On the second day after arriving at school, everyone in the dormitory was present.
Besides Wen Yanyan, the other two girls are named Zhou Qin and Liu Wei, each with their own unique characteristics.
Wen Yanyan is the most lively and energetic, and her long curly hair makes her look like a porcelain doll; Zhou Qin is a very gentle girl who speaks softly; Liu Wei is a seasoned anime and game enthusiast who speaks frankly and is also very cute.
The group quickly became acquainted in one afternoon, and then went to eat together at the most popular cafeteria at S University.
Even before the start of the semester, the class group had already thoroughly explored the school cafeteria and other fun places nearby, and the class tutor would often share pictures in the group.
So now everyone is heading straight to their destination to feast on the delicious food.
After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, Wen Yanyan wanted to take a stroll around the campus. Zhou Qin and Liu Wei were also in the mood, so they agreed to go for a walk to digest their food.
I got up early this morning with Wen Yanyan to queue for a physical exam at the school hospital. I was a little tired, so I declined. The other three looked regretful, but didn't say much.
Seeing Wen Yanyan's energetic state, she even wondered if there was something wrong with her.
When did my stamina become so poor? It must be because I wasted these past few months of summer vacation. I'll start arranging morning runs starting tomorrow.
She thought to herself.
The campus is also lively at night. To welcome the new students, all the teaching buildings are covered with lights, and the fountain outside the library has been refilled with fresh water, changing into various shapes.
The evening breeze wasn't as scorching as during the day; it was cool and refreshing, and felt very comfortable on my face.
Surrounded by excited and curious freshmen, as well as upperclassmen who had just returned to school and were preparing to have a big meal at the food street, Su Xun listened to the lively sounds around him and walked back to his dormitory alone.
She didn't know what to do when she got back, and the whole dorm was quiet, so she simply turned on her computer and typed for a while.
She had already finished outlining the novel she had conceived during the summer vacation. She had written dozens of chapters on and off during this period, all of which were in a document. She decided to start updating it online today.
After creating the novel, she copied two chapters, published them, and then closed the interface.
She always takes a laissez-faire approach, generally not actively promoting herself, not monitoring data every day, and just ensuring a certain number of words are updated daily, writing in a Buddhist-like manner.
This might make you feel more relaxed psychologically.
There was a rustling sound at the door, followed by the beeping sound of a campus card being swiped to open the door.
Several people were carrying a bunch of clothing items.
A panting sound came from the doorway. "Su Xun, Yang Fu and a few boys from your class just moved all the things you need for military training downstairs and messaged us to come down and get them ourselves. We've brought them back for you."
Su Xun then noticed Wen Yanyan walking at the back; her already small stature was almost swallowed up by the pile of things.
She quickly went over and took the pile of things from Wen Yanyan's hands. "Thank you for your help. I didn't check the messages in the group just now." She had been staring at the computer the whole time and hadn't seen the orange group messages on her phone.
The other person sighed with relief, "I'm exhausted. Living on the sixth floor is a real test of my physical strength."
"But I'm really not prepared for military training right after the start of the semester."
"I heard from the senior students that the sun is at its most intense during the days of military training every year. I wonder if it will rain this year."
"I bought a ton of sunscreen and stuff before I came to school, so I don't get too tanned."
...
Wen Yanyan started rambling on and on, and then she couldn't stop.
Su Xun replied to the notification from the support team in the group chat and was somewhat taken aback when he saw the message that they would meet at seven o'clock the next morning.
I didn't expect the day of military training to come so soon.
She thought back to the activities that could barely be called military training in her second year of junior high school, which seemed like so many years ago now. Back then, the morning exercises were a challenge for her every day; she had very poor stamina, so she was always at the back of the pack.
However, Pei Ke always seemed to be able to detect his own weakness, and when he sensed that something was wrong, he would run slowly alongside him from behind.
I didn't think too much about it back then, but looking back now, I realize that we already had such a great understanding of each other back then.
She recalled a quote she had once read: "At the time, it seemed so ordinary."
I used to always think that I shouldn't leave myself with regrets, and I didn't want to regret things many years later. But a few years later, I still have a lot of regrets left.
She had imagined that the two of them would grow up together, attend the same elementary, middle, and high school, stay together, witness each other's growth, and share the joy of each stage.
But I missed four of the most crucial years of the other person's life.
The stars filled the entire night sky, and the night grew quiet again.
The next day was a rare sunny day. When the golden sunlight reflected in the mirror on the balcony, Wen Yanyan, who had prayed all night for rain the next day, lay on the bed and grumbled at the ceiling.
"Yan Yan, you'd better get up quickly. Today is your first time meeting the instructor. It wouldn't be good if you got caught being late."
As Zhou Qin was slipping her feet into the stiff, army-green cloth shoes, she quietly reminded everyone that she had gotten up the earliest and was already dressed in the clothes that had been distributed yesterday.
Wearing a camouflage uniform, the usually delicate and gentle girl exudes a heroic air.
The person sitting on the bed with a sour face had no choice but to reluctantly climb off the bed and go outside to wash up.
A few people agreed to go out of the dormitory together for breakfast.
Su Xun got up quite early and had already tidied herself up. She sat at her desk, idly scrolling through the news.
