Chapter 14
The moonlight shone on the two people and the strange creature, as if witnessing their death.
Honeysuckle also looked at Su Mu, who was rushing towards her, and said, "Idiot! Run!"
Before she could finish speaking, the giant python was about to devour her.
Just then, a figure flew out from below the cliff. The scabbard at his waist made a soft swishing sound, and a cold light flashed through his fingers. The blade sliced through the air, and the moonlight reflected off the blade. The movement was so fast that it was almost impossible to see. With one slash, he separated the giant python's head from its body. The moment he landed, he kicked the python's head off the cliff.
As Ren Dong looked up, she saw the giant python's head sweep over her head and its body fall down in front of her in an instant. Having narrowly escaped death, she was so frightened by the scene that she collapsed to the ground.
Su Mu tumbled off his horse and scrambled towards Ren Dong, asking about her condition, "How are you, Ren Dong! Are you injured?"
Honeysuckle gasped for breath, then shook her head. "I'm fine."
Seeing that Ren Dong was alright, Su Mu turned to look at the person in front of him and stood up to thank him. Unexpectedly, he fell straight forward as soon as he stood up, but the person turned around and prevented Su Mu from hitting him.
"I forgot that the poison hasn't dissipated yet," Su Mu said, lying on the ground.
Honeysuckle, however, burst out laughing.
"Thank you," Honeysuckle bowed to the man.
The person in front of him was expressionless and did not react to what Ren Dong said.
Seeing that the man didn't speak, Ren Dong said again, "Thank you for protecting me. I have no way to repay your life-saving grace. May I ask what your name is, young hero?"
At this moment, the person tilted their head and remained silent.
Su Mu sat up and exchanged a glance with Ren Dong, muttering softly, "Him? What's wrong?"
Honeysuckle shook her head, carefully examining the person in front of her and discovering that it was actually a girl. "Su Mu, she's a woman!"
Suddenly, the girl in front of him crouched down and moved closer to Su Mu.
As the girl drew closer, Su Mu suddenly became shy. "You...you stay away!"
But the girl still approached.
"You didn't fall in love with me at first sight, did you? Even though I'm not married yet..."
Seeing the girl's state, Ren Dong also became anxious. "Hey! You guys should at least try to find out more about my brother..."
Before the two could finish speaking, the girl took out the wrapped meat buns from Su Mu's arms and started eating them one by one.
Now it was their turn to feel awkward.
"You just want to eat something?" Honeysuckle smiled awkwardly.
The girl devoured the three meat buns in no time, and then Ren Dong squatted down and took out her treasured pastries from her bosom, handing them to the girl.
The girl immediately picked it up.
"What do you think? What if she can't understand us?" Ren Dong asked.
"Huh? You mean she's so capable but can't speak properly?" Su Mu asked, puzzled.
“Look, she doesn’t react to what we say at all,” Ren Dong said, looking at the girl wolfing down her food.
Su Mu nodded doubtfully. "Possibly."
After the girl finished eating, Honeysuckle made a eating gesture towards her and pointed to the distance.
The girl nodded as if she understood.
"She seems to have understood," Honeysuckle exclaimed.
Su Mu looked at Ren Dong with a puzzled expression.
"You mount your horse first and take her to your resting place."
Su Mu didn't understand, but he did as instructed.
Honeysuckle led the horse, while the girl followed quietly behind.
Before long, they arrived at the place where Su Mu was resting. Ren Dong helped Su Mu off his horse, took out some dry food from his pack and handed it to the girl. The girl's eyes lit up when she saw it and she kept putting it into her mouth.
Honeysuckle thoughtfully handed the water bottle to the girl.
"How can she eat so much?" Su Mu felt heartbroken looking at the dry rations he had prepared for so long.
Honeysuckle punched Su Mu, saying, "They just saved our lives, what's wrong with eating more?"
"But how will we get to Dongfang City if things continue like this?"
"It's alright, I still have some left, it should last a while," Honeysuckle didn't dare to make any guarantees.
Honeysuckle suddenly walked towards the girl and squatted down to take a look.
"Jing Tao?" A fine jade pendant hung around the girl's neck.
"That must be her name."
"Then can I call you Xiaotao from now on?"
Jing Tao suddenly glanced at Ren Dong and then lowered her head to eat.
"Later? What do you mean?" Su Mu asked.
"What's the difference between you and a cripple? Of course I need to find someone capable to protect us!"
"Heh, I was just ambushed. Who knows who will protect whom once I'm healed? If you're so capable, let's have a contest when I'm better," Su Mu retorted defiantly.
Honeysuckle ignored it, went to retrieve her luggage from a distance, and then gathered some branches to start a campfire.
When they returned, both of them were asleep, and their sleeping postures were more awkward than the other's.
How could a little girl appear in such a desolate place? And how could she end the battle with a single blow?
Honeysuckle carefully observed Little Peach.
She looked about my age, her hair was casually tied up, and you wouldn't really tell she was a girl unless you looked closely. Her clothes were also filthy. Could she have escaped? That shouldn't be possible, given her skills...
Before she could finish thinking, even honeysuckle couldn't withstand the fatigue.
I was startled awake again by a loud bang.
By the time the two realized what had happened, Jing Tao had already dealt with a bird demon.
Flocks of bird demons swooped down toward them, and Jing Tao killed them one by one with a single slash. When the other bird demons couldn't break through, they flew toward the two of them.
Seeing this, Jing Tao immediately kicked up a tree and flew towards the two of them. She kicked a bird demon to death and then took down another one with a wave of her right hand. She squatted down, picked up Su Mu's sword, and rolled over, slashing and slashing two birds to the ground.
Honeysuckle picked up a burning torch to drive away the flock of birds. Seeing that it was effective, she picked up another torch and gave it to Sumu. Because of the fire, the birds could not harm them.
In that split second, Jing Tao used the birds' bodies to propel herself into the sky, plunging her sword into the giant bird's body. Using the sword's momentum, she swayed and flipped onto the bird's back. The giant bird, startled by the attack, spun rapidly, trying to throw her off. Jing Tao clung tightly to the bird's feathers, letting it spin as it continued its rapid rotation. When the bird relaxed its grip, she plunged her blade into its heart. At that moment, Jing Tao released her grip on the feathers, and with a burst of strength, plunged the blade completely into the bird's body. In an instant, the giant bird died and fell straight down. Jing Tao rolled to the ground before the bird hit the ground, landing unharmed.
After the giant bird fell, the remaining bird demons also dispersed.
The two of them stood there dumbfounded, staring at the scene.
"Are you still going to compete with her now?"
Su Mu shook his head in horror.
"No, I'm not competing anymore."
Is this even human?
