Chapter 24 I see you're in a hurry.
Gu Shiyue didn't speak, nor did he let go of her hand. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Jiang Luo lowered his eyes, not knowing why, and didn't dare to meet Gu Shiyue's gaze. He stammered, "N-nothing, a little bigger is fine... I can wear it."
Jiang Luo's ears were completely red. His skin was fair, so even the slightest change in complexion was very noticeable. The redness spread from the base of his ears to the back of his neck, and it was completely visible without his collar covering it.
Light footsteps sounded inside the room. Cotton Ball waddled in from outside, rubbing against the two people's legs and squeezing in between them. It stood between them, tilted its head back, and let out a sweet, coquettish cry.
The old cat separated the two people, breaking the delicate atmosphere.
Gu Shiyue looked down at him, and the cotton ball lay down on the ground, pressing firmly on Jiang Luo's instep, and raised its paw to lick it.
Jiang Luo took a step back, and Gu Shiyue released his hand. Returning to a normal social distance, Jiang Luo's stiff body finally relaxed, and he quickly rubbed his burning ear with his hand.
The atmosphere was rather strange, and Jiang Luo felt even stranger about himself, not knowing what he was panicking about. He quickly took off his coat, folded it casually, and placed it on the chair next to him. He said to Gu Shiyue, "Senior, I... I have to go tutoring right away. Um, I'll be going now."
After saying that, Jiang Luo turned and left.
"Have you eaten the cake?" Gu Shiyue asked him.
"No, no." Jiang Luo paused, "I was planning to take it back to eat."
"Okay, don't forget to take it."
Jiang Luo quickly went to the kitchen refrigerator to get the cake, and as soon as she closed the refrigerator door, she turned around and saw Shi Yue standing at the kitchen door.
"It's for you," Gu Shiyue said.
Jiang Luo quickly said, "No, no need! It's not far."
"Not in a hurry?"
"No rush," Jiang Luo shook his head.
Gu Shiyue crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame: "I can tell you're in a hurry."
"No...no," Jiang Luo's voice trailed off. "I just wanted to go a little earlier."
"Okay." Gu Shiyue nodded. "Go ahead."
Jiang Luo felt as if she had been granted a pardon. She quickly walked to the entrance, quickly put on her shoes, and quickly opened the door and went out.
Jiang Luo, feeling a rush of heat, took a deep breath after stepping outside. The elevator was right next to him; he walked over, pressed the button, and then stared blankly at the floor indicator lights on the wall.
With a "ding," the lights came on and the door opened, and Jiang Luo snapped back to reality.
Jiang Luo went back to school first, left the cake in his dorm, and then went to the student's house. He was tutoring a high school student, a boy who had just started high school. His family was very well-off, and he was a typical young master. The young master was the same age as Jiang Chen, and Jiang Luo always treated him with a bit of an older brother's mentality. However, he and Jiang Chen were completely different types of high school students. He was very outgoing and a chatterbox, sometimes talking so much that Jiang Luo couldn't keep up.
Jiang Luo glanced at his phone between doing his homework. He originally wanted to check the time, but instead he saw Gu Shiyue's WeChat message: When will the tutoring end?
During tutoring sessions, Jiang Luo usually doesn't touch his phone unless there are special circumstances, and he rarely does so when he has free time. Today, however, the situation seems to be different, and he quickly picked up his phone to reply to Gu Shiyue's message.
Jiang Luo: 9 o'clock
Gu Shiyue: Where do you tutor?
Jiang Luo: What's wrong?
Gu Shiyue: Positioning
Jiang Luo couldn't talk to Gu Shi for long, so she just sent him her location.
As soon as I put down my phone, the young master next to me spoke up: "Are you in a relationship, bro?"
Jiang Luo turned to look at him; the young master had a mischievous smirk on his lips.
"What kind of nonsense is going on in your head?" Jiang Luo chuckled. "Just focus on your problem."
"I'm working on it." The young master turned back to look at the next question. "Isn't this the first time I've seen you playing on your phone while tutoring me? It's kind of unusual."
