Chapter Twenty: The Cat with Ruffled Hair

Pei Ke saw that Su Xun was hesitant to move, and assumed that she was afraid. He thought of how smug she looked when she made Chinese knots last time and wanted to make a few sarcastic remarks, but when he saw the girl's hesitant look, he chose to keep quiet.

"You go first, it's not that difficult. I'll watch you from behind." Her voice softened unconsciously.

"Let me tell you, I'm not dawdling here because I'm afraid to walk," Su Xun muttered softly, taking her first step.

Pei Ke guiltily touched his nose, realizing he had intended to insult someone. He then followed behind Su Xun, maintaining a distance of about the size of a wooden stake.

"Short legs."

!!

These three words instantly enraged Su Xun. Her height had always been a sore spot for her, and now that Pei Ke had pointed it out, she really wanted to throw him back into the field and bury him in the grass.

"Pei Ke!"

Seeing the person in front of her looking embarrassed and angry, Pei Ke felt even more pleased. She couldn't suppress the smile on her lips. She probably didn't know that she was just like a kitten at her grandmother's house, easily provoked by the slightest teasing.
