Chapter 18 Chapter 18 Dispute

Chapter 18 Chapter 18 Dispute

When I returned to the classroom, almost everyone was there. Every day after dinner, the city has 25 minutes to listen to listening exercises, and the first evening self-study session starts at 6:30.

Xu Sui stood on the podium and looked down, and suddenly found that the seat behind him was empty. He glanced at Jiang Changjia and saw that Jiang Song was not there either.

Jiang Changjia saw Xu Sui looking over here and thought he was looking at her. His eyes rolled around and he threw her a coquettish look. Xu Sui pursed his lips and smiled.

Almost everyone in Class 1 had arrived. Xu Sui glanced at Zhao Jianhua, who was standing at the front door. Zhao Jianhua had obviously noticed, and nodded at Xu Sui, saying, "Just release it."

Xu Suishou opened the English listening folder on the projector. After two clicks, the familiar listening prelude sounded in his ears.

The sound of flipping pages was heard. Before sitting down, Xu Sui couldn't help but glance at Song Shiyang's desk again, and then glanced at the back door, but there was still no one there.

Instead, I saw Zhao Jianhua walking slowly towards the back door.

When the listening section was at the third question, there was a noise behind. Most people were still immersed in the pure English accent, but a few people couldn't help but lower their heads and secretly look at the back door from the crook of their arms.

Xu Sui listened attentively at first, but he could always hear the faint sound of conversation behind him.

"Being late...can't happen again..."

"Jiang Song you..." Zhao Jianhua's voice.

"We were wrong, we were wrong. There won't be a next time." Jiang Song begged for mercy perfunctorily. After saying that, he touched Song Shiyang with his hands behind his back and winked at him.

Song Shiyang turned his head slightly and glanced at him.

"Hurry up." Jiang Song mouthed.

"There won't be a next time." He withdrew his gaze and whispered, with a hint of sincerity in his tone, but not much.

But teachers in their forties and fifties just fell for this trick, and since the two students had good grades and were also "well-behaved", Zhao Jianhua was coaxed into feeling relaxed. He smiled and let them go back to their seats without calling them to the office for ideological education.

"There are too many rules in this city." Jiang Song complained softly as the two returned to their seats. The hearing aid was loud and covered tightly, so only Song Shiyang, who was walking next to him, could hear it clearly.

"Too late." Song Shiyang sneered, "Get out." Jiang Song kicked him, leaving a mark on his trouser leg.

Just as they reached a fork in the road, Jiang Song quickly slipped away and was not caught by Song Shiyang.

Song Shiyang walked forward a few steps and arrived at his seat. His deskmate was a boy. For some reason, he subconsciously shook when he saw Song Shiyang.

His hand froze as he reached into the bookcase to get the listening material. He slowly raised his head and stared at the man for a moment before suddenly asking, "What are you afraid of?"

"I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid. Just listen and listen to the listening comprehension." The thin-looking boy clenched his pen, stared at the white paper, and shook his head slightly.

Song Shiyang saw his nervousness and fear, but without looking at him again, he took out the listening book and tapped the back of Xu Sui's chair with a pen.

The moment Xu Sui sat down, he focused his attention on the back. When he felt a slight tremor behind him, he slightly turned sideways and said, "Fifty-six."

My eyes were fixed on a spot on his desk, and suddenly I felt a breath approaching, very faint, like the first cold snow in winter, clear and elegant.

"What did you say? I didn't hear you clearly." He suddenly leaned closer, pressing the inner edge of the table against his upper body, and listened to Xu Sui's words with his ear tilted.

Xu Sui felt like her heart was about to burst out of her chest. They were too close at the moment. Perhaps it was an illusion, but she felt that if she were any closer she could feel his breathing. She swallowed and sat forward a little, her voice rising a little as she spoke word by word: "Listening Comprehension Book, page 56."

The listening passage was halfway through, and the man and woman in the audio were still talking. Song Shiyang frowned as he looked at the girl's thin back, then his eyes fell on the listening book. He turned to page 56, glanced up and down at the questions, and based on the few sentences of conversation he had just heard, he could roughly guess which question the audio was playing.

He lowered his eyes to look at the options and quickly ticked option A.

The days in No. 1 City School are boring yet fulfilling. When I can't concentrate on the class, I always feel that time is passing too slowly when I look at the round wall clock on the podium. The class is late, and when I am listening intently, time passes by in a flash, catching me off guard.

But for Xu Sui, every day in No. 1 Middle School has extraordinary significance. When he looks up, he sees the blackboard, and when he turns around, he sees him.

Getting along with Shu Siyun was not as difficult as she had imagined, because the two of them would never have any interaction unless they talked to each other on purpose. Except for the occasional English homework collection, Shu Siyun, as the group leader, would come to her seat to hand in the notebook, and they would never say a word.

As time went by, Xu Sui also got to know many people, including Xie Zhuoyuan and Zhou Shi who often came to visit his class. Zhou Shi's classroom was far away, but since Xu Zhiyao also liked to come to play with Xu Sui and Jiang Changjia, the two suddenly met one day and hit it off and became visiting class partners.

