Chapter 29. Is it possible to do this in front of you? ...
The person who came in was Liang Siheng, Gu Shiyue's maternal uncle. The house that Gu Shiyue is currently living in belongs to his uncle, so he can come and go as he pleases, but this is only on the condition that Gu Shiyue is the only one at home.
This apartment was bought by Liang Siheng, but it's registered under Gu Shiyue's name. To put it bluntly, this apartment is for Gu Shiyue to live in. However, Gu Shiyue has never been in a relationship and has never brought any girls home, so Liang Siheng never tried to hide his presence here. He would just come in directly whenever he wanted.
He never expected that there would be another person in the house besides Gu Shiyue when he came today.
Liang Siheng didn't realize Jiang Luo was a boy. He glanced at Jiang Luo and thought to himself that his nephew had excellent taste.
Given Gu Shiyue's personality, he would never bring a girl to his home on his own initiative, so Liang Siheng directly assumed that Jiang Luo was not an ordinary friend.
Liang Siheng glanced at Gu Shiyue, then at Jiang Luo—look at his usually unapproachable nephew, dressed in casual clothes in front of strangers. Liang Siheng didn't believe he was a stranger.
Before the two younger men could speak, he asked Gu Shiyue, "Are you dating someone?"
Jiang Luo was stunned for two seconds before he reacted. He stood there motionless, too embarrassed to speak.
Gu Shiyue said, "Not yet."
These words seemed to have a double meaning, and Liang Siheng seemed to have also sensed a different implication. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and glance at Jiang Luo.
"When did you get back?" Gu Shiyue asked Liang Siheng.
"I replied yesterday."
Why didn't you tell me?
"I'm too busy to notify you."
Gu Shiyue introduced him to Jiang Luo: "My uncle, Liang Siheng."
Jiang Luo wanted to say hello but didn't know how to start. It was obvious that Uncle Gu Shiyue hadn't realized he was a boy, and it would be even more awkward if he suddenly spoke up.
"Jiang Luo," Gu Shiyue introduced to his uncle.
Jiang Luo had mentally prepared himself, but he still felt he should say hello, after all, this was Gu Shiyue's uncle. He opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Liang Siheng nodded at him and said with a smile, "I've come at the wrong time today."
There's no way around it; the meaning is quite clear. Gu Shiyue's uncle obviously misunderstood their relationship. Jiang Luo himself doesn't care, but he doesn't want to cause any trouble for Gu Shiyue because of this misunderstanding.
He quickly stood up and said to Liang Siheng, "You've misunderstood. Gu Shiyue and I are just ordinary friends. I'm his junior."
The clear, youthful voice startled Liang Siheng: "You..."
Jiang Luo replied frankly, "I'm a boy."
Liang Siheng raised an eyebrow, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
"Hello, Uncle." Jiang Luo greeted him politely.
Actually, Jiang Luo felt a bit awkward calling him "uncle" because Gu Shiyue's uncle looked too young, only in his early thirties.
Liang Siheng was experienced and young, and had seen it all. He was only surprised for a moment before quickly calming down. Moreover, his surprise was only because he hadn't realized Jiang Luo was a boy at first, not because Jiang Luo was dressed as a woman.
Liang Siheng wasn't too happy to hear Jiang Luo call him "uncle." He chuckled and said, "Am I that old? You're calling me uncle."
Jiang Luo made an "uh" sound, somewhat speechless. Gu Shiyue called him uncle, so he couldn't very well call him brother, or the generational order would be messed up.
"Then... how should I address you?" Jiang Luo asked softly.
Liang Siheng casually said, "Call me President Liang, or you can call me Uncle like Gu Shiyue does."
Liang Siheng is quick-witted and doesn't like to beat around the bush when he speaks or acts. Sometimes he's even a bit capricious, like now, where his words are becoming increasingly nonsensical.
Jiang Luo almost didn't know how to respond, but as long as he wasn't facing Gu Shiyue, he still had some room to maneuver. He solemnly changed his words: "Hello, President Liang."
Liang Siheng was amused by him: "You're quite funny."
Jiang Luo's mood was like a rollercoaster today. He couldn't stay here any longer. He turned to Gu Shiyue and said, "Senior, I have something to do... so I'll leave first. I won't bother you anymore."
