Section 1275 Green Leaves

Yunluo and An Chuyu left the 29-inch box at the hotel and waited for Pai to come back to pick it up. Although the hotel staff would help you move the box along the way, and you almost didn't have to do anything yourself, it was quite troublesome to carry a big thing along the way, so they just left it at the hotel. Later, when they came back from Pai, Yunluo called the hotel staff to bring the big box out of the hotel.

Then I picked up Yunluo and Anchuyu at the station and sent them to the VC Suan Paak Hotel near the airport. The whole journey was seamless. The station is at position a in the picture below, which is quite far from the old city. The small box in the middle is the old city wall, you can click to see the big picture. The full name of the station: Chiang Mai Provincial Arcade Transport Station. Here is a partial detail picture. Someone may ask.

Don't all the guides say to take the bus from Aya? Indeed, many people take Aya's bus, but Yunluo and An Chuyu were lazy and asked the hotel to help them book the tickets. The hotel had contact with this hotel, so they booked this one. Anyway, the price was 150b/person. When they arrived in Pai, Aya Station was very close to Yunluo and An Chuyu's bus station (because Pai County is very small).

So it didn't matter which bus Yunluo and An Chuyu took. Seat no. was written on the ticket. In fact, as long as you take motion sickness medicine, there shouldn't be a big problem. If you still have psychological trauma, you can discuss with the driver and other passengers to change seats. At 11am, 30 minutes before the bus leaves, each of us swallowed a small blue pill.

It is recommended that people who weigh less than 50kg and are not prone to motion sickness only take half a pill. (The specific reason will be detailed later) This car will take you through the winding mountain roads. The driver will come about 15 minutes before departure, and you can throw your luggage on the car. If it is a large luggage such as a mountaineering bag, the driver will help you tie the luggage to the roof of the car.

Yunluo and An Chuyu at the ticket window were both taking motion sickness pills for the first time. At first, they were not sure if it would work. Many friends who had come back from Pai described the journey as extremely horrible, so Yunluo and An Chuyu were very nervous before getting on the bus. Fortunately, after getting on the bus, it was fine. The first section of the road from Chiang Mai was not a winding mountain road.

You can take this time to take a nap, and then you can sleep peacefully no matter how many turns there are. Half an hour later, the car started to turn around, and the driver drove very slowly. The motion sickness medicine was very strong, so Yunluo and the others did not react at all. On the contrary, Yunluo, who weighed half as much as Mr. Fatty, took the same dose of motion sickness medicine as him.

The motion sickness pills made him faint the whole time. He fell asleep as soon as he got on the bus, and banged his head on the window glass countless times. He woke himself up with a "bang" and then continued to sleep. Then he bumped into Mr. Fat with a "bang" and continued to sleepzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz? Mr. Fat was annoyed by Yun Luo and tried to wake him up several times, but Yun Luo just responded with a "bang" and continued to sleep.

Mr. Fat couldn't stand it any longer. He almost got mad at Yunluo. The whole journey from Chiang Mai to Pai took 3 hours. Usually, they would stop at a rest stop halfway so that everyone could buy some food, rest, drink some water, go to the bathroom, etc. Yunluo was woken up by Mr. Fat and got off the car. It felt like he was stepping on cotton. He ate some wax apples and drank some water. Then he got back on the car and continued to sleep.

There are a lot of things for sale at the rest stop, including a variety of fruits and skewers, so there is no need to bring a lot of food on the way. The whole journey took 3 hours and we arrived in Pai smoothly. Yunluo and An Chuyu contacted the hostess of kuadkhonthoepaicottage the day before. She said Yunluo and An Chuyu would arrive in Pai at about 2:3 and asked if she could pick them up.

Hostess. Kim said that when Yunluo and Anchu meet Pai, he would call her and tell her which station Yunluo and Anchu are at, and they would come out to pick them up immediately. Because Pai has 4 stations, and Yunluo didn't know which station Yunluo and Anchu would go to at that time, so they decided happily.

