Chapter 136 Reminder
After class, I walked towards my own milk tea dessert shop.
As we walked, we arrived near the mall. From a distance, we saw a group of people chasing someone. Curious, I walked closer and found that the person being chased was Gu Yucheng!
Gu Yucheng was seen running desperately, and a group of ferocious-looking people were following closely behind him.
Without hesitation, I grabbed Gu Yucheng and said anxiously, "Hurry, follow me!" After that, I quickly pulled him into the stairs next to me.
As soon as I reached the stairwell, I couldn't wait to ask, "Who is chasing you?"
Gu Yucheng stared at me intently, and replied grimly, "I'm not sure."
I couldn't help but frown and asked doubtfully, "I saw the news about your father. Are you okay?"
Then I noticed that there was a knife wound on Gu Yucheng's arm, and his originally white shirt was stained with blood.
After a moment of silence, Gu Yucheng explained calmly, "I'm fine. I personally sent him in."
My eyes widened in shock. "Why?"
"He is suspected of corruption and bribery, and this is the punishment he deserves..." Gu Yucheng said seriously.
"But he is also your father? You are like this..." I couldn't help but interrupt him.
"Yao Qian, do you know why I want to be a policeman? I have been waiting for this day for a long time. When I think about how he and his lover angered my mother to death, I will never forgive him in my life!" Gu Yucheng said in a cold tone.
After hearing Gu Yucheng's words, a complex emotion welled up in my heart. I couldn't help but feel a little pity, thinking that he might be doing this out of inner pain.
"Did you really feel good after he went in?" I asked softly.
Gu Yucheng's tone remained icy, but his eyes revealed a hint of sadness. He said slowly, "This is his own style of work. I'm just doing my job." There was a resoluteness in his words, as if he was trying to hide the pain in his heart.
I sighed softly, looked into his eyes, and continued, "There's nothing wrong with what you did, but it's both emotionally and logically...as long as you have a clear conscience." I tried to comfort him with a gentle tone.
Gu Yucheng lowered his head silently, lost in thought. His face showed little expression, but I could sense the painful struggle within him.
I gently patted his shoulder and said comfortingly, "Yucheng, don't hold on to the hatred so deeply. Let it go! Otherwise, you will suffer for the rest of your life! Your mother certainly doesn't want to see you so sad."
He trembled slightly, then raised his head, a trace of sadness flashing in his eyes. He gritted his teeth and whispered, "Thank you."
Then he fell silent again.
After a while, he suddenly whispered, "They should have left." There was a hint of fatigue in his voice.
I nodded and took out my cell phone to call Xu Fei and ask him to pick up Gu Yucheng.
I looked at him and said seriously, "I'm still worried about you being alone. I'll call Xu Fei and ask him to pick you up."
After that, I made a phone call, briefly explained the situation to Xu Fei, and told him our location.
After hanging up the phone, I stood quietly beside Gu Yucheng, waiting for Xu Fei to arrive.
Not long after, Xu Fei hurried over. He was wearing a neat police uniform, and his profile revealed a handsome and confident smile.
"Yao Qian, thank you!" Xu Fei said gratefully, his eyes falling on me.
"We are friends, no need to be so polite. But you have to take good care of Yucheng! I feel that he must be feeling very uncomfortable right now. Besides, who has the guts to openly chase the police like this?" I asked doubtfully.
Xu Fei looked at me, as if he wanted to say something, but hesitated.
Finally, he patted my shoulder gently and said after a moment's silence, "Yao Qian, let me handle this matter. I heard that you are getting married to Yu Sheng next month?"
"Yeah!" I looked confused and couldn't help but start thinking about his question.
"Yao Qian, we are friends after all, so I just want to remind you.
Yu Sheng might not be as good as he seems, and I'm worried you'll be deceived by him." Xu Fei hesitated, afraid of saying something wrong and embarrassing me, but also hoping to warn me.
At this moment, Gu Yucheng interrupted and said, "Yao Qian, she doesn't know."
"Are you investigating Yu Sheng?" I asked a little nervously.
They exchanged a glance. "We're investigating Xie Xin's company. But in Shengcheng, everyone knows that Yu Sheng is Xie Xin's older brother," Gu Yucheng said.
My heart sank. "Yu Sheng and Xie Xin do have a relationship, but..."
Xu Fei quickly comforted me, "This is only a preliminary investigation, and we need to delve deeper into the specifics. But Yao Qian, you'd better be careful."
I nodded with a heavy expression, "I understand. Thank you for your reminder."
After seeing them off, my mood became more complicated.
