On Christmas Eve, Roppongi Midtown in Tokyo hosted a "Starlight Night," where hundreds of thousands of LED lights illuminated simultaneously, attracting hundreds of thousands of people to enjoy this magnificent Christmas light show.
Su Xun had checked the route on his phone in advance, and took Pei Ke by train to Roppongi. The night of lights started at 5 pm, so they went to a nearby restaurant for dinner first, and waited for the thousands of lights to come on.
Many people have already gathered in the streets and squares, quietly waiting for the grand moment.
"I heard that Tokyo has had a night of lights for the past few years, it's really beautiful." Su Xun took Pei Ke's arm, and the two walked aimlessly with the crowd.
"People around me have mentioned it, but I haven't seen it yet." Every December, several areas in Tokyo hold such events, and the whole area is filled with starlight. He had heard some classmates mention it when he was in school, but the scene was crowded and chaotic, so he wasn't very interested.
However, since he came with Su Xun, he felt that the air around him was not so sticky, the crowd was not so crowded, and everything was so easy to accept.
“Then you can take a good look today. Let me tell you, a colleague of mine came here last year and is still showing off those photos.” She wrinkled her nose. “She’s so smug about it. I’m going to take some really amazing photos this year too.”
Pei Ke glanced helplessly at Su Xun's indignant little eyes and couldn't help but laugh, "I'll take the picture for you, it will definitely be better than hers."
He lifted the small black bag with his other hand. No wonder Su Xun insisted that he bring the camera before he left; that's why.
As darkness fell, a blanket of night descended, enveloping the entire city.
The huge billboard displayed the time, the second hand pointing to 12 o'clock. Countless small lights around it lit up, like a wildfire. In the blink of an eye, all the small lights wrapped around the trees, buildings and railings on both sides of the street lit up, and the whole world was dyed a deep blue.
All around him were cheers that never stopped, in a language that Su Xun couldn't understand, but the excitement in their voices was infectious.
The main venue was the central lawn of Tokyo Midtown, which was transformed into a "Garden of Starlight" with a universe theme. At this moment, 190,000 LED lights flashed in sync with the music, creating a spectacular three-dimensional sea of light.
"Want to take photos that others will envy?" Pei Ke looked down at Su Xun, who was immersed in the sea of light, his eyes filled with tenderness.
"Okay, hurry up and take the picture." Su Xun tugged at his sleeve.
"Okay, come with me." He took Su Xun's hand and led her through the crowds and past the dazzling lights.
He knew there was a building nearby with a rooftop offering a panoramic view of the area, where he could stand on the sea of blue lights and, with a wide-angle lens, capture stunning photos.
In an instant, another cheer erupted from the crowd, and countless bubbles floated above their heads, resembling stardust floating in the universe under the lights—a truly dreamlike sight.
Today I happened to catch a limited-time "bubble light show," where different sizes of soap bubbles were used as props, complementing the lights.
"It's too late." He wanted to capture this beautiful moment, so he suddenly sped up and disappeared into the crowd with his companions.
With the cold wind whistling in her ears, brushing against her cheeks, and tangling in her hair, Su Xun was enveloped by that large hand and ran forward without any worries, as if she were about to break through time and head towards the distant future.
