Chapter 68 The Skeleton Rabbit Crisis: Falling into the Great Rift

Chapter 68 The Skeleton Rabbit Crisis: Falling into the Great Rift

The magical artifact that Meng Yikang purchased not only saved his life at the time, but also transmitted the image of his death to his fellow disciple who was holding the same artifact at the moment of his death.

"People from the Immortal Firmament Sect killed people from the Yuancang Sect?"

"No way, is the first day of the secret realm this exciting?"

"You're all focused on the Immortal Cloud Sect killing the Yuan Cang Sect members, but am I the only one who noticed their magical artifact? It can even transmit death messages to its companions. Such a powerful artifact must be incredibly expensive. The Yuan Cang Sect is truly wealthy and powerful."

"The Yuancang Sect members have all left. What are we going to do? Should we continue?"

"Of course we'll keep going. Otherwise, waiting for them to come back here? It's obvious that's impossible. Let's stick to the original plan."

A group of cultivators traveling with several disciples of the Yuancang Sect were discussing amongst themselves. Some were curious about the gossip between the two sects, while others were worried about the rest of their journey. In any case, the fact remained that they had been abandoned by the disciples of the Yuancang Sect.

The territory of the Bone-Eating Rabbit.

Seeing that Li Fu was standing there like a fool, Song Yin chose to ignore him and turned to look for the Divine Soul Grass.

If I could find a hundred or two hundred of them, I'd be rich!

"Yinyin, look at this plant. I'm not sure of its age, come and see." Shi Heming parted the tall grass, revealing tender green leaves with water droplets.

Song Yin slowly squatted down. "This plant is definitely over a hundred years old; it's a thousand-year-old Divine Soul Grass." She carefully parted the weeds, clearing away the surrounding vegetation before cautiously digging out the thousand-year-old Divine Soul Grass. An ordinary wooden box is no longer suitable for it; a jade box is needed to hold it.

"Well done, I'll give you half of the pills I refine later."

Upon receiving the praise, Shi Heming rolled up his sleeves, full of energy: "I'll keep looking for you."

Li Fu was still pondering how Song Yin would unleash her sword strike. Song Yin couldn't stand it any longer and snapped her fingers to snap him out of his daze: "Stop daydreaming! Quickly find some more Divine Soul Grass and stock up on it, so you won't be short of it when you need it later."

"Ah? Oh, you're right." Li Fu looked around, then bent down to continue searching for the Divine Soul Grass.

As they searched, the three of them gradually ventured deeper into the territory of the Bone-Eating Rabbit.

Song Yin found many Divine Soul Grasses along the way, and her eyes lit up with excitement every time she picked one.

The feeling of reaping the rewards is quite wonderful.

Driven by their gambling mentality, the three continued deeper into the area, just in case the Skeleton Rabbit didn't notice them. What if they found a few more Divine Soul Grasses?

They concealed their aura to the extreme, even brushing past two Golden Core stage Devouring Rabbits.

The enormous carnivorous rabbit stopped hopping, twitched its nose to look around, and hopped away again after confirming there was nothing amiss. Even after the carnivorous rabbit left, the three people crouching in the deep grass dared not breathe.

Li Fu dared not make a sound, slowly raised his arm, and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

Song Yin nudged Shi Heming next to her with her finger, indicating the left direction.

The Skeleton Rabbit passed by, trampling down a patch of grass, which revealed another Divine Soul Grass.

Before Song Yin could go and pick them, the skeletal rabbit that had just left returned.

At the same time, the entire horde of carnivorous rabbits became agitated and all headed in one direction. Then, a tremendous sound erupted from ahead, followed by the whistling of weapons cutting through the air.

Song Yin: "Oh no, someone has disturbed the group of Skeleton Rabbits. We need to retreat."

The Divine Soul Grass is precious, but life is even more precious.

Li Fu said anxiously, "If we use spiritual energy to fly away now, it will also alert the Skeleton Rabbits around us. What should we do?" As soon as he finished speaking, he looked back and saw that Song Yin and Shi Heming had already crouched down and walked two or three meters away in the grass.

Li Fu: ...

He chose to keep quiet and followed the two.

After walking for about half an hour, Song Yin and Shi Heming stopped.

Li Fu asked from behind, "Why did you stop?"

Shi Heming: "The huge crack ahead is bottomless. If you're so capable, then you go ahead."

Li Fu was speechless.

The three were caught in a dilemma, but the commotion behind them was relentless.

"Even if it means death, I'll drag the people of the Immortal Cloud Sect down with me to avenge my brother Meng Yikang!" Meng Yikang's cousin, Meng Yiming, roared at his companion.

