It took us a long time to choose an island. There are so many islands in Maldives that we were overwhelmed. We originally booked AKV Island. The biggest feature of this island is that the rooms are large. The average room is more than 200 square meters. In addition, there is an underwater restaurant. Later, Yunluo and I thought about it carefully and felt that more than 200 square meters might not be enough for two people.
Besides, there is an underwater restaurant in Sanya Ocean World. If you want to eat underwater, you can just take a piece of bread and eat in the underwater tunnel. It only costs more than 100 yuan. Finally, after considering the price, personal preference, comfort, snorkeling environment and reputation, I chose the Thai-style Dusit Thani Hotel.
The house price is the cheapest in the whole year, and there is no heavy rain in the so-called rainy season. It rains for 10 minutes at most and then stops. You can see rainbows after the rain. Moreover, the rainbows in Duxi Tianque often appear together, one on the left, one on the right, or both above and below. It is as if one rainbow has not disappeared yet, and another one changes direction and hangs in the sky again.
A rainbow hung in the sky on a sunny morning after the rain. The photo was taken at the pier next to the water sports center of Dusit Thani Island. After returning to the water house, another rainbow hung in the sky on the other side. Instant noodles can basically be retired from the stage of history. I don’t know about other islands, but most of the packages at Dusit Thani are breakfast and dinner, which is HB (halfboard).
Both breakfast and dinner are buffets, and the food is very rich. Later, when I had breakfast at Sands in Singapore, I felt like I couldn't eat anymore, and I looked around with my plate in a daze. Breakfast was served until 10:30, and dinner started at 6:30. Generally speaking, I didn't feel hungry at lunch.
So you don't need to bring mustard tuber, instant noodles, etc. Besides, the amount of exercise on the island is actually quite high, and eating instant noodles is a bit too much. You can bring some high-calorie snacks, such as Snickers, but not too much. There will be a detailed introduction to the island's diet later. You don't need to bring a universal plug, the hotel will provide it.
The Maldives is now very well developed. There are power strips and the like. If you don't have much luggage, just bring one. It doesn't matter if you don't have any. Just ask the hotel for a few more. You can bring a bottle of mosquito repellent spray. Although Yunluo and An Chuyu were basically not bitten during those few days, it's a six-star island after all, and there are liquid electric mosquito coils in the rooms.
I only got two mosquito bites in the hotel lobby. If you have your own snorkeling gear, bring it with you. If not, you don't need to bring it, as the water sports center on the island can rent it for free. If you don't have a water goggles, or the water goggles are not fog-proof, bring an anti-fog spray.
However, I grew up by the sea, so when my goggles fog up in the sea, I usually take them off and wash them in the sea, then put them on my head. The hotel in Duxi Tianque provides laundry service, but it costs two dollars to wash a pair of underwear, and other clothes are even more expensive. I only pay a few dollars for a pair of underwear. I don’t actually need to bring a clothesline or anything like that, I just spread it out on the floor outside at noon.
It will dry quickly if it doesn't rain. For cameras, a DSLR and a cell phone are enough. Cell phones are now fully capable of daily photography, selfies, etc. For DSLRs. If you are planning to change your camera, I strongly recommend the Canon 6D. It performs very well in low light, when it's dark, most cameras can't clearly capture your face.
It can also make your nose look like a nose and your eyes look like eyes. And the 6D is relatively light and easy to carry. The wind is strong at the Maldives seaside, so it is necessary to choose a sturdy tripod. Bring some lens cleaning paper and air blower. It is better to be prepared. Camera shooting location at the seaside: Dusit Thani. You need to bring an underwater camera.
If you don't have one, go to Taobao and rent one. Don't worry about your photography skills. You will regret it if you don't bring one. You will miss a lot of memories. The one that Yunluo rented is Canon. I think Olympus is better, after all, it is the originator of three-proof cameras. Remember to buy insurance when you rent. Remember, remember.
