Chapter 63: Heartbeats Sixty-three "Didn't you say I was fast?"...
"I'm sorry, Mr. Jiang, I don't quite understand. Who are you referring to as Mr. Su?"
Jiang Zhixiang crossed his arms, "Su Ji."
Wen Huai nodded, took out a tissue and wiped it. "Boss Su helped me before, but unfortunately we haven't been in touch in many years. I hope Boss Jiang can give Boss Su my regards."
Jiang Zhixiang narrowed his eyes slightly.
Wen Huai's words were polite and distant, completely distancing herself from Su Ji's relationship without denying their acquaintance. She took a step back to advance, seemingly answering Jiang Zhixiang's words, but in fact, she was using softness to overcome hardness, cleverly avoiding the sensitive topic.
This was just her test, and she was obviously very satisfied with the result.
The corners of Jiang Zhixiang's stern lips curled up slightly, "Don't worry, I will definitely convey your message."
"If there's nothing else," Wen Huai threw the tissue into the trash can. "My husband is waiting for me downstairs. I'll go first."
"etc."
The crisp sound of high heels rang out again. This time, she and Wen Huai were face to face. "Have you ever thought about changing the environment?"
Wen Huai was slightly surprised. He looked at Jiang Zhixiang's expression and couldn't guess what she was going to do.
"I've checked your information. You graduated from a prestigious university, have excellent work experience, and have successfully handled several projects. You're a smart person."
Jiang Zhixiang didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "EF Department 2 is short of a general manager. President Su and I hope you can come."
Wen Huai opened his mouth and his hand sank.
Jiang Zhixiang tapped her phone and said, "No need to reply so quickly. If you think it through, please contact me or President Su."
She had already turned around, "See you next time."
Wen Huai looked at the friend's approved request on his phone, returned, locked the screen, and left.
The wind blew at night, and the thick, dark clouds were very close to the ground, as if they would fall down at any second.
In the high-end box of a club in North City, the lights are bright, the singing is lingering, and the atmosphere is not affected by the weather at all.
As the wine glasses were pressed against the table, the noisy singing disappeared and the lively box became silent in an instant. No one dared to speak.
The man sitting on the center sofa exhaled white smoke, extinguished the sparks on his fingertips, and looked at the people around him with narrow eyes, "Mr. Sui, it's great to see you here. I'm sorry for not welcoming you."
Sui Jianwen smiled wryly and raised his glass. "Boss Ming, you must be joking. You've been on a business trip these past few days. I finally get to see you today."
Ming Zhenlian sneered, "Boss Sui, do you want to talk to me about something?"
"No..." Sui Jianwen coughed, "Yes, it's the money from last time... Maybe because the staff are too busy, it hasn't arrived yet. I wanted to ask if you forgot?"
"I haven't forgotten." Ming Zhenlian's gloomy eyes flashed with a cold light, "I won't give it to you, will I?"
"No, Mr. Ming, why? Didn't we agree that I would provide you with the top internal technical information, and you would give me—"
"When did you say that?"
In the box, all the accompanying girls left, leaving only a few bodyguards from Ming Zhenlian.
They gathered around without any prior arrangement, guarding the gate and Sui Jianwen.
It seemed that as soon as he made any move, he would be subdued by the burly bodyguards in an instant.
Sui Jianwen frowned: "What do you mean? You want to break the contract?"
"Get it straight, okay? We originally agreed that you would give me valid information, but look at how many times have you been right? Sui Jianwen, I'm afraid you've accepted Xu Youjing's favor and are playing tricks on me with him, right?"
"You misunderstood, President Ming. How could Xu Youjing... I didn't do that. I was framed! It's all Xu Youjing's fault for setting up defenses in advance, and that Wen Huai. The two of them were in cahoots with each other. If it weren't for Wen Huai, Xu Youjing wouldn't have intervened in the Wang Luren incident. And as for the Qiao Mian incident, if Wen Huai hadn't opposed terminating the contract immediately, I'm sure Li Qicheng would have stood by me and helped me speak. But it was because of that Wen Huai! Yes, it was her. Xu Youjing pursued her, so he would definitely try to please her and naturally follow her wishes, President Ming!"
"Wen Huai?" Ming Zhen chewed on the name, vaguely remembering it. "The one under your father?"
"Yes, that's her. She's been with my dad for five or six years! With her around, she feels like there won't be any accidents at the top!"
After a moment of silence, Ming Zhenlian asked, "Female?"
"yes!"
The low laughter hit the ground along with the sound of rain, creating ripples in the puddles and spreading a chill.