Li Fu looked at Song Yin and the others, squatted down in the grass and whispered, "You are also from the Immortal Firmament Sect, do you know what's going on?"

Song Yin looked guilty. She was the one who killed him, and now his brother was coming to seek revenge. It turned out that she was the culprit who caused the disturbance among the skeletal rabbits. But how could they know that she was the one who killed Meng Yikang, when there was clearly no one around at the time?

Could it be... Chen Yuanxiu? If it wasn't Chen Yuanxiu, she would have a hard time figuring out who else had tipped off this group of people.

Li Fu: "Judging from your expression, do you know the details?"

Upon hearing this, Shi Heming looked at Song Yin beside him.

Song Yin chuckled: "Is it possible that I killed him?"

Li Fu screamed silently, his mouth agape, "How could you kill someone on your very first day in the secret realm?!"

Recalling the damaged environment, Shi Heming frowned and affirmed, "So the signs of fighting around us back then were related to you."

Song Yin: "That bastard has a screw loose. He even attracted Nascent Soul and Golden Core stage demonic beasts. He escaped death, so why should I thank him instead of killing him?"

Shi Heming paused in his breath.

Li Fu gave a thumbs up, "To survive a strong enemy is impressive."

Song Yin: "Let's think about how to escape this disaster." Her gaze fell on the large crack, and a bold idea popped into her head. "How about we jump down?"

Shi Heming observed the large crack: "The situation below is unknown; it would be too dangerous to jump down rashly."

"Calm down!" Li Fu was so scared he almost jumped out of his skin. "Why don't we just hide here and wait for them to finish fighting and for the Bone-Eating Rabbits to calm down before we escape?"

"Alright." She wasn't a domineering person; she would listen to other people's opinions.

Li Fu felt much relieved, thinking that his life had been saved.

The magical attack suddenly landed at Li Fu's feet.

You're celebrating too soon!

Li Fu nearly fainted, kicking his legs wildly as he quickly retreated away from the danger zone, his buttocks covered in a mixture of mud and grass. He wasn't wearing his ceremonial robes, and the fabric was snagged by sharp stones, tearing his clothes below his buttocks with a "rip".

There's someone here!

"Two of them are wearing the robes of disciples of the Immortal Firmament Sect!"

"That woman is the murderer in the footage that came after Meng Yikang's death!"

"I knew she was here. Don't think you can escape the pursuit by hiding in the group of skeletal rabbits. Even if we are all wiped out today, I will make you pay for my brother's death!" Meng Yiming stopped fighting the skeletal rabbits and instead charged at Song Yin with his sword.

Meng Yikang is a magic cultivator, but Meng Yiming is a sword cultivator. The two are close in age, grew up together, and have a very good relationship.

Song Yin drew her sword and calmly observed that Meng Yiming had been injured in the fight with the Bone-Eating Rabbit, and although his sword moves were fierce, they were full of flaws.

Shi Heming's hands moved rapidly, forming hand seals. A paper talisman flew to the enemy's location on its own, while an array formed beneath his feet.

As Meng Yiming entered the array's range, his vision blurred, and he could no longer see any enemies; all he could see was a bamboo forest and a vast expanse of white mist.

He immediately realized that he had entered a formation, and a formation that created an illusion.

The same thing happened to the other members of the Yuancang Sect who entered the formation's range; none of them expected that there were formation cultivators among the opposing group.

The slower members of the group remained outside the array's range. Unable to attack at close range, they resorted to ranged attacks, their fingers constantly forming hand seals, attempting to use spells to strike the Immortal Firmament Sect members. However, the talismans were unaffected by the array, instead interrupting their spellcasting. With explosive talismans and other spells taking effect, they had no time to attend to the Immortal Firmament Sect members and could only focus on dealing with the endless stream of talismans.

In Song Yin's eyes, Meng Yiming suddenly stopped what he was doing, his eyes filled with confusion.

The skeletal rabbits noticed the three more people, and their mouths watered as they all rushed over.

Song Yin knew that the opportunity was too good to miss. With a light step, she rushed out like a whirlwind, appearing behind Meng Yiming like a ghost and piercing his heart with a single sword strike.

The small gourd flew out, and in just one second, it brought the two brothers' souls together within it.

He then dealt with the other two trapped by the formation, and their souls were also collected into the small gourd. In less than two minutes, the three members of the Yuan Cang Sect were dead, leaving only four people outside the formation fighting against the talismans.

Song Yin rushed towards the four to eliminate them completely, but Shi Heming controlled the talisman to prevent her from being accidentally injured.