Here is a picture of me snorkeling. My camera is average and my ability is limited. Just make do with it. The rest depends on your mood. Don't forget to activate international roaming for your phone. If you are only going to Maldives, you don't need to activate the data package. Dusit Thani Wi-Fi covers the whole island, so you can not only post to Moments, but also video chat with friends and relatives in China.
Show it on the spot. In fact, Maldives is really well developed now, and it is well promoted in China, so it is very suitable for Chinese people to travel. After the preparations are done, you can wait for a happy departure. Yunluo and An Chuyu set off from Zhoushuizi Airport at 2 pm local time, first passing the border inspection and then the security check.
I feel that the exit check in China is stricter than the entry check in Maldives. A buddy who often leads a group of people to Korea was stopped at the border inspection and asked to write a guarantee letter to promise that they would come back after going to Korea. It feels a bit scary. Picture description: Luggage of two people at the airport. Yunluo and the two each brought a large suitcase and a backpack.
International flights should allow 20 kg of luggage per person for free, so the total for two people should not exceed 40 kg. The luggage was delivered directly to Male International Airport. The hardware of Korean aircraft is good. You can use your mobile phone on it, just turn it into flight mode, and there is also a USB charging port.
The movies are pretty good, from the classic Casablanca, Roman Holiday to the recently released Avengers 2, which basically meet the needs. Arrived at Incheon Airport, and then started waiting again. However, women who need it can go to various duty-free shops, and it is said that the things are quite cheap. When getting off the plane, I found that many foreigners from other countries who came to Korea for transit or tourism wore masks.
But there were still people coming and going in the airport. I felt that MERS had little impact. During the time, I saw a few Korean girls playing MJ's songs on violin and piano in the airport. Yunluo listened to the full version of Beatit next to them. We took off at around 11pm and arrived in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, at around 3am local time (6am Beijing time).
The layover was about two hours, so I wandered around the Colombo airport. As soon as I turned off the flight mode, I received a text message from China Mobile. I wish Yunluo a happy trip to India. But Yunluo was clearly in Sri Lanka. There were quite a few people at the airport at three o'clock in the morning, and most of the duty-free shops were still open.
The main products are tea and various spices. The price is quite cheap, about the same as the tea bags sold by Lipton in China. If you need it, you can buy some to bring back as souvenirs for your colleagues. At 6 o'clock in the morning local time, the plane started to take off again. It only takes one hour from Colombo to Male. At that time, the clouds felt very thick on the plane.
Plus, when I was in China, I saw the weather forecast for Male. It was cloudy for several days in a row, so I was quite nervous. Male International Airport Dusit Thani Hotel Male Entry is quite simple. I filled in the entry and exit forms on the plane. The English on them is relatively simple. I took out my passport and ticket and filled them out accordingly.
The immigration officer will at most ask you the name of the hotel, and the whole process takes less than a minute. After picking up your luggage, you can go and exchange some US dollars. When Yunluo and An Chuyu went to exchange, the window said that they were out of change. Then the curly-haired Xiao Hei who came to pick up Yunluo and An Chuyu said that they could go to the hotel lobby to exchange, so it didn't matter if they didn't get any.
Duxi Tianque staff will be waiting for you at the airport exit. Yunluo and An Chuyu were the first couple to arrive that day. After waiting for a while at the airport, a Korean couple and a Chinese couple also arrived. Xiao Hei led Yunluo, An Chuyu and the other two to the airport lounge. The one on the left is Xiao Hei who picked up Yunluo and An Chuyu.
On the right is a long line of hotel staff who pick up tourists. As long as you remember the name of your hotel, you don't have to worry about getting lost. The lounge is on the second floor of the airport, with free wifi, drinks, and simple breakfast. Yunluo and Anchuyu chose to take an inland plane + speedboat to the island. The seaplane is more expensive per person at $75.
When you arrive at the lounge, Xiao Hei will take your passport and luggage to help you check in and get your boarding pass. You just need to eat, drink, surf the Internet and post to your friends in the lounge. When it is almost time to board the plane, someone will take you there. The water in Male' Port is very clear and light in color. The sea in the north is the kind that makes you feel relaxed when you look at it.