"I'm just replying to a message."
"Reply to your girlfriend's message?"
"No." Jiang Luo gently poked his head with the cap of her pen. "Why are you so gossipy at such a young age?"
"It's only normal for young people to gossip. It's not normal for someone my age to gossip." The young master turned to look at him and asked with a smile, "Am I annoying?"
Jiang Luo exclaimed, "Ugh, annoying!"
The young master chuckled: "Isn't your brother annoying? We're all annoying at our age."
Jiang Luo had mentioned to him that he had a younger brother who was the same age as him. Jiang Luo said, "My brother isn't annoying; he's much more well-behaved than you."
The young master clicked his tongue, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Is he as handsome as me?"
The young master is quite handsome, otherwise he wouldn't have the confidence to ask this. Jiang Luo was amused by him: "It's hard to say."
"Just speak frankly."
Jiang Luo remained perfectly impartial: "They're both handsome, but not the same type of handsome."
"A master of balance." The young master twirled his pen, knowing that Jiang Luo was being modest. He could tell how handsome his brother was just by looking at his older brother's appearance. "Bring him here to show me next time."
"It's in my hometown, I can't bring it with me."
"It's just a matter of taking the high-speed rail."
"We'll talk about it another time." The topic had drifted off again, so Jiang Luo quickly brought it back on track. "Alright, alright, focus on your homework, my little darling."
The young master lives in a villa. After the tutoring session, as usual, he escorted Jiang Luo to the door. This was at his mother's request. The young master himself had a very good relationship with Jiang Luo and they had endless things to talk about. On the way to the door, he could chat about anything and everything.
Jiang Luo chuckled to himself, thinking that if he really met Jiang Chen, Jiang Chen, that quiet little devil, would be annoyed to death by this chatterbox.
The young master pressed a switch on the wall, and the automatic iron gate slowly opened. A car was parked not far from the gate. The moment the gate opened, a middle-aged man in a suit and tie stepped out of the passenger seat. He was tall and straight.
Jiang Luo watched as the man walked towards him, stopping two meters in front of him, and asked, "Excuse me, are you Mr. Jiang Luo?"
Jiang Luo nodded, somewhat bewildered.
The other person bowed slightly: "Hello, Mr. Jiang, I am the butler of Mr. Gu Shiyue's family, here to pick you up."
Jiang Luo was stunned: "Butler...butler? To pick me up?"
"Yes." The butler nodded slightly. "I'll take you back to school."
This is a high-end villa area with strict security. Outside vehicles cannot enter or leave freely unless they are homeowners who own property here.
The young master turned to look at Jiang Luo: "...Brother, you're not here to experience life, are you?"
Jiang Luo said, "...No."
The young master glanced at the butler, wary, and tugged at Jiang Luo, saying, "Wait, brother, don't go yet." He muttered under his breath, "Could it be a scam..."
The butler took out his phone and handed it to Jiang Luo with both hands, showing him his WeChat messages with Gu Shiyue to prove his identity. After that, the butler asked, "Mr. Jiang, do you have any other questions? Would you like me to make a call to Mr. Gu?"
Jiang Luo immediately shook her head: "No need."
"Okay." The butler put his phone away. "Then please get in the car."
The driver opened the car door for Jiang Luo, and Jiang Luo sat in the back seat, where she found three large shopping bags on the seat.
The butler got into the car and turned back to ask, "Mr. Jiang, are you going straight back to the school, or do you have somewhere else to go?"
Jiang Luoren was still confused: "...I'm going back to school."
“Okay.” The butler glanced at the shopping bags on the chair and said, “These are the outdoor sports equipment that Mr. Gu asked me to prepare for you.”
Jiang Luo was stunned for a moment.
"Please try it on when you get home to see if it fits. If it doesn't, you can contact me directly." The butler handed him a business card. "My contact information is on this."
"Can these... be returned?" Jiang Luo asked. "Could you please talk to Mr. Gu about this?"
