Chapter Six: Our Future

"Pu Xiaochuan, it's not as exaggerated as you say. You're making me a little scared." Tang Shi glared at Pu Xiaochuan, which made the other three laugh.

"Tang Shi, don't listen to Xiao Chuan's nonsense." Su Xun patted Tang Shi's hand.

"To be honest, junior high school courses are indeed much more difficult, and there are many times when it may be hard to adapt."

"Pei Ke, how did you know?"

"When I have free time, I sometimes look at some first-year junior high school textbooks."

"Wow! That's amazing!" the three exclaimed in unison.

Su Xunjia

"Xiao Xun, you'll be graduating in less than a year. Have you decided where you want to go?" Recently, the topic of conversation at home has been Su Xun's schooling. This is just the transition from primary to junior high school. There will be high school and college entrance exams later. Su Xun felt a headache coming on when she thought about it. What will things be like in three years?

Su Xun was a little annoyed. "I'll just go wherever I can get into. I don't know either."

"How could I not know? There's not much time left, you need to prepare early. I think No. 2 Middle School is pretty good." Su's mother frowned when she heard her daughter's indifferent reply.

ā€œI’m afraid it will be a problem for our child to get into No. 2 Middle School. I heard that you have to take an exam to get in,ā€ Mr. Su added.

"Then let's take her to try. If she can get into No. 2 Middle School, she can go directly to their high school section. I've also heard that the teaching quality there is quite good, and it will be easier for her to take the college entrance exam in the future."

"My sister is going to take the college entrance exam!" The younger brother, who had just started third grade, was very excited when he heard the word "college" and put down his toys.

"Your sister is still young, and going to university is a long way off. But you, have you finished your homework for today?" Su's mother asked her younger brother. She placed great importance on the grades of both her children, fearing their grades would slip.

Listening to them, Su Xun felt a surge of irritation and got up to clear the dishes.

"I'm done eating, I'm going to read now."

The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Su, were left looking astonished. "This child always eats so little, how will he grow tall?"

Back in his room, Su Xun opened his math textbook and stared at the cold, hard numbers, his thoughts drifting far, far away.

I'm only eleven years old and I already have to face so much pressure. What will happen to me in the future? Will I break down? What kind of person will I become? What kind of job will I have? Who will I live with?

Will I always be this introverted, making people uncomfortable? I wish I could be like those classmates who are the center of attention in class, and everyone likes them. I wish I could be more extroverted.

Night fell, and moonlight streamed through the window into the dark room, casting shadows on the girl's small face, her long eyelashes casting a wide rim beneath her eyes.

The moonlight and she contemplated their future together.
