Chapter 56 Grandpa

Chapter 56 Grandpa

Finally arriving in Jicheng, Dad parked the car in front of a small courtyard. This was my grandparents' home, a little shabby but full of warmth.

Walking into the yard, I saw my grandfather. He was lying on the kang (a traditional Chinese kang) in the northeast. He had become very thin, and the traces of time were deeply engraved on his face.

He was a stubborn and obstinate old man, but also a kind and gentle grandfather. He never looked down on me because I was a girl, and he treated all his grandchildren equally. When I was a child, he would always hold my hand and tell us about Chairman Mao's glorious deeds. He would also carefully teach me to memorize the multiplication table.

When I was young, my learning ability was always slower than others, but my grandfather never said that I was stupid or anything like that. He just told me to work harder.

My grandfather once said: "Whether it is a boy or a girl, as long as they are from the Yao family, they must be motivated, strong, and have backbone!" This sentence has always been deeply imprinted in my heart.

That night, Dad and his brothers quietly stayed by Grandpa's bed, watching him breathe in pain. Seeing all the Yao family members around him, Grandpa smiled with relief, shook his wrist slightly, and then slowly closed his eyes.

The entire room was filled with sorrowful cries, and everyone's tears merged into a river of sorrow. Even my father, usually tall and mighty, cried like a helpless child. It was then that I truly understood the fear and pain of losing a loved one.

According to the traditional customs of the countryside, the family began to busy themselves with preparations for the funeral. Not long after, wreaths and a group of people playing music arrived at the house.

At this moment, my cell phone suddenly rang, and the screen showed that it was Yu Sheng calling. I realized that I had forgotten to tell Yu Sheng about my grandfather's death. I looked at the time and it should be time to go home from school.

I picked up the phone, my voice still hoarse from crying: "Hello!"

Yu Sheng's voice came over: "I'm at the gate of your school, are you crying?"

I sniffed and said, "My...grandfather passed away. I'm in Jicheng now. I forgot to tell you. I'm sorry, Yu Sheng!" I apologized sadly, and tears couldn't help but flow out again.

Yu Sheng's expression suddenly became a little angry.

But he still asked patiently: "When do you plan to come back?"

"I...will stay for a few days..." I said hesitantly.

Yu Sheng had previously suspected that she was avoiding him, but now he could confirm that she was avoiding him.

Yu Sheng gripped the phone tightly, veins popping in his hand as he roared, "You went back to Jicheng without telling me, and there was no news after you returned. If I didn't ask you, were you planning to keep it a secret?"

"I'm very sad now. Let's talk about it when we get back." I said coldly.

The moment I saw him flirting with another woman, I knew I had to break up with him. I didn't want to be his woman blindly, even if there were serious consequences. I didn't want to be afraid! Because the Yao family can't lose their backbone.

Hearing Yao Qian's words, Yu Sheng almost died of anger! Was it because he liked her too much and let her spoil him? Yu Sheng hung up the phone angrily, clenching his fists, and the veins on his hands bulged.

His facial expression revealed irritability.

"Old Xu, go to the boxing gym!" Yu Sheng ordered. Boxing was his way of letting off steam.

I put all my energy into Yao Qian! She's still so cold to me, and doesn't know how to cooperate in bed, like a dead fish. I don't even despise her! Now she just hides away...

"Okay, Mr. Yu." Old Xu looked at Yu Sheng's expression and didn't dare to ask any more questions.

Yu Sheng walked into the boxing gym without saying a word, put on gloves, and started punching wildly, each punch carrying endless power and anger.

"Ah!" He shouted, venting all the dissatisfaction and anger in his heart.

The sparring partner was beaten back step by step, but he still tried his best to dodge to avoid being seriously injured. However, Yu Sheng's punches became more and more fierce, giving the opponent no chance to breathe.

Anger and unwillingness filled Yu Sheng's heart. He punched very hard, causing his comrade to bleed profusely on his face.

Sweat dripped down his forehead, soaking his clothes, but he didn't care. At this moment, he just wanted to release the pain and unwillingness in his heart in this way.

Yu Sheng’s mind echoed the scene where Yao Qian glared at him and said: You are dispensable to me.

He shouted again: "Ah!"

Time passed by minute by minute, and Yu Sheng finally stopped what he was doing. He was breathing heavily, his eyes still filled with resentment and anger. But he knew that no matter what, he would not let Yao Qian go.

"Old Xu, let's go." Yu Sheng said coldly, then turned and left the boxing gym.

Old Xu hurried to catch up. He knew very well that Yu Sheng was in a bad mood at the moment, but he didn't know what to say to comfort his leader.