Taking a towel to wipe his hands, Ming Zhen was at a loss whether to laugh or cry: "Mr. Sui, what can I say about you? A woman, wouldn't it end with just a flick of her finger? Why would you let her hold you back?"
"But...but you don't know, Xu Youjing seems to be pursuing her, I really don't dare-"
Ming Zhenlian's patience ran out. "If you're afraid of a tiger, lure it away from the mountain. What's so difficult about that?"
"I'll ask him out in a couple of days. You don't need me to teach you the rest. Do a good job this time and don't let me down."
-
The rain outside the window was getting heavier, as if it was going to swallow up the entire North City.
Wen Huai turned his gaze from the documents in his mailbox to the rain-stained glass. Aside from a few scattered beams of light in the yard, the only other things he could see were the dark shadows of the trees.
Inexplicably low.
After breathing a sigh of relief, Wen Huai turned his attention back to the document that Jiao Xiaolin had sent him ten minutes ago and continued working.
“Knock, knock.”
There were two knocks on the door, and Xu Youjing pushed it open and came in. "The noodles are ready."
"Okay, wait a moment." Wen Huai checked the data he had just entered, frowning.
Xu Youjing sat down next to her and noticed that her feet were on the ground with slippers on both sides. He bent down without hesitation and put on her shoes.
Wen Huai noticed and looked over, and the latter said, "The ground is cold."
The temperature has been dropping at the end of September, and it is not yet time for heating in the north city. Although there is air conditioning and heating, the floor is cold.
She nodded, not saying she liked it, "Thank you."
He glanced at her computer and asked, "A project from the Second Technical Department?"
"Yes. I'm helping Secretary Jiao. She had dinner out on her birthday today and didn't bring her computer. Mr. Sui needs it urgently."
Xu Youjing was silent, his eyes sweeping across the time in the upper right corner.
Two minutes passed, and Wen Huai showed no sign of ending the conversation. He put down his phone and said, "Give it to me. Go eat some noodles. They'll be clumping up soon."
She was slightly surprised, "You help me do it?"
Xu Youjing stared at her leisurely, "Don't you trust me?"
"No, I just don't think it's good. After all, this is my job."
"That's Jiao Xiaolin's job," he corrected. "She can delegate it to others."
Taking the computer with his other hand, Xu Youjing pulled the person out of the study.
"I'm next to you, tell me if anything is wrong."
Wen Huai curled the corners of his lips and said again: "Thank you."
Xu Youjing slowed down his pace, remembering what he said in the study, and stopped to look at her, "You are so unfamiliar with me, and you still want to thank me."
"Be polite."
He took her hand and said, "You don't have to be so polite with your husband."
Fortunately, the bowl was still hot, and the two sat side by side, one eating noodles while the other worked.
Wen Huai suddenly laughed while eating.
"Um?"
She swallowed an egg yolk and asked, "Why did you put so many eggs in there?"
"I saw you didn't eat much tonight, so I thought I'd give you some more. Eat it, protein won't make you fat."
"Um."
The keyboard sounds continued.
Although Wen Huai could correct any mistakes, Xu Youjing had a 100% accuracy rate and could even add accurate numbers without comparing data, and his speed was much faster than Wen Huai.
When there were still a few noodles in her bowl, he pushed the computer towards her and said, "It's done."
"You're so fast."
Not noticing the change in someone's eyes, Wen Huai stretched his body to look through the bowl.
As her fingertips touched the touch panel, an arm came from the side and blocked the computer, preventing her from seeing it.
Before he could speak, the screen suddenly switched pages, and five large words caught his attention.
"Divorce agreement?"
Xu Youjing thought about it, looked at her, and tightened his grip on her wrist, "What do you mean?"
"It's a misunderstanding."
Wen Huai tried to pull his hand out, but he wouldn't let him.
"Go ahead."
She felt a little aggrieved, "...it hurt me."
When his five fingers loosened, Xu Youjing realized that he had been holding the watch together.
The white wrist was red.
He frowned, "Sorry."
"I wrote this the night before I went to the bar. Although I didn't see Ms. Qiao's 'evidence', I thought you were... very angry, so I thought of drafting an agreement."
Xu Youjing remembers.
When I took her back to her room, there was a packed suitcase.
She is serious.
If he wasn't moved, if Wen Huai believed her lies... the consequences would be unimaginable.
Xu Youjing couldn't help but feel scared, but at the same time he was also glad that he drove back that night.
"I don't use this computer often at home, and I forgot to delete it. I'm deleting it now."
Just as she was about to move, Xu Youjing leaned over and hugged her.
Feeling his strength, Wen Huai pushed his hand and turned it into a hug, "What's wrong? Are you angry with me?"