This kind of tropical sea, after seeing it, you just want to jump in, without thinking about anything else. Another picture of the airport port, with giant ships vaguely visible in the distance. The locals don't seem to have any sense of time. The boarding pass says boarding at 10:25, but it's 10:20 and no one has informed Yunluo and An Chuyu whether to go or not.
Yunluo and An Chuyu panicked for a moment. Their friends sent Yunluo to get information. The front desk lady at the lounge said, "Why are you in such a hurry? Your flight is not until 10:55. Don't worry. Someone will notify you." Yunluo and An Chuyu didn't leave the lounge until 10:50, and the plane finally started boarding at around 11:10.
The plane in Maldives is quite cute, with a big dolphin painted on its tail. Pearls or tears of the Indian Ocean? Anyway. When the plane takes off, you will understand that people are not exaggerating when describing the beauty of Maldives. The light of the sky and the shadows of the clouds wander together, and when the plane flies in the sky, sometimes you can't tell where the sea is and where the sky is.
Occasionally, you can see a water plane flying under Yunluo and An Chuyu's plane. The plane flew for about half an hour. We arrived at the island of the transfer station. There are also Duxi Tianque staff to pick you up here. You don't have to pick up your luggage by yourself. You can just take the hotel's car to the pier to take the speedboat.
The airport and the electric car that takes tourists to the pier. On the way to the pier, the road was already full of tropical scenery. Looking back at the small houses on the island on the boat, my friends said they really appreciated the colorful houses. After everyone got together, they put on their life jackets and the speedboat started. It took about 10 minutes to get to Dusit, which was quite fast.
It felt like a whitewater rafting trip. After about 22 hours of travel, Yunluo and An Chuyu finally reached the island. As expected of a Thai-style island, as soon as you get off the boat, a row of black people will say "Sawadee Ka" to you. It feels like the style is a bit wrong. This is a photo of the Duxi pier that was taken later.
Every day, several waves of people come here with great expectations, and some people leave reluctantly. The logo and fonts of Dusit Thani are also quite Thai. When you arrive at the hotel lobby, you will be given a towel to wipe your face and a welcome drink. Then you can go to your room after signing a few papers.
It doesn't matter if you don't speak English well, there are still a few Chinese butlers on the island. The hotel lobby of Duxi Tianque, sit here for a while and then go to the room. Yunluo and An Chuyu stayed in the sand house first, and then the water house. Yunluo's room number is 109. The luxury sand room of Duxi Tianque is big enough, and the yard is also big.
There is a swimming pool in the backyard, which is quite private. It is quite relaxing, but the sea in front is not suitable for snorkeling. The air conditioning is good, and you can see some hotel activities on TV, such as fishing, watching dolphins, learning to cook Thai food, etc. You can also see the schedule, and the movies are free.
The bed will be made by the waiter twice a day. Remember to leave a tip for the waiter. There will be a surprise. The little turtle toy on the cabinet can be taken away for free. But the manta ray on the bed will cost 40 US dollars. The champagne, snacks, fruits and other gifts for the honeymoon have been placed in the room.
If you can't finish the champagne in one go, Xiao Hei will add ice for you. Haosha has 4 bottles of water a day, and the coffee machine next to it can make coffee for yourself every day, but Yunluo doesn't like coffee. So I never used it once. I brought a lot of tea bags with me, and it's good to drink some Chinese tea every day. The road from Haosha to the beach is quite private.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
There is a swimming pool in the backyard of Haosha. It feels good to swim in it or take a dip in it at night. The drinks in the refrigerator are free and you can drink as much as you want. Xiao Hei will replenish them every day. Red Bull, Coke, beer, juice. Everything is available. It was almost noon when I arrived at my room, so I basically took a shower and rested.
After you have recovered, you can walk around the island. There are two lounge chairs and parasols on the beach of the sand house. You can take an iced drink and lie comfortably on the beach. There are many small animals on the beach, such as hermit crabs, which are very cute. It is difficult to take a picture of the face of this little thing. It shrinks back when you get close to it.