Gu Shiyue didn't plan to let Jiang Luo stay here any longer. He didn't want his uncle to see Jiang Luo dressed like this, and he didn't want anyone else to see him either.
"I'll take you," Gu Shiyue said.
"No need, no need, I'll just take the subway."
"I told you I'd give it to you."
"……good."
"Let me change my clothes."
Gu Shiyue didn't want Jiang Luo dressed like this to be in the same room as his uncle, so he said directly to Liang Siheng, "Uncle, go to your room and rest."
"I haven't even showered yet, what am I supposed to rest for—" Liang Siheng quickly realized what was going on and sneered, "You little brat, you're ordering me around now."
"It's not an order, it's a suggestion."
"What if I reject this proposal?"
"Rejection invalid."
Liang Siheng chuckled briefly. He knew his nephew's personality best; he was arrogant and stubborn, even more so than his father in terms of assertiveness. He had always spoiled him, never refusing to listen to his every word or request from childhood.
"Why didn't you suggest I just leave?" Liang Siheng took out a cigarette case from his pocket, pulled out a cigarette and put it in his mouth.
"Not suitable."
"And what else do you think is inappropriate?" Liang Siheng chuckled, a cigarette dangling from his lips, and turned to walk towards the study. He was wearing a suit with a wool overcoat over it. He took off the overcoat and draped it over his arm, his back to them, and said, "Drive carefully."
Liang Siheng did not return to the bedroom, but went into the study instead.
Gu Shiyue went back to his room to change into his outer clothes. When he came out, he was carrying a jacket. Jiang Luo's dress was short-sleeved, and the temperature difference between day and night was large, with the nighttime temperature quite low. He told Jiang Luo to put on the jacket, and then the two of them went to the underground parking lot together.
Jiang Luo isn't going back to school today; he's going directly to Cheng Jiashu's place.
"Why would you go to his place?" Gu Shiyue asked.
"I changed my clothes at his place. I need to change before I go back to my dorm."
Gu Shiyue's home was not far from Cheng Jiashu's place, just a few minutes' drive away, and the two remained silent the whole way.
Forget about talking, Jiang Luo even had difficulty breathing normally when she was alone with Gu Shiyue.
The car stopped at the entrance of the residential area. Jiang Luo's skirt was quite puffy, and he fumbled around for a while but couldn't find the seatbelt buckle. Gu Shiyue turned his head and glanced at it, then reached over and pressed the buckle next to the car seat. Jiang Luo fumbled around and accidentally touched Gu Shiyue's finger. He recoiled as if he had been electrocuted.
"Do I have thorns on my hands?" Gu Shiyue asked.
Jiang Luo shook his head quickly. He wanted to get out of the car as soon as possible. Just as he grabbed the door handle, he heard a soft "click" and the car door was locked.
Jiang Luo turned and glanced at Gu Shiyue.
"Finish what you have to say before you leave," Gu Shiyue said.
Jiang Luo asked in a low voice, "W-what did you say?"
"You said you lost a bet, that's why you dressed like this."
Jiang Luo nodded vigorously: "Yes."
“Since it’s not something you like, you’d better not dress like that again,” Gu Shiyue paused, then emphasized, “in front of others.”
Jiang Luo was stunned for a moment, then remained silent.
Gu Shiyue turned to look at him: "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Jiang Luo snapped out of her daze and nodded in agreement without thinking: "Okay."
Gu Shiyue unlocked the car, and Jiang Luo opened the door and got out. He stood outside the car for a while, his hand on the door handle, looking at Gu Shiyue.
"Senior," Jiang Luo asked softly, holding her breath, "then... is it okay if I'm in front of you?"
Jiang Luo was stunned after asking himself the question. He wasn't sure if Gu Shiyue had heard him. He quickly closed the car door, turned around and ran away, still wearing Gu Shiyue's coat.
Jiang Luo knew the door lock code for Cheng Jiashu's rented room. He opened the door and went inside. After closing the door, he turned around and leaned against the door panel, his heart still pounding.
He clutched his chest, unable to control his racing heartbeat.
"Where have you been feeding the cat? It's been taking you so long," Cheng Jiashu walked over, holding a plate of melons. "I thought you weren't coming back to my place."
