Chapter 5 The Playboy Creditor's Promise (Revised)
The woman's face turned ashen; she confessed to identifying Chen Jun.
The two were quickly locked up and interrogated.
The rest was no longer Gu Yiliu's responsibility.
However, she didn't leave immediately. The black dog circled around her excitedly, and wouldn't leave anytime soon.
Wang Liping pulled her husband to Gu Yiliu, Lou Xiaohai's mother. "Comrade Gu, we're so glad you were here this time. Xiaohai's father and I would like to invite you to dinner." Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke. What did it matter if they were acquaintances? He was a vicious wolf. If it weren't for Gu Yiliu, their child would have been sold, and they might still be helping Chen Jun count the money.
She turned to look at her husband, signaling him to make a statement.
Lou Chaohua looked embarrassed. He glanced at Gu Yiliu and said, "Comrade Gu, we'd like to invite you to dinner." He paused, then looked at the people behind Gu Yiliu. "Of course, we also have to thank Officer Zeng and Officer Han. Thanks to you both."
Gu Yiliu smiled and shook his head, "Xiao Hai's mom, no need, I have to catch the bus. It's good that Xiao Hai is alright." After a pause, Gu Yiliu looked down at the black dog at his feet, "You can treat this dog to a good meal."
The black dog wagged its tail vigorously, held its head high, and whimpered. Gu Yiliu heard it excitedly pleading with her, "Thank you, Officer Gu, you're so kind~ I wish I could be your dog~"
"This is what a dog should do. I've raised it for so many years, and it couldn't protect Xiao Hai. I've raised it for nothing."
As soon as Lou Chaohua spoke, the black dog's whining stopped. Its dark eyes glanced at its male owner, revealing sadness and hurt, and its raised tail slowly drooped down.
Gu Yiliu frowned. She looked at Wang Liping and saw that she also had an "that's true" expression. She swallowed back the words she was about to say. She looked at Xiao Hai, patted his head, and asked him, "What's your dog's name?"
"Big Black".
Who named it?
Xiao Hai glanced at Da Hei and said, "Grandma named him Da Hei, and Grandma also raised him, but Grandma has passed away."
After listening to its young master's words, Dahei's eyes revealed a look of nostalgia. Its true owner was the young master's grandmother. When the grandmother was alive, she would always share her food with Dahei. Dahei would chew up her needlework and chase her chickens, but she would never hit it.
Gu Yiliu understood. "Are you scared this time?"
Xiao Hai nodded and whispered, "I'm scared."
"Big Black saved you this time, so you have to treat it well, okay?"
Xiao Hai nodded, "I know, Dahei has always been with me." He paused, then looked into Gu Yiliu's eyes and added, "I've been good to it, and thank you for saving me, sister."
Big Black wagged its tail at its young master. Although Lou Chaohua and his wife weren't particularly kind to it, they still gave it food, and Xiao Hai was indeed good to it.
"Officer Gu, thank you, but I still want to be Xiao Hai's dog." Da Hei brushed Gu Yi Liu's leg with its tail.
At the same time, Gu Yiliu heard Dian Dian's voice, "Host, the approval rating has increased by 2%, and it's now at 8%. Black Dog and Lou Xiaohai each contributed 1%."
Gu Yiliu was taken aback and couldn't help but look at Lou Chaohua and Wang Liping across from him.
When they met her gaze, both of them looked embarrassed and guilty. "Officer Gu, it's lunchtime, about dinner..."
Gu Yiliu frowned slightly. She didn't want to eat the meal they were offering, but she had helped the Lou family, so she couldn't let it go unrewarded. Since they really wanted to treat her, she said, "Let's skip the meal. If you really want to treat me, you can use the money for the meal to buy some chicken and duck feed for me. Remember to treat Dahei well too."
There are chickens and ducks at the outpost, so it's still necessary to buy feed.
"Feed?" The couple looked puzzled, but seeing Gu Yiliu's serious expression, Wang Liping quickly agreed, "Sure, sure! We'll go buy some, and we'll treat Dahei to a meal too."
Before leaving, Wang Liping looked at Han Yi, who had been silent behind Gu Yiliu, and explained, "Officer Han, after we're done with this, it'll just be you and us..."
"No need, it's my duty." Han Yi's words cut off Wang Liping's next words.
Wang Liping looked embarrassed and left with her husband and son to buy animal feed.
Gu Yiliu wasn't worried about them not returning, after all, the matter was still being dealt with. She walked over and sat down.
Then he asked Dian Dian, "Don't you have any good reviews for Lou Chaohua and his wife?"
Dian Dian: "Yes, but their positive reviews weren't pure enough. When the system tallied them up, the positive reviews for these two people were completely ignored."
"Not pure enough? Why is that?"
Dian Dian explained: "Because their gratitude and appreciation are entirely due to the fact that Lou Xiaohai was not sold and is safe. Moreover, they are clearly more grateful to their ancestors. They are now thanking their ancestors for protecting you when their son was abducted."
"..."
I see.
"Sincerity is indeed very deceitful." Gu Yiliu snorted. In the apocalypse, sincerity is even more precious. It's not easy to completely trust even teammates.
Dian Dian agreed, "Yes, small animals are the purest. Their world is only about survival. But if a human suddenly appears who can help them without caring about anything, talk to them, understand them, and acknowledge their existence, they will completely trust and depend on you."
"Humans are nice, and I can gain their favor, but it's hard to gain their true feelings. If that's the case, it will be difficult for DianDian to level up." DianDian was a little sad and melancholy.
