Chapter 53 Being Called to Parents' Office

The campus was quiet, with only two figures silhouetted against the moonlight on the path. Occasionally, a night breeze would blow, causing the girl's long hair to flutter.

Under the moonlight, the boy's eyes were so tender they seemed to drip with tears.

"We're here, you can go up now." Her voice was tinged with the coolness of the night, but it couldn't hide the thoughts fluttering in her eyes.

Su Xun looked up and realized that she had already arrived at the dormitory building.

"Then I'll be going now, you should go back soon too."

She stepped into the building, and just as she was about to enter, she felt the gaze of the person behind her. She turned around, and sure enough, the person was still there.

A feeling of peace welled up inside me.

He stood still and waved to her, signaling her to go inside quickly.

This time, Su Xun didn't look back and strode towards the dormitory.

"Which dorm are you from? Why are you only coming back now?" The dorm supervisor stood in the hallway with her room check book. "If you had come any later, I would have locked the doors."

Su Xun was so frightened that she almost slipped down the stairs; the dormitory supervisor's voice startled her.

"Auntie, I'm sorry, the teacher asked me to go to the office just now, so I was delayed." She smiled sweetly, her tone exceptionally soft.

She found herself able to concoct reasons so naturally to extricate herself from the situation.

After saying that, she felt a deep sense of guilt; she hadn't lied to her teacher before.

Seeing that this person had a good attitude and didn't seem like the type to cause trouble, the dormitory supervisor's tone softened unconsciously.

"Alright, you should come back earlier after evening self-study in the future. You were just lucky today, you happened to run into me when I came down to lock the door."

"I understand, I'll definitely be earlier next time."

He then quickly passed by the aunt and continued upstairs.

Lying in bed, the events of the day played back in my mind like a movie.

Today was quite an eventful day. First, I was called to the teacher's office during class, and then I was caught by the dormitory supervisor for coming home late.

And finally, she spoke her mind.

Classroom of Class 2 at noon

"Pei Ke, Su Xun, the teacher wants to see you in the office." The class representative, who had just returned from handing in his homework, relayed the homeroom teacher's message.

My heart skipped a beat; I had a bad feeling.

So much happened last night that she almost forgot about Teacher Li's suggestion to call her parents. Now that she remembered, a feeling of utter doom washed over her.

Her mother was never one to be easily persuaded; if she found out she had caused trouble at school, she would definitely give her a severe scolding.

She was filled with anxiety the whole way, her head down as she thought about how to explain things to her mother later.

"It's okay, don't worry," the person beside you whispered comfortingly.

I felt a little relieved.

During lunch break, the office was quite empty. All the teachers had gone back to their apartments for a rest. Only the grade director, Ms. Li, and the homeroom teacher, Ms. Liu, were there, along with two parents who were sitting in chairs, each holding a glass of water.

The two parents sat side by side. One had a calm expression, revealing no emotion; the other gripped a paper cup tightly with his fingers, his brow furrowed.

This was the scene that greeted them as soon as they stepped into the office.

"mom."

"Mother"

The two of them spoke at the same time, calling out.

"Xiao Ke, you've arrived." The woman, dressed in a tweed printed suit with a calm expression, stood up almost the moment she saw her son, somewhat excited.

His eyes swept over his son and the girl beside him, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

She knew her son had been in a bad mood at home for a long time. She wanted to talk to him but was always rejected. She even suspected that her son had been dumped at school, but she thought it was unlikely. With Xiao Ke's temper, how could any girl like him?

Last night around 10 PM, the head of the grade suddenly called her, saying that Xiao Ke was dating at school and that it was affecting her studies. She was so upset that she couldn't sleep all night. When she saw that girl today, her eyes lit up; she looked like the kind of well-behaved and obedient girl.

Noticing his mother's strange gaze, her eyes practically glued to Su Xun, he tugged at her clothes, trying to get her to behave.

"mom."

Pei's mother

Su Xun, on the other hand, was not having such an easy time.

As soon as she entered, she saw her mother's gloomy and unfriendly eyes, as if she was about to rush at her at any moment. She stood there, too afraid to move.

When Teacher Li saw that all the parties involved had arrived, she began to slowly explain why she had called them there.

"Thank you both for taking the time out of your busy schedules to come to the school. However, the situation is serious, and this is a crucial period for the children. It cannot be taken lightly."

"Yes, Teacher Li is absolutely right." Following Teacher Li's words, Mother Pei smiled gently and gracefully.

Su's mother glared at her daughter angrily but didn't say anything. Being called to school by the teacher made her feel extremely ashamed.

"Last night, these two children didn't study properly in class, and they even switched seats without permission and shared a pair of headphones. Their behavior was extremely bad." Teacher Li has already learned part of the situation from the homeroom teacher.

Upon hearing this, Pei's mother secretly pinched her son's arm.

Kid, you're something else, you even know how to be romantic.

Pei Ke could guess what his mother was thinking just by looking at her expression, and he felt quite helpless. Turning to look at Su Xun on the other side, Su Xun was too ashamed to look up after being scolded by the teacher, and the tips of her ears were bright red.

"You two tell me yourselves." He flicked his sleeve, refusing to speak further, clearly furious. These two were promising students the school was focusing on, and yet they had done something like this.

Seeing that the grade head was so angry and didn't restrain himself in front of the parents, Teacher Liu quickly came over and pulled Teacher Li aside, telling him to say less.