Every time after the second class or after dinner, she would look back and see a few people peeking out the back door, but there was still very little for her to say to Song Shiyang, and their interactions only occurred occasionally when Jiang Changjia, Xie Zhuoyuan and others talked to him.

Oh, by the way, there will be a conversation between the two of them when he hands over the physics and math papers.

Song Shiyang still habitually tapped the back of her chair with his pen. Xu Sui turned sideways to look at him, meeting his light brown eyes, and listened to his clear and transparent voice slowly say: "This is the weekly test paper for Eighth Middle School. The questions I marked are the key points. Do them carefully, understand the knowledge points thoroughly, then review them, and then find similar questions to practice in the pile of teaching materials you bought."

When he said the last sentence, he didn't know what he was thinking about, but he suddenly tilted his head and chuckled. Then he clenched his fist, coughed lightly, looked up at her and said, "Sorry."

Xu Sui guessed what he was thinking and was speechless and shy for a moment. He pinched his index finger with his left thumb and stretched out his right hand to take it. He couldn't help but glare at him, then hurriedly turned his head and moved the chair forward a little.

How can I still remember it after so long? And what's so funny about this?!

Isn’t it just that I bought too many teaching aids?

Another weekly test was over. Xu Sui picked up his bag and walked downstairs hand in hand with Jiang Changjia. The scene of three grades leaving school together was quite spectacular. Students came out of several teaching buildings and split into two groups. The big group walked towards the school gate, and the small group walked in the opposite direction.

Xu Sui said goodbye to Jiang Changjia and Xu Zhiyao on the first floor. They were both day students and were going different ways.

After returning to the dormitory, Xu Sui quickly took a bucket to get hot water, put his pajamas in a bag and hung it in the shower stall.

They shared a dormitory for ten people with a private bathroom, but there were only two shower cubicles. The shower head and water pipes were covered with a thick layer of rust, making them completely unusable. They could only get water from a long water collection pool next to it.

"I'm really impressed. The school receives so much bonus from the government every year. Can't they use some of it to renovate the dormitories? This dormitory is older than me!" Chen Yue stood in line at the back with a bucket, rolled his eyes and complained.

Someone at the back responded: "Yes, it's speechless. It's a key city university, but the conditions are so bad. I should have gone to Nankai University earlier." said a tall and thin girl.

"Did you get into the experimental class at Nanjing Affiliated School?" Chen Yue suddenly asked. The air around them fell silent, and the girl's expression changed again and again. Xu Sui frowned at the slightly harsh words and was about to speak, but the girl behind him said first: "You don't have to say that."

"Why are you meddling in other people's business? Is someone talking to you?" Chen Yue glared at the girl and said, "clang!" The bucket hit the floor with a loud bang.

The others who were chatting outside came running in and asked, "What's wrong? What happened?"

"I was already annoyed because I didn't do well on the exam, and now they have to argue with me every time I say something." Chen Yue was the first to complain, and squeezed out a few tears in front of Xu Sui's astonishment.

The girl's face flushed red as she looked at the girl who had been verbally attacked by Chen Yue and said, "You are the person involved. Tell me... who was the first to attack whom?"

Xu Sui glanced at the girl hiding at the back and knew that she would not speak. After all, they seemed to be having a good time and they walked together during meals and breaks.

"What party involved? I didn't say anything against Xiaoyue, so don't throw dirty water on me." She tried her best to appear confident.

Xu Sui connected the hot water, and as she took the bucket down from above, she said, "Can you please stop talking nonsense?" Her voice was flat and emotionless, and she went into the bathroom without even looking at the group of people standing there.

The girl standing behind her looked at her in surprise, with gratitude in her eyes.

"Are you crazy?" Chen Yue turned his head and kicked the bathroom partition, cursing at the inside.

"baffling!"

The girls standing there looked at each other and probably understood something, but didn't say anything. After being together for more than a month, they probably understood each other's personalities.

They just pulled Chen Yue aside and talked for a few words as if it was a joke, then went about their own business.

The next afternoon, the weekly test results were released. Shu Siyun posted the report card on the blackboard at the back, and a group of people rushed up to take a look.

"I knew I was going to fall back this time, five places."

"Math is so difficult, who got a high score?!" After saying that, he glanced at the names: "Oh, Song Shiyang, that's nothing." Xu Sui stood on tiptoe at the back to look, and the first thing that caught his eye was the blinding scores of the person sitting behind him. He closed his eyes to avoid being hurt, and then looked down to find his own ranking.

This time, the second place went to Jiang Song, Zhang Wenjun was third, and Jiang Changjia performed normally and returned to fourth.

Finally saw my name on number thirty-five.

After moving forward more than ten places, which was within Xu Sui's budget, he casually glanced and saw the name behind his own. Xu Sui was surprised at first, raised his eyebrows slightly, and then quickly returned to normal. When he was about to leave, he felt someone pushing him from behind.

"Can you please leave quickly after you've finished looking? Why are you blocking the road here?" Xu Sui turned around and looked at the man's face. He looked familiar. He had just talked to her last night.

Pulling the corner of his mouth, Xu Sui said: "Quality is something that not everyone has." Then he walked out of the crowd without looking back, letting her jump up and down.
