Chapter 12 Chapter 12 If you don't go, I won't leave.
Gu Shiyue stared silently at the bowl of birthday noodles.
"I just found out it's your birthday today, so I just made a simple bowl of noodles," Jiang Luo said. "It's your birthday, so you have to eat noodles. But it might not taste very good; I'm not a very good cook."
Gu Shiyue asked, "Did you carve the carrot?"
“Yeah.” Jiang Luo smiled. “How is it? It looks pretty good, right? I spent a long time on it. By the way, senior, I need to tell you that I used up three carrots from the fridge to carve this.”
Jiang Luo tugged at her earlobe, a little embarrassed: "We didn't need that many, but my technique isn't very good, so I wasted two."
Gu Shiyue said, "It's nothing."
Jiang Luo looked at him with a smile: "I didn't throw away the scraps, I packed them up and put them in the refrigerator. We can use them to make cat food for Cotton. What do you think?"
Gu Shiyue nodded and said, "Okay."
The carrots in the refrigerator were originally meant for Mian Tuan, as Gu Shiyue himself dislikes eating carrots.
Upon hearing its name called, Cotton jumped onto the sofa, snuggled into Gu Shiyue's arms, and settled down firmly. Gu Shiyue looked down at it: "Get down."
The old fat cat has no concept of its own weight; it just wants to stick to the surface. What's wrong with that?
Cotton Ball was very obedient; as soon as Gu Shiyue gave the command, it got up and lay down somewhere else. It seemed to have gotten used to Gu Shiyue's indifference, lying there slowly licking its paws and washing its face.
Jiang Luo almost laughed: "Senior, you're too cold to the kitten."
Gu Shiyue glanced at the cotton ball: "Its size doesn't qualify it as a kitten."
Jiang Luo laughed out loud.
Jiang Luo took the medicine and water from the coffee table and handed them to Gu Shiyue: "Take your medicine first."
Gu Shiyue took the fever reducer, and Jiang Luo said, "I also cooked some porridge. You can have some if you don't have an appetite."
Gu Shiyue hummed in agreement, then took a bite of noodles. Although Jiang Luo had low expectations for her cooking, she still held her breath and stared at Gu Shiyue expectantly, asking, "How does it taste?"
Gu Shiyue glanced at him: "Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?"
Jiang Luo laughed, picking at his knee with his fingers: "What you're saying is no different from telling the truth."
Undeterred, he asked, "Is it really not tasty?"
Gu Shiyue nodded.
Jiang Luo was heartbroken: "Then you can have the porridge. It'll definitely be fine. I'll go get you a bowl."
"No need," Gu Shiyue said. "This is fine."
"No, if it tastes bad, I won't eat it."
"It's not so bad that you can't eat it."
"Alright then." Jiang Luo smiled, feeling inexplicably touched. Apart from his younger brother, who seemed to have a problem with his sense of taste, no one else had ever been so willing to eat his cooking.
Jiang's romanticized view of Gu is growing.
Jiang Luo said to Gu Shiyue, "Senior, why don't you go to the hospital for an IV drip later? It'll help you recover faster."
Gu Shiyue said, "I'm not going."
"Let's go."
"I said I wasn't going."
Jiang Luo sighed. He couldn't force Gu Shiyue to go if he didn't want to. He asked Gu Shiyue, "Has Miantuan not gone for its walk yet? You eat first, I'll take it for a walk first?"
"Um."
Jiang Luo instructed, "After you finish eating, put the bowl here and go back to your room to rest. I'll clean up in a bit. Remember to also take a cold towel to cool down, preferably apply it to the major artery."
Gu Shiyue nodded.
After Jiang Luo left, Gu Shiyue picked up a slice of carrot from the noodles and took a small bite.
He hated the smell of carrots, but he still finished the noodles and carrots in the end.
When Jiang Luo returned from walking the cat, the living room was empty. The coffee table was spotless, and the light was still on. Jiang Luo assumed Gu Shiyue had gone to his room to rest, but then she noticed the bathroom light was on, and the frosted glass door was covered with a layer of white mist.
With a click, the bathroom door was opened from the inside.
Gu Shiyue walked out wearing a black robe with dark patterns, his hair still wet.
Jiang Luo stood there, eyes wide open, staring blankly at him.
In the misty haze, Gu Shiyue's gaze naturally swept over.
Jiang Luo opened his mouth, a little helplessly: "Why are you taking a shower, senior? It's easier to catch a cold if you shower now..."
"I smell bad," Gu Shiyue said. "It's uncomfortable."
"Just bear with it for a bit. What if taking a shower when you have a fever makes it even worse?" Jiang Luo glanced at his half-damp hair and frowned slightly. "You didn't even dry your hair."
"Let's dry your hair first, senior." Jiang Luo was really afraid that Gu Shiyue's fever would get worse. He was really afraid that the people around him would get sick.
Gu Shiyue walked towards the bedroom: "Wait a minute."
"Don't wait any longer." Jiang Luo walked straight towards him, blocking his way, her attitude suddenly hardening. "Right now."
Gu Shiyue looked down at the boy in front of her.
Jiang Luo was so focused on Gu Shiyue's illness that he didn't realize that at this moment, the boundaries between him and Gu Shiyue were almost broken.
She just finished showering and was still wearing her bathrobe. This is the most private situation imaginable.
If it were someone else he had just met, Jiang Luo would have already left the house in this situation. He wouldn't have gone up to them like this and asked them to dry their hair.