Gu Yiliu didn't say anything. Helping an animal and getting a 1% increase in positive reviews wasn't actually that fast.
The health bar needs to be full to help hundreds of small animals.
Gu Yiliu wasn't in a hurry, since the system could only live if she lived.
Dian Dian said pitifully, "Host, Dian Dian is very pitiful..." Gu Yiliu snorted softly, telling it not to play the pitiful card.
Even if the system is weak, it's still stronger than a human being like her.
"Gu Yiliu..."
Han Yi's voice rang out, and Gu Yiliu turned his head.
The handsome policeman's face alone is irresistible; he's a feast for the eyes.
Gu Yiliu liked good-looking people, so she asked with a smile, "What's wrong?"
Han Yi paused for a moment when he saw the unfamiliar expression on Gu Yiliu's face, then walked over and sat down on the sofa opposite her.
Gu Yiliu sat up and looked up at his movements until he heard him ask a question.
"You were also assigned to Dongshan County? Which unit?"
Gu Yiliu was stunned. What did "also" mean?
"You know me?" She looked at the handsome policeman in front of her, certain she didn't recognize him. "I have no recollection of you."
Han Yi's expression froze for a moment, then he gently clenched his long, slender hand into a fist, then released it and tapped it lightly on his side, for reasons unknown.
He spoke softly, his gaze fixed on her face, scrutinizing every expression, "Do you remember the graduation banquet?"
"What?" Gu Yiliu's eyes widened. The words "graduation banquet" stunned her. She was shocked and looked at Han Yi's handsome face. She inexplicably felt that she had a romantic entanglement with him.
She arrived on the day of her graduation assignment. The graduation banquet should have been held before the job assignments.
So how could she remember the graduation banquet?! It's not her memory!
Gu Yiliu's expression kept changing. Looking at Han Yi's face again, he no longer thought he was handsome. Looking at him was like looking at a troublesome person. "What happened at the graduation banquet?"
Han Yi twitched the corner of his mouth, his face showing an expression that said, "You actually forgot!"
Gu Yiliu was devastated; she wasn't the original owner of this body.
She could hear the sarcasm in his tone. She clicked her tongue softly.
"Judging from your expression, it's like I've wronged you. Did I sleep with you at the graduation party?"
Her words were just said in anger.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, Han Yi immediately looked at her with a frank expression.
Gu Yiliu felt as if she had been pricked by a needle in her buttocks and immediately jumped up, wanting to say how could this be.
But she forcefully swallowed it back.
She stared at him, her silence speaking volumes.
Seeing her utterly shocked expression, Han Yi finally confirmed one fact: "You really don't remember?"
"I don't remember." Gu Yiliu frowned. "Anyway, it's none of my business."
She looked around. This was still the reception hall of the police station. Although it was after closing time, she still remembered that Lou Chaohua and his wife would come back.
"Let's leave it at that." She sat down again, arms crossed, brows furrowed, and quickly ended the conversation. "Even so... it's not a big deal."
Han Yi pursed his lips and didn't say anything, but he was actually very unhappy.
The two sat facing each other in silence, with undercurrents swirling beneath the surface.
Not long after, Wang Liping and her family of three returned, and she handed the feed to Gu Yiliu.
Gu Yiliu took the feed and walked out.
As soon as she moved, Han Yi moved too.
Gu Yiliu paused for a moment, then quickened his pace.
Han Yi followed her for a while, and just as Gu Yiliu impatiently asked him if he didn't need to go back to help interrogate the human traffickers, he finally spoke.
Han Yi: "Drink less alcohol in the future." Gu Yiliu listened silently. He guessed that she had been drinking that day.
"And," he added, "you didn't sleep with me that day." Han Yi looked at Gu Yiliu with red ears.
"...?"
Gu Yiliu stared at him for a while. They didn't sleep together, but something must have happened, otherwise Han Yi wouldn't have reacted like that just now.
She looked up at the sky awkwardly for a while.
She looked at him again, now with a strong desire to know, "What did I do to you that day?"
Upon hearing this, Han Yi pursed his lips, his gaze following her moist lips.
Gu Yiliu followed his gaze.
Then I looked at him abruptly and asked, "Are you sure?"
Han Yi hummed in agreement. "You kissed me forcefully, and after the kiss you kept hugging me. You smelled strongly of alcohol at the time."
"You should have sobered up by the next day, right? You didn't come looking for me?" Gu Yiliu asked.
“The next day, I was assigned a job. I wanted to go find you, but you had already left the school.” Gu Yiliu’s eyes widened.
According to Han Yi, the original owner of this body got drunk and passed out on the day of the graduation banquet, and then she arrived? Her arrival and the original owner's death were only one night apart?!
"Dian Dian! Is this what I think?" Gu Yiliu urgently sought confirmation from the system.
After waiting for a long time, the system finally spoke, its tone hesitant and conflicted, but Gu Yiliu didn't understand.
"...Just as the host guessed."
Han Yi lowered his eyes, looking at the girl who was lost in thought, seemingly oblivious to what she was thinking. He wanted to go find her, partly because his friends had egged him on, and partly because he felt he had gotten the better deal between them, so he was afraid she might do something rash. But when he went to look for her, she had already left the school.
He spoke again, his tone solemn, "If you ever need anything, just let me know, and I'll do my best to help." This was his promise.
A note from the author:

Don't misunderstand [poor face] The original owner is the female lead, and the female lead is the original owner. It's all the system's fault!