Kim once studied in the United States. So his English is excellent, and he has the least accent in the whole trip. Kim's boyfriend, the male host, can speak Chinese. Kim said that he has a very good memory, so he taught himself Chinese. However, during the days when Yunluo and An Chuyu were there, the male host had a family change and went back to his hometown. So they didn't see him.

When she arrived at Pai, she called Kim. Of course, Yunluo still couldn't tell where she was, because the so-called station was a small yard with several cars parked, surrounded by small houses, and no landmark buildings could be found. So Yunluo gave the phone to a Thai person next to her and asked her to tell Kim the location where Yunluo and An Chuyu met.

Yunluo and An Chuyu bought tickets at the station for the day after tomorrow's return to Chiang Mai. The ticket seller didn't speak good English, but he would check the ticket information with you again and again to ensure accuracy. While waiting, Yunluo bought a cup of milk tea at the milk tea shop opposite. This was a cup of milk tea that Yunluo missed so much that she would go there to drink it every day in Pai.

Later, I met a Russian girl who was also buying her milk tea. I talked to her and she said that the milk tea in Pai is the best. The Russian girl said: Of course! She is the queen of milk tea! The blonde girl had wet hair and was dressed like that. It was obvious that she had lived in Pai for a long time. Even the local tyrants said so.

I guess this milk tea must be very authentic. (25b is cheaper than the milk tea from the old lady next door, and the taste is super good. Later one day Yunluo remembered the wrong stall and bought the milk tea from the old lady next door. The taste was really disappointing.) The picture below was taken when I went to buy it for the second time.

Remember this queen. Yunluo will not tell you that the paper bag in the plastic bag below contains milk tea. The Baixian milk tea that you drink from a plastic bag is here! While drinking milk tea, Kim and his father came soon. Kim's father drove a white songthaew. Kim was probably afraid that his father's English was not fluent enough, so he personally came to pick up Yunluo and An Chuyu.

It was the first time for Yunluo and his wife to take a sung tuk. It was heaven to drink milk tea and enjoy the cool breeze while sitting on the sung tuk. It takes about 10 minutes to get to Kuad Khon Thoe Pai Cottage. Kuad Khon Thoe Pai Cottage has a very nice Chinese name, Kong Jing, so I will call it Kong Jing for short in the following text.

As usual, let's look at the map first. Maybe you will ask where Pai is? Pai is located in the northeast of Mae Hong Son Province in northern Thailand, bordering Chiang Mai Province and Shan State. The red area in the picture below is the Pai District, and point A is where the Pai County is located. (The center point in the picture below is the ancient city of Chiang Mai) Khon Kaen, where Yunluo and Anchuyu live, is in Pai County (point F in the picture below).

That is, we moved along Highway 1095. There are actually many other places to go, but we gave up because of the short time and the long distance. You can watch the sunrise in Yunlai in the northwest corner and the sunset in the east. But unfortunately, Yunluo and Anchu are two patients with late-stage and severe getting up syndrome. It is said that Yunluo and Anchu met Kongjing.

Kim gave Yunluo and An Chuyu a hand-drawn map printed on both sides. The important attractions were marked on the map, but unfortunately when Yunluo remembered to take a photo, the map had been ravaged. I believe that other inns in Pai will also provide some maps accordingly, or help you mark the places you want to go on the map.

Overall map of Pai: The top left corner is the sunrise in Yunlai, and the far right is the Meiyan Temple, which is also the best place to watch the sunset. The picture below is the map of Pai County. The lines in green pen indicate the streets of the Sunday market, and the circles at the three corners are the only three traffic lights in Pai County. They can be used as landmarks. Kim patiently explained the various marked points on the Pai map to Yunluo and An Chuyu.

She also used the newly learned Chinese to describe the names of scenic spots from time to time. In fact, Thai people speak Chinese with very standard intonation, which is quite interesting. After giving Yunluo and An Chuyu a general introduction to the entire cottage, she took Yunluo and An Chuyu to the cottage where Yunluo and An Chuyu lived. From the lobby to the cottage, there is a winding path connecting them, and the entire cottage is a large garden.