"I'm sorry, we can't give you a refund," the butler said. "These were specially purchased in your size. Mr. Gu said that if you feel they don't fit, you can contact him directly."
Jiang Luo pursed her lips and had no choice but to accept the business card from the butler: "...Alright then. Thank you, thank you for your trouble."
The butler smiled slightly: "It's my pleasure."
The housekeeper's main purpose in coming was to deliver something to Jiang Luo and also to give him a ride back to school. After registering, the car drove directly into the school and dropped Jiang Luo off at his dormitory building.
The housekeeper got out of the car and offered to help Jiang Luo carry the shopping bags upstairs, but Jiang Luo quickly said, "No need, no need, I can carry them by myself."
The butler didn't argue with him, and bowed, saying, "Alright, I'll be going now. You can contact me directly if you need anything."
Jiang Luo also bowed slightly to him: "Thank you for your help."
"You're too kind, it's all I should do."
Jiang Luo carried large bags and small packages into the dormitory. Her roommate, whose bed was closest to the door, exclaimed, "Wow! You went to the mall? You bought so much stuff?"
Jiang Luo gave a vague "hmm" and walked to her seat with her shopping bag.
My roommate immediately noticed the logos on the shopping bags; they were all designer brands, high-end outdoor products, and not cheap.
My roommate exclaimed, "So extravagant, all big brands!"
Another person said, "Are you kidding? Our Luo Luo is a celebrity online, how could she not have this much money?"
Jiang Luo didn't know how to respond to this. Even if he had the money, he wouldn't be willing to buy these big brands. He saved all his money for Jiang Chen and was very stingy with himself.
Jiang Luo sat in a chair, holding her phone in both hands, her eyes fixed on the screen.
He hasn't messaged Gu Shiyue yet. He felt so awkward trying on clothes at Gu Shiyue's house and then leaving in such a hurry. He doesn't know what's wrong with him, and he still feels a little embarrassed.
Or rather, it wasn't embarrassment, but rather an indescribable sense of guilt.
Jiang Luo's mind was a jumbled mess of thoughts, impossible to unravel, when his phone suddenly vibrated, startling him.
Upon seeing the caller ID, Jiang Luo, holding her phone, sat up straight abruptly.
He tapped the screen and answered the phone: "Senior... Senior."
"Have you tried on the clothes?" Gu Shiyue asked on the other end of the phone.
"Not yet, I'll try it right away."
"Um."
"Well, senior... I'll hang up now."
"No need to hang it up," Gu Shiyue said. "Try it now, and let me know when you're done."
“…Okay.” Jiang Luo put his phone on the table, opened the shopping bag and looked inside. Inside was a complete set of outdoor sportswear, and in another bag were hiking boots.
Jiang Luo put on his clothes and shoes. Because his phone was still connected, looking at Gu Shiyue's name on the screen, Jiang Luo had a disorienting feeling that Gu Shiyue was right in front of him watching him change clothes.
The image of trying on clothes at Gu Shiyue's house flashed through Jiang Luo's mind, and her ears inexplicably turned red again as she changed. After changing, she reluctantly picked up her phone, put it to her ear, and spoke in a slightly hoarse voice: "Senior... I'm done changing."
"Hmm." Gu Shiyue leaned against the bed reading a book, his phone on speakerphone on the bedside table. He looked at the contents of the book and asked Jiang Luo, "Do the clothes and shoes fit?"
"Suitable...appropriate".
"What's wrong with your throat? Your voice is so hoarse."
Jiang Luo cleared her throat: "No...no."
"Really?" Gu Shiyue turned to the next page and said casually, "I'm not by your side right now, and I'm not even watching you. You feel uncomfortable trying on clothes?"
Jiang Luo was stunned for a moment, then lowered his head. He zipped his jacket all the way up, his nose touching the collar, his voice muffled inside the clothes: "I...I didn't...didn't..."
"No?" Gu Shiyue raised an eyebrow. "You've become a little stutterer."