There are also small crabs on the beach that are almost the same color as the sand, running very fast. After a good rest, the sun is not so strong anymore, so it is a good time to go out and walk around the whole island. The transportation on the island is bicycles. Each room is equipped with two bicycles, and the room number is on the back of the bicycle. Don't worry about riding the wrong one. If the bicycle is taken away by someone else, it will be returned to your door the next day.
The bike is a legendary fixed gear bike, without brakes, but you can stop it by riding in the opposite direction. In short, it takes about 3-5 minutes for ordinary Chinese people to master it. The jar at the door is filled with water to wash the sand off your feet, and Xiao Hei comes to fill it up every day. The island of Duxi Tianque is 12 hectares at high tide and 15 hectares at low tide.
It takes about 45-60 minutes to walk around the island. There are tropical plants and buildings on both sides of the road. The island has luxurious suites for a large family. Yunluo and An Chuyu walked clockwise, so the first place they came to was the infinity pool on the island. Dusit Thani Island has the largest infinity pool in the Maldives, about 750 square meters.
Here you can practice snorkeling and try out your equipment. There is a big tree in the middle of the pool, which is considered to be the iconic plant of Duxi Tianque. It is also very pleasant to swim under the shade of the tree at noon. There is a barbecue restaurant next to the pool, but most people who come to this island have meals, so you hardly see anyone eating here.
There are many kinds of lizards, geckos, bats, etc. on the island. Some of them can be seen in the backyard of the room, but they are good friends of Yunluo and An Chuyu, helping to eat mosquitoes. Continue to turn clockwise and you will reach the Thai restaurant on the island. The free honeymoon meal is also here. You can make an appointment at the front desk or with the butler.
The section from the Thai restaurant to the water sports center is also the most suitable area for snorkeling. The sea is not rough, and there are many corals and fish underwater. Therefore, those who like snorkeling should choose the water house here. It is guaranteed to be fun. Yunluo and Anchu met those who lived in Haosha Haoshui and wanted to snorkel, so they had to ride across half of the island.
At the dock of the water sports center on the island, you can rent snorkels, goggles, fins and other snorkeling equipment here, all for free. You can return them the day before leaving the island. After circling the island, go back to the room to rest, and it is almost time for dinner. The dinner for the packaged meals on the island is eaten at the market restaurant, which is a buffet with a different theme every day.
But the food is good, and there are performances. Yunluo and Anchu met on the island on Sunday, and the theme of the day was BBQ. There were basically beef, mutton and seafood, and the food was delicious. It should be noted that the restaurant does not provide water or drinks at night. A bottle of water costs $5. There are three kinds of beer, Corona, Heineken and Lion, and a small bottle costs $9.
Buy two get one free, which is about the same price as the average bar in China, so it's quite generous. After dinner, I returned to the room. Xiao Hei had already cleaned the room again. I washed and brushed, swam and took a bath, and the first day was over. The second day on the island was sunny again, although there were many clouds in the sky.
But it can't block the sun at all. After lying on the beach for a while, I went back to the room to wash up and then went to have breakfast. You don't have to go too early, breakfast is served until 10 o'clock. Breakfast is also eaten in the market restaurant, which is very suitable for Chinese people's taste. Not only is there everything from porridge, noodles and rice, but also steamed dumplings, buns, and soy milk are also good.
There are all kinds of freshly squeezed juices, and you can eat and drink as much as you want. The sashimi tastes good too. The fried eggs are highly recommended. After breakfast, we decided to go to the water sports center to rent some snorkeling equipment. At the beginning, I sent Yunluo Jiazun up, and Xiaohei asked her if she had any snorkeling experience, and she answered honestly that she had no experience.
As a result, Xiao Hei refused to rent to her and insisted that she take a snorkeling lesson for $75. In the end, Yunluo had to step in and told her to hide aside and not to speak. Yunluo came to try. Xiao Hei asked Yunluo if she could swim, and Yunluo said that she grew up by the sea. As a result, he helped four people rent snorkeling equipment smoothly. (To be continued...)