Song Yin moved nimbly among the four, with Fu Lu assisting her. Yuan Cangzong and the other three understood that it was better to kill Song Yin first than to fight Fu Lu.

But Song Yin wouldn't give them a chance. They were all at the Foundation Establishment stage. She, Song Yin, could even kill a Golden Core stage evil cultivator, so how could she not kill four Foundation Establishment cultivators?

Faced with Song Yin's chilling swordsmanship, the four of them, even working together, were overwhelmed and powerless to resist. Three of them were sword cultivators, and one was a sound cultivator; all of them were rendered helpless by Song Yin.

Yin Xiu was adept at using sound to control attacks, and Song Yin immediately cut Yin Xiu's flute in half.

Yin Xiu held the disciple who had been cut in half, shocked and heartbroken. A fourth-tier magic weapon could be cut so easily. Just what tier was her sword?

A sword was about to pierce Song Yin from behind, but before the immobilization talisman could be cast, Song Yin turned her head and stabbed the opponent with her backhand.

The spirit sword was drawn, its crimson blood trailing in a perfect arc through the air.

"Spare me, my lord, spare me!" His face was wet and hot, and Yin Xiu was the first to surrender. "I was bewitched, please spare my life."

"Wang Jin, you spineless coward, you are not allowed to surrender to the Immortal Cloud Sect!"

Yin Xiu turned and ran away, saying, "My relationship with Meng Yikang is so-so, it's not worth risking my life for him!"

But will he be able to escape successfully?

Of course not. He was hit by another person's attack halfway through his escape and died instantly. He couldn't understand why someone was lying in ambush there.

The commotion of several skeleton-eating rabbits alerted the Nascent Soul Skeleton-eating Rabbit, which appeared on the battlefield by smell. Instead of attacking Song Yin and the others, it confronted another group of people.

That's right, another group of people flew in here.

Five people were running away in front, and six were chasing behind. Upon closer inspection, they were all found to be at the Golden Core stage.

The Nascent Soul stage Skeleton Rabbit naturally prefers food with higher cultivation levels, and immediately confronted the new group of people.

Song Yin sensed the commotion nearby, her eyes narrowed sharply, and she quickened her attack, killing the remaining three in quick succession. She didn't even have time to collect their souls before turning and flying towards Shi Heming and the others.

"Run!"

During the chase, one of the six members raised his hand and attacked the three who were trying to escape.

Song Yin and the others were hit as soon as they took off and fell out of control into the great crevice.

Qu Ruoxuan, who was being chased, naturally saw that someone had been affected by this group of lunatics, and she was furious and went to fight back.

The cultivator protecting Qu Ruoxuan blocked the attacks from the Skeleton Rabbit and the pursuers, saying, "Miss, let's leave quickly; this place is not safe to stay any longer."

"Trying to run? No way!"

Qu Ruoxuan turned around, gritted her teeth and tore the speed-up talisman to shreds, and traveled through the territory of the Skeleton Rabbit with the others.

The commotion was too loud and woke up the other Nascent Soul stage Devouring Rabbits, who attacked the flying people without hesitation.

One of the cultivators protecting Qu Ruoxuan stopped. "Quickly, take the young lady and escape! I'll hold them off!!"

"He's going to self-destruct! Get out of the way!"

Qu Ruoxuan continued flying forward, tears blurring her vision as she heard the explosion.

The three people, including Song Yin, used different methods to stabilize themselves and stop falling further.

They eventually landed on a protruding platform, which connected to a small cave. The sound of their fall caused many pebbles to shake and fall, and the sound of pebbles hitting the bottom could not be heard for a long time.

Song Yin propped herself up with her sword and looked up at the sky. "Landing here means we won't be affected by the battle. Let's go into the cave first."

Author's Note: Song Yin: The cultivation world is still too bizarre. How exactly did Meng Yiming find out that I killed Meng Yikang?

Inside the small gourd:

Meng Yikang: Brother? What brings you here? [bursting into tears]

Meng Yiming: Brother, you were actually captured by her magic artifact too! [Cracks open]

Meng Yikang and Meng Yiming: Damn the Immortal Firmament Sect! Damn Song Yin! They even prey on souls! Those damned bastards are truly wicked! [Angry]

I've started a new Xianxia (fantasy/cultivation) novel for pre-order. It's about the female protagonist becoming an elder in a cultivation sect and the chaotic daily life of teaching her disciples. [Laughing] The synopsis isn't finished yet, though. I'll upload it when it's done, and I hope everyone will add it to their favorites and support me! [Let me see]
