Su Xun went to the gymnasium and saw the tall figure standing at the glass door. She felt a little lonely and stopped two or three meters away from him, bent over, and gasped for breath.
My nose is red from inhaling so much cold air, my throat feels uncomfortable, and my lungs feel like they're about to explode.
Pei Ke spotted the figure running towards him from a distance, and then stopped in front of him.
His gaze fell on Su Xun's thin, light-colored sweater, and he frowned deeply before striding over.
"I have something to say to you." Before Pei Ke could speak, Su Xun uttered the words he had repeated countless times in his mind along the way.
Pei Ke ignored what she said, reached out and picked her up, and walked inside.
Knowing it's so cold outside, they still wear so little; they really are a worry.
He led the person through a maze of turns to a yoga room, which was open to the public, but few people came now that it was cold.
"Are you cold?" Although it was a question, it was definitely a statement of certainty. As he spoke, he took off his coat.
"I'm not cold, I'm not cold. Listen to me first." Su Xun reached out to stop Pei Ke from taking off his clothes, then sneezed. He quickly took out a tissue from his pocket, only to realize that he wasn't wearing a coat at all. He awkwardly put his hand down.
Pei Ke took a pack of tissues out of his pocket and handed it over.
He glanced at Su Xun's face, which was red from the cold: "There's no rush to speak. Why didn't you say anything earlier?"
Finally, Su Xun put on the clothes Pei Ke handed her, and her body finally warmed up.
Pei Ke waited until the person obediently put on their clothes before slowly saying, "You can begin now."
Su Xun decided to start with this recent incident, since it was the trigger that made Pei Ke angry with her.
She sat on the yoga mat spread out on the ground. The boy's jacket was too loose, completely covering her petite body. She looked in the direction where Pei Ke was standing and recounted the whole story in detail.
After recounting this absurd story in just a few minutes, Su Xun cautiously looked up to glance at Pei Ke's reaction.
Pei Ke leaned casually against the barre, lost in thought, his dark eyes unfathomable.
"Who is this Uncle He you're talking about?"
Alright, Pei Ke did notice this, but since she had already decided to be honest with him, Su Xun reorganized her thoughts and slowly recounted the events of the past few years and how He Chengzheng had helped her family.
Her tone was calm, as if she were telling a story unrelated to her.
One side of the yoga room is not a wall, but a floor-to-ceiling transparent glass panel, through which you can clearly see the bare tree branches outside swaying in the wind and shivering in the cold.
Inside, however, all was calm, as if time had stood still. The girl's sweet voice echoed through the space, pausing occasionally to glance at the boy's expression.
Pei Ke did not offer any opinion while Su Xun was speaking, but listened quietly, though his taut jawline subtly hinted at the turmoil within him.
His girl had endured so much that she shouldn't have to at her age, without his knowledge.
The family underwent a major upheaval, and she and her mother endured all the hardships together. In order not to implicate those around them, she chose to distance herself from all familiar relationships and wander from place to place.
He knew nothing of this and even secretly resented her for leaving without saying goodbye.
In his memory, Su Xun was a very fragile and timid girl who would secretly shed tears because she failed an exam, and would blush because of a bold remark from someone. The changes in her seemed unbelievable to him; both her appearance and personality were completely different from before. Was she forced into this state?
Her broken life forced her to become stronger. Should he be proud of his girl or feel sorry for her?
Both are true.
His heart felt as if it were being gripped by a tremendous force, the intense pressure making it hard for him to breathe, a bitter taste rising to his throat, preventing him from calmly uttering a complete sentence.