"No." Xu Youjing sniffed the scent on her neck, not daring to let go, "You're angry with me."
"I'm mad at me for not liking you sooner."
Wen Huai felt relieved, amused by his childish logic.
Letting him hold her, she leaned on his shoulder, "Don't be angry, who knows, maybe Xu Youjing in the parallel universe has a crush on me, and then I will ignore you?"
He let go of her and asked, "When did I ever ignore you?"
"I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about the parallel universe."
"That's fine." Xu Youjing accepted it in just one second. "In a parallel universe, I'll pursue you."
Wen Huai couldn't hide his smile, "Okay."
Their eyes met, and an ambiguous atmosphere rose along with their body temperature.
When the door of the room was locked, it seemed to mean that something was shouting in the darkness.
Xu Youjing kissed her while taking off his clothes, his lips chasing and clinging to hers, not wanting to separate for a moment.
Looking into Wen Huai's eyes, he was obsessed with kissing, getting closer, and clinging to her.
He always felt fortunate that the person he liked had liked him a long time ago.
If possible, he would like to switch roles and be the one who has a crush and suffers.
He didn't want Wen Huai to be like this.
Therefore, Xu Youjing was different tonight than usual. He grasped every point that could make Wen Huai lose his mind, and attacked it like the rain outside the window, constantly hitting the glass as clear as a mirror, without feeling tired every time.
Wen Huai felt really uncomfortable for an unknown amount of time, but someone had no intention of venting.
On the verge of collapse, the usually restrained Wen Huai could no longer control himself, throwing away his rationality and saying in a hoarse voice: "Why are you..."
Xu Youjing slowed down his movements and ran out on purpose.
Even though I felt very uncomfortable, I held it in.
He leaned against Wen Huai's shoulder, breathed, and refused to continue.
"Didn't you say I'm fast?"
He deliberately refused to give it to her, prolonging the battle and making her take back what she said.
Wen Huai's thoughts were in turmoil, his eyes blurry, not knowing where to look. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the unclosed curtains being blown by the air current, revealing the rain still falling outside the window.
She watched the drops of water spread down from the window, changing direction uncontrollably along the rugged lines until they extended to the deepest part.
She closed her fingertips and forgot to urge him on. She just looked at the water droplets flowing down from the window again and again, climbing up and falling into the depths, for an unknown amount of time.
Wen Huai had been frowning since she came out of the bathroom. But the lights were dim, so Xu Youjing didn't notice. He put her on the bed and went back to clean the bathroom. Ten minutes later, he noticed her curled up in the quilt.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?" He wanted to turn her around, but was afraid. He held his hands in the air, his body stiff. "Did I hurt you?"
"without."
Wen Huai's voice was very haggard, and she only realized it after she spoke.
It had nothing to do with Xu Youjing. Except for that one time tonight, he didn't continue. Later, they took a shower together as usual.
Maybe the takeaway at noon was too oily, and the oil and water accumulated, so I just remembered it now and had an attack.
"Maybe I have bloating. I keep wanting to burp." Wen Huai took a deep breath and turned around. "I feel much better now."
"Let's go to the hospital."
"It's really okay. The discomfort just now has passed. I'll be fine tomorrow morning after taking some medicine."
Wen Huai held his arm and begged, "The medicine box is in the study, can you help me get it?"
In the dim light, the breath above my head was not steady.
The palm holding her was burning hot, and the warmth or peace of mind made Wen Huai's eyelids heavy.
"Not showing off?"
"no."
Xu Youjing stopped dawdling and said, "I'll go get the medicine."
After eating, Wen Huai really didn't feel uncomfortable. He leaned on Xu Youjing's chest, listening to his strong heartbeat. His whole body was wrapped in warmth, and he felt sleepy.
Feeling the even breathing in his arms, Xu Youjing's tense body began to relax.
The palm of his hand placed on Wen Huai's lower abdomen left a scorching heat on the fabric. He didn't dare move, fearing that she would catch a cold again, so he only moved his shoulders.
Placing a kiss on her forehead, Xu Youjing gently rubbed her abdomen, not feeling sleepy at all:
"It's okay, you'll be fine tomorrow, baby."
"It will be fine tomorrow."
A sleepless night.
Just before dawn, the heavy rain that had been falling all night finally slowed down.
When Wen Huai woke up, he glanced at the clock and was instantly awakened.
It’s almost ten o’clock!
She lifted the quilt and was about to get out of bed, and met Xu Youjing's eyes on the sofa.
"woke up?"
He put down his computer and came over. "I've asked for leave. I'm going to see a Chinese doctor today."
