qingju’s tour guide. She always stops at places that Yunluo and An Qingju are interested in, and only starts the boat after Yunluo and An Qingju have finished taking photos. She is very considerate:

At around 1:00, the one and a half hour yellow water cruise on the Southern Alligator Rivers (transliterated as "Anlighat River") ended.

After getting off the boat, the tour guide picked up Yunluo and An Qingjue at the dock, and then Yunluo and An Qingjue rushed to a restaurant not far away to have their lunch – a very sumptuous buffet:

Yunluo and An Qingju moved the plates to the outdoor table. The flag behind them was the flag of the Aboriginals. The tour guide told Yunluo and An Qingju that in the Australian summer, these stools and even the tables would be submerged by floods, so this restaurant is only open in winter:

After finishing the meal, Yunluo and An Qingju set out to the Ubirr Rock to admire the rock paintings left by the original tribes of the Australian aboriginals. They listened to the guide's introduction to the origins and stories of each rock painting, and then climbed the spectacular Ubirr Rock to enjoy the pure beauty of the surrounding wetlands and blue sky.