Jiang Luo was wearing an oversized coat, which was clearly not his own.
"Whose clothes are you wearing? Yue Ge's?"
Jiang Luo then realized he was still wearing Gu Shiyue's coat. He glanced down at it but didn't say anything.
"What's wrong with you? Are you stupid? Why aren't you saying anything?" Cheng Jiashu walked over and stuffed a slice of honeydew melon into his mouth.
Jiang Luo chewed absently, "Hmm...it's his."
"Isn't he not home?"
"We came back relatively early."
Cheng Jiashu belatedly realized, "Holy crap, so he bumped into you?"
"...Yes, I ran into them." Jiang Luo changed her shoes and went inside.
What was his reaction when he saw you? Was he stunned?
"No... reaction." Jiang Luo walked towards the bathroom.
Cheng Jiashu followed behind him: "Really? Didn't he get a shock when he saw you?"
Jiang Luo turned to look at him, her expression somewhat speechless.
Cheng Jiashu laughed: "Just tell me the truth already, I'm so curious."
"He really didn't react much; he was very calm."
"Tsk tsk, as expected of him."
Jiang Luo took off his wig, removed his makeup, and changed his clothes in the bathroom. By the time he finished getting ready, it was already past ten o'clock. He hadn't even taken a shower yet. When he came out carrying his clothes and wig, Cheng Jiashu was lying on the sofa and said, "Are you still going back to school? Just sleep here. It's so late, and you don't have any classes tomorrow."
Jiang Luo thought for a moment and said, "That works too."
Anyway, this wasn't the first time he'd slept at Cheng Jiashu's place. Cheng Jiashu rented a suite, which, although not very big, had two bedrooms and a living room, with a second bedroom. Jiang Luo would sometimes stay there if he stayed up too late playing games with him.
When Gu Shiyue arrived home, Liang Siheng had already taken a shower and put on his bathrobe. He was rummaging through the refrigerator in the kitchen with a cigarette in his mouth, but he didn't find any food that could be eaten directly.
Cotton was slumped on a chair in the restaurant. On the table sat a bottle of red wine and a wine glass. Liang Siheng, with a cigarette between two fingers, picked up the wine bottle, poured some into the glass, and instructed Gu Shiyue, "Get me something to eat, I'm starving."
"Smoking after a shower." Gu Shiyue snatched the cigarette from his hand, turned on the tap to extinguish the cigarette butt, and threw it into the trash can. "Didn't you have dinner?"
"You've only been drinking, haven't eaten much." Liang Siheng picked up his wine glass and swirled it. "Give me a steak."
Gu Shiyue opened the refrigerator and took out a steak. Liang Siheng took a sip of wine, squinted at the cotton ball lying on the chair, and said, "Has this cat gotten fat again?"
The cotton ball meowed and flicked its tail forcefully.
"He's plump and healthy, but full of energy; the old man is getting younger and younger," Liang Siheng said.
Cotton Ball is indeed a little old man by cat age. It belongs to Gu Shiyue's mother and is over ten years old. Gu Shiyue takes very good care of it.
Gu Shiyue was preparing ingredients when Liang Siheng walked up to him with a wine glass in hand: "Shouldn't you tell me what happened today?"
"You still have the time to worry about this?"
"The main thing is that the surprise you gave me today was a bit beyond my expectations." Liang Siheng took a sip of wine, paused for a moment, and asked, "How so? Do you like this kind of thing, or does the other person like it?"
Gu Shiyue turned to look at him. Liang Siheng was old enough to have seen it all; the question he asked wasn't exactly serious.
Liang Siheng couldn't help but laugh. Of course, he knew that the situation was not as he thought. The child looked like he had nothing to do with his nephew. He was a pure and well-behaved young man.
“He’s quite good-looking, and he’s a pretty boy too,” Liang Siheng said.
Gu Shiyue said calmly, "Even more beautiful."
Liang Siheng couldn't believe that his nephew could say such a thing. He scoffed, "Much cuter than you, so well-behaved."
Gu Shiyue hummed in agreement.
Liang Siheng suddenly remembered something, picked up the asparagus from the kitchen counter and tapped Gu Shiyue on the head: "I haven't even said anything to you yet, you're even jealous of me."