The hut is part of the garden. Although it is a hut, it is not small in the hotel where Yunluo and An Chuyu stayed, and it is spacious. There is a big sofa, a coffee table and even a small cloakroom in the hut. The design of the bathroom is very fairy-tale, breaking the original stereotyped planning of straight lines for the bathroom, with rounded corners and green paint.

All the elements I like are here. (The only bug is that the shower head is too low. Mr. Fat has to squat to take a shower. It's so funny to laugh at him taking a shower.) The high dome of the cabin made me feel dizzy after taking the motion sickness medicine. I took a shower and went to the swimming pool to cool down. The swimming pool is not big, but the scenery is open.

There is probably no other swimming pool that can enjoy such a vast and quiet beauty as this one. In front of it are fields, and occasionally you can see villagers working in the fields.

A few chickens can be heard in the distance. (The picture below was taken with a GoPro and the color was adjusted with a mobile phone) Khon Kaen Villa Hotel (Kuad Khon Thoe Paicottage) Perhaps heaven is just like this. Perhaps Yunluo has a special feeling for places with few people. The fewer people there are, the happier Yunluo is.

So I am very glad that the hotels I chose along the way are not places where tourists gather. Quiet places can better highlight the local style. There are not many guest rooms in Khon Kaen. There are no more than ten cottages in total, so the room supply is still relatively tight. It was probably mentioned in the travel notes earlier, so this place is almost occupied by Chinese people, and 80% of the tourists are from China.

It is impossible to comment on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. I just hope that the arrival of Yunluo and An Chuyu will not break the tranquility that should be here. The cottage where Yunluo and An Chuyu live is right behind. There is an open lawn in Khon Kaen, where you can run and roll around. The Mediterranean-style lobby upstairs is where Kim lives.

This long staircase has no handrails, but a row of green plants instead. There are many cacti, and the tall cacti look like the towering cacti on the winding mountain road. This skirt is a bright red with a little orange. When I bought it, I really liked this bright red. It is not tacky or old-fashioned, but it is also calm.

But Yunluo, who is used to plain colors, is not used to such vibrant colors, so she rarely wears this skirt. When I took these photos, I thought that Yunluo, who was already wearing wheat-colored clothes, had no chance to wear this skirt, and I didn't have much hope for the photos to turn out well. But now, I find that wheat and red seem to match perfectly, and she looks healthy.

Kim has a dog named Delai, which is a strong bull terrier with full muscles like a pirate captain.

It seems that he can knock you down with a rush of force. Delai is only allowed to go out to play when it is not meal time. If there are guests dining, Delai will be asked to rest in the upstairs room, for fear that he will disturb the guests' meal. Delai is simple and honest, panting heavily while chasing and playing with Yunluo and Anchuyu.

Yunluo and Anchuyu have been thinking about raising a dog. "Sister, give your hat to Yunluo." Kim and her father usually take guests to the county town at 6pm. Today is Sunday, and there is a market. Yunluo and Anchuyu will definitely join in the fun. Kim and her father usually go back to the hotel after sending the guests.

But today is Sunday. The whole family also went to the county town to go shopping and eat, and then came back with Yunluo and An Chuyu at 9:30 pm. So if you don't know how to drive a motorcycle, don't worry, Kim's dad's car will take you to the county town. As long as you tell him your plan in advance, he will definitely help you as much as possible.

Pai is a mountainous area, and the temperature difference between morning and night is quite large. You must bring a long-sleeved jacket when going out at night. Otherwise, you will freeze when riding a sunglow or motorcycle at night. The market in Pai is very small, so you can stroll slowly, choose a favorite restaurant slowly, and taste it slowly. There is no need to rush here, and you will definitely have enough time.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

Many locals can still be seen on the streets and weekend markets of Chiang Mai. The streets of Chiang Mai are full of life, and the weekend markets are not entirely for tourists. But in the county town of Pai, most of the faces are foreigners, and even many shop owners are from other places. Pai is a gathering place for small and fresh food from all over the world.

The shop owner may come from five continents, and the customers in the shop may have lived in Pai for half a year. Pai's existence is like a paradise. It is not competitive and it is leisurely and contented. In the county town of Pai, you can still see people sitting there chatting, but two minutes after leaving the county town, you will immediately return to the deserted countryside.