"Go blow-dry it now, it's just making things worse with your hair wet." Jiang Luo looked up at him. "Go ahead, senior."
He speaks in a coaxing tone, and it's always pleasant to listen to him.
Gu Shiyue, who seemed to have developed a rebellious streak, deliberately provoked him: "What if I don't go?"
Jiang Luo knew he was joking, so she pursed her lips and stared straight at him: "If you don't go, I won't leave. I'll stay here and keep watching you until you go."
"Then you don't need to leave." Gu Shiyue pretended to walk towards the bedroom.
Jiang Luo couldn't help but laugh, and stretched out her arm to stop him: "Hey senior, stop messing around, please go quickly, I'll wait for you here, go quickly."
Gu Shiyue stopped teasing him and asked, "What are you waiting for me for?"
"Wait until you're done drying your hair." Jiang Luo put her hands on her hips. "I want to see for myself that you've dried your hair, gone back to your room, and lay down before I leave."
Gu Shiyue went to blow-dry his hair, while Jiang Luo waited outside and played with Mian Tuan for a while.
A few minutes later, Gu Shiyue came out of the bathroom, sporting a head of fluffy, jet-black hair. His hair color was as dark as his pupils, very deep.
"That's more like it." Jiang Luo smiled. "Then I'm leaving, senior. Take good care of yourself and remember to apply a cold compress to lower your fever."
Jiang Luo suddenly remembered something and added, "If you feel cold later, you need to keep warm and cover yourself well with a blanket, but don't cover yourself too tightly. In short, keep warm when you're cold, cool down when you're hot, and drink plenty of water."
"Didn't you want to make sure I went back to my room and lay down before you left?" Gu Shiyue said as he walked towards the bedroom.
Jiang Luo was about to leave when she heard the sound and turned around: "Hmm?"
Gu Shiyue stood at the doorway, his hand on the doorknob, looking at Jiang Luo: "I haven't even gone back to my room yet, and you're already confirming it?"
Jiang Luo blinked, his expression a little stunned. But he quickly recovered, smiled, and before he could speak, he heard Gu Shiyue say, "Come here."
Jiang Luo was taken aback: "Huh?"
Gu Shiyue was really into teasing people today. He looked at Jiang Luo and said, "Come over here to confirm."
Jiang Luo said that, but he couldn't actually go over to check if Gu Shiyue was in bed. He and Gu Shiyue weren't close enough for him to just walk into someone's bedroom. He smiled and said, "I can check from here. You go in, I'll keep an eye on things."
"I want you to come over here," Gu Shiyue said.
His tone was calm, yet carried an undeniable air of authority. Jiang Luo wasn't the type to give in easily; whether he was gentle or not depended on the person. Because he had a very strong positive impression of this Senior Gu, he was quite obedient and submissive in front of him.
Whatever the senior says goes.
"Okay then." Jiang Luo nodded and obediently walked over.
Jiang Luo was a little confused, unsure of Gu Shiyue's intentions. He wondered if his previous actions had been too serious and overstepped his bounds, leading Gu Shiyue to retaliate in kind.
Jiang Luo stopped two steps away from the bedroom door.
Gu Shiyue asked him, "Can you see it from where you're standing?"
Jiang Luo took another half step forward and whispered, "You're not going to make me go in to confirm again, are you?"
Gu Shiyue pushed open the door: "You can come in if you want."
Jiang Luo stared longingly at his retreating figure: "Senior, are you deliberately trying to mess with me?"
Gu Shiyue turned around and glanced at him.
"Did I piss you off by being too serious?" Jiang Luo blinked and asked with a smile.
"Your imagination is too rich," Gu Shiyue commented before pushing the door open and going in, leaving the door open for Jiang Luo to check and confirm.
Gu Shiyue also felt that he was acting a bit strangely today; perhaps the fever had made him act abnormally. It's undeniable, though, that he did somewhat enjoy the feeling of being the center of attention.
Just like the moment I opened my eyes while lying on the sofa, there were those familiar eyes in front of me.
Those eyes gazed at him gently and with concern.
Now that he's looking away, perhaps subconsciously he wants to hold onto those eyes.
There was a water dispenser with a constant temperature in the room. Gu Shiyue poured himself a glass of water, took a sip, and stood by the bed, looking at the door. The door was half open, and Jiang Luo didn't come forward; he remained standing there, half of his figure obscured behind the door frame.
Although Jiang Luo was outside the door, he didn't look into the house, feeling that this was a bit of a breach of boundaries.
Gu Shiyue didn't say anything. After finishing his water, he went to bed and lay down, leaving Jiang Luo standing alone at the door, bewildered.
His gaze remained fixed on the doorway, and Jiang Luo didn't take a single step forward. He smiled from outside the door and said, "Senior, you must be trying to punish me. I feel like I'm in jail."
"Can I escape from prison?" Jiang Luo asked rather abruptly.
Gu Shiyue replied, "Okay."
Jiang Luo still didn't understand the meaning behind Gu Shiyue's series of actions, and just felt that Gu Shiyue was probably joking with him. Not wanting to disturb Gu Shiyue's rest, he said, "I've confirmed it," and then lowered his head to close the door. It was as if there was something in the room that couldn't be looked at directly, and he didn't even glance inside.
Gu Shiyue sneered, thinking to himself, "What are you trying to confirm?"
