Chapter 13 I Can't Wear It

Qi Nuan snorted coldly as he went downstairs and drove straight to his home which he hadn't returned to for many days.

As soon as she got out of the elevator, she found several property management and security personnel standing around her door.

The leading property manager recognized her and immediately came out to greet her: "Great, Miss Qi, you're back!"

"What's wrong?" Qi Nuan was confused. "Is there a problem with my water, electricity, and gas?"

"No." The property manager smiled reluctantly and quickly gestured to the security captain standing nearby to explain.

The security captain stepped forward and said, "Look, we saw a suspicious person on the elevator surveillance camera. He turned into the corridor on your side."

"But when we came up to check, the person had already run away. We saw signs that your door had been pried open, and we were just about to contact you to call the police."

As he said this, he stepped aside, revealing the door behind him with its lock broken.

Qi Nuan was startled, and the first person he thought of was Gu Hui, who had asked him for people and things.

She signaled the property management and security not to call the police immediately and opened the door and walked in.

When Qi Nuan went to live with Lu Yin, she took away the things that were important to her, so there was no need to worry about any major losses.

She checked around and found that the house was indeed rummaged through, in places like cabinets and drawers.

They probably just looked through it and didn't notice anything was taken.

Qi Nuan wasn't sure if it was someone sent by Gu Hui. Besides, nothing was missing, and the case would most likely be left unresolved after she reported it.

"Forget it, nothing's missing. I'll go check the surveillance footage at your place later. Let's not call the police just yet. Thank you for your hard work."

She expressed her thoughts and thanked the community staff.

The security captain glanced at the property manager and nodded. "Miss Qi isn't living here right now. We'll be more vigilant and patrol more often. We'll report any further incidents."

After saying that, he considerately instructed his men to help Qi Nuan replace a brand new mechanical lock.

"Our technology is limited. Please use it first. You can find someone to replace the fingerprints when you come back."

Qi Nuan remained calm, accepted all six original keys to the lock, and thanked the person before seeing him out the door.

Only when she was closing the door did she glance at the security captain twice, seemingly unintentionally.

He was very tall and his build was very similar to those black-suited bodyguards she had seen before, probably the result of long-term training.

However, the way this person looked at her did not have any malice, but rather, it was filled with a hint of respect.

After entering a stranger's house, Qi Nuan felt very insecure, wondering if there were any peeping or eavesdropping devices in the corners.

And I don't know who the person who came to pry the door open was, or whether he was still nearby.

She walked into the bedroom, took out a few necessary clothes and stuffed them into her suitcase, then hurried out.

"bite--"

The elevator opened, and the person facing Qi Nuan was Zhao Yu, Lu Yin's special assistant.

Qi Nuan's house has one apartment per floor. Zhao Yu got off the elevator on this floor, and his destination was self-evident.

Her eyes were full of suspicion: "You... Special Assistant Zhao came to my house, is there something wrong?"

"The new security system and some of the security personnel in this community that were replaced last month are from my company, and the boss is the co-founder."

Qi Nuan still understood the incoherent words: "For example, the security captain?"

Zhao Yu nodded, still looking unhappy.

Under pressure from his boss, he continued to explain: "When the boss came to pick you up for the first time, he instructed him to be extra careful for you."

"Then, do you think the person who came before was sent by the Gu family?"

Qi Nuan followed Zhao Yu back to her home and tried to guess.

"It's hard to say."

Zhao Yu carefully observed the traces in front of the door: "This person's entry technique is not professional, but his behavior is quite cautious."

They opened the door and entered the house. Zhao Yu continued to look around and took out a professional device from his pocket to check whether there were any monitoring and eavesdropping equipment in the house.

"We just had them track the surveillance footage all the way down. He disappeared from the blind spot before he even left the complex. This means he's very familiar with this place and must have scouted it more than once."

Qi Nuan felt a little scared. She had only stopped living here a few days ago, and Gu Hui had just approached her directly. She didn't expect that someone had targeted her so early.

If this person was not sent by Gu Hui, who could it be?

Is his target himself or his younger sister Qi Meng?

As she was guessing, Zhao Yu's cell phone rang.

He answered the call immediately and put the phone to his ear: "Boss, it's me."

Just by hearing this one address, Qi Nuan knew that the person opposite was Lu Yin.

"We've checked, and there's nothing else suspicious. The surveillance footage is backed up and we're checking it carefully."

He briefly reported a few words over the phone, then said a few single words of "yes, yes, okay" and hung up.

"Miss Qi, I just checked and didn't find anything suspicious. The person who broke in might have come looking for the secret key and left without finding it."

Qi Nuan was not surprised that Special Assistant Zhao knew about the secret key. After all, he was the one who went to Qi Meng's apartment to look for it in person two days ago.

Qi Meng didn't have it, and she didn't find it here either. If it was someone sent by Gu Hui, she should give up.

Nodding to Zhao Yu, she motioned him to go out with her and prepare to return to the company.

Zhao Yu glanced at the suitcase Qi Nuan was dragging. "The boss asked you to take my car and go somewhere first."

"But I drove here by myself." Qi Nuan shook the car keys in his hand.

He held out his hand: "Don't worry, I'll ask my brother to drive it back."

Not knowing where Lu Yin wanted her to go or what he wanted her to do, Qi Nuan just thought that they finally had a way to reconcile, so she didn't refuse and handed over the car keys.