Every 30 seconds, you can see a small fresh sign on the roadside, but there is no one. Before it gets dark, take a few selfies with my dog. Pai is a very small county town with only 3 traffic lights. So I won’t attach a map here, you can just walk around according to your interests. Pai’s weekend market is not comparable to Chiang Mai’s.

The scale and bustle of Pai are far less than Chiang Mai. Pai has a weaker commercial atmosphere. There are more artists selling their creations or handmade works on the street. From time to time, you can see young people carrying guitars to find musical inspiration on the street, some with long hair or wearing long robes. From the perspective of food, Pai is not as delicious as Chiang Mai.

During the few days in Pai, I tried the roadside stalls in the weekend market and various styles of shops on the street. The average level is lower than Chiang Mai. But there are also some that are eye-catching. As for which ones are worth recommending - go to the busiest one. This law will never go wrong. The one in the picture below is very empty, so the taste is...

When I turned around, I saw this idiot taking a selfie. The retro shop where Mr. Fat had been hanging out for a long time. Here are displayed the nostalgic items collected by the owner and his friends from all over the world. Black toothpaste was far from what it is now in the early days. It changed its packaging many times before it became what it is now.

At 9:30pm, we returned to Kim's dad's car and went home to sleep. The wind was blowing in the songthaew. Although I brought a coat, my legs were still freezing. There are two kinds of quiet Pai nightlife: one is to go to bars and drink. Yunluo and An Chuyu could hear the music coming from afar in the cabin, not because the music was too loud, but because it was too quiet.

Another way is to rest early, go to bed early and get up early to watch the sunrise the next day. However, Yunluo and An Chuyu did not choose these two options. Yunluo and An Chuyu chose the third option - running wild on the lawn and watching the stars.

Today is the day I spent the most time taking photos in Thailand, just because this is Pai. I woke up in the morning to the sound of the rooster crowing. At around 8 o'clock in Pai, it was so quiet that I could only hear the sound of cars racing in the distance. Apart from that, there was no sound of people. Although Khon Kaen hired an aunt to help Kim take care of the hut, he made breakfast by himself.

Although the taste is not very outstanding, but thinking that it is made by Kim himself and in such a beautiful place, I can't help but enjoy the meal. Classic American breakfast, with three kinds of fried eggs to choose from. The portion is very large. Kim was busy making breakfast almost all morning, and locked Delai in the room upstairs before going into the kitchen.

The temperature difference between morning and evening in Pai is very large, usually more than 10 degrees in the morning and evening, so you must bring a set of long-sleeved and long pants. I saw many girls wearing down jackets directly, but I personally feel that it is not necessary if you don’t want to watch the sunrise. Because the cool time in the morning and evening is not long. It is enough to bring a slightly thicker coat.

For Yunluo, a pair of leggings is enough, and the slight coolness is quite comfortable. Is Yunluo similar to her? When I went out at around nine in the morning, I didn't feel how strong the sun was. I thought the sun wouldn't be that strong, so I put on some sunscreen and went out. The skin on my back has started to peel, and the more I put on sunscreen, the more it peeled. I can't put it on anymore.

I could only apply some lotion to make it look less scary. But it turns out that the sun in the mountains is not to be underestimated. After a day, my neck was red and swollen, and my legs and feet were almost peeling after a week of exposure. I must apply sunscreen well, don't be like Yunluo, whose instep is still as black as a nut.

MAC liquid foundation is very easy to use. I used MAC throughout the whole process. My face was slightly sunburned for a few days and had some rashes due to sun exposure, but compared with other parts of the body, it was the least sunburned. In other words, Yunluo's face is now the whitest. The sun protection ability of liquid foundation and primer with SPF50 is absolutely ok.

Today is the only full 24 hours in Pai. I rented a scooter and had no trouble traveling in the small county of Pai. Khon Kaen has its own scooter, 150b/day. The horsepower was not enough that day, but the price was cheap enough, and I couldn't ask for too much. Not far from the door was a bougainvillea field. Yunluo and Anchuyu, two naive kids, couldn't help but stop to take pictures. (To be continued...)
