Chapter 22
After Jing Tao finished eating, Ren Dong took her back to her room.
"This is danshen, which can improve scars. I'll apply some for you first," Ren Dong said, picking up another bottle. "This is baijili. I'll come back and apply the medicine for you when you go to bed tonight."
As Ren Dong carefully applied the medicine to Jing Tao, her thoughts drifted back to the time when Jing Tao was still at home treating patients before leaving the city. She hadn't expected so many things to happen in just a few days, but thankfully, Xiao Tao was there to protect everyone.
It wasn't until evening that Su Mu returned with large bags and small packages.
Su Mu knocked on Ren Dong's door with the packages in his hands.
"Open the door! Open the door!" Su Muteng knocked on the door with one hand.
"Here you are," Honeysuckle said, opening the door.
Su Mu placed a large bag of things on Ren Dong's table.
"What's this?"
Su Mu opened the package. "This is the Xuan Armor. Although it's made of iron, the craftsmen in Dongfang City have made it lightweight and sturdy. You can wear it under your clothes; it will offer some protection if we encounter danger after we leave."
Honeysuckle picked up the black armor and it wasn't very heavy. "You've been busy with this all day?"
"How is it? I had it specially made, doesn't it fit you perfectly?"
Honeysuckle was somewhat moved.
What's in the other packages?
Su Mu opened another package. "I made one myself. It's a bit heavier than yours, but it'll offer better protection. There are also some other small self-defense items for you to take with you."
Su Mu used Dongfang Jin's name to go out and collect some good things, all of which he had never seen before. After all, if it weren't for Jing Tao's appearance that time, he and his sister would not have had the chance to live to this day, and he didn't want to go through that situation again.
"I was thinking of getting one for Jing Tao too, but then I thought she probably wouldn't really need one."
Honeysuckle pondered for a moment, "That's true. With her skills, unless it's a high-level demon, nothing should be able to get close to her."
"Then you should go and rest. I'll go back to my room too. We'll set off the day after tomorrow."
Honeysuckle nodded and saw Sumu out of the house.
They slept soundly through the night, covered with the finest silk quilts.
The next day, Ren Dong got up early and went to Dongfang City for a stroll. In just two days, with the help of the Dongfang family, the damaged houses had gradually been restored. Ren Dong couldn't help but marvel at the Dongfang family's strength.
Ren Dong went to a tailor shop that hadn't been damaged and bought two sets of clothes for Su Mu and herself. Although they didn't have much silver left, it was still enough to buy two sets of cloth clothes, since their clothes were somewhat damaged after the previous incidents. Unexpectedly, when Ren Dong went to pay, she was told that because Dongfang City was damaged due to Master Dongfang's birthday, all expenses in Dongfang City for the next month would be reimbursed by the Dongfang family. Ren Dong was shocked and opened her mouth wide.
Just how much money does the Dongfang family have?
Seeing this, Ren Dong grabbed all the snacks from the snack stalls and happily brought them back to Dongfang Mansion for Jing Tao.
Jing Tao ate honeysuckle while packing her luggage.
Honeysuckle filled Jingtao's package with dry food and some pastries and snacks that could be stored for a long time.
Meanwhile, Su Mu found a demon-slaying master from the Eastern Prefecture for a duel.
Within ten moves, Su Mu was defeated.
"As expected of the demon-slaying masters from the Dongfang family, they are indeed formidable."
The man cupped his hands in apology, saying, "You flatter me, Young Master Zhao, but we are still far inferior to Miss Jing Tao."
Su Mu nodded in agreement. "There's nothing we can do about it. Jing Tao is indeed much more capable than us."
"Then why doesn't Young Master Zhao ask Miss Jing Tao to teach you?"
"Ah? That reminds me. But how can she teach me if she can't speak?" Su Mu fell into deep thought. How could he ask Jing Tao to teach him how to communicate with her? That was a problem!
In the evening, Master Dongfang gathered everyone for a dinner party.
"I heard that Young Master Zhao is leaving tomorrow?"
Su Mu nodded. "Thank you for your hospitality these past few days, Master Dongfang."
"I've been busy with the construction of Dongfang City these past few days and have neglected you all. I don't know if my son has properly thanked you all."
“Young Master Dongfang is so good to us,” Su Mu winked at Dongfang Jin.
"That's good, that's good. Someone, bring the food!"
One by one, the maids brought dishes to everyone's side.
This banquet was held in the garden of the Dongfang Mansion. While enjoying the banquet, there was singing and dancing. One after another, gorgeously dressed dancers danced gracefully in the center of the crowd. The lead dancer was so beautiful that she was beyond description. She wore a flowing skirt with long sleeves and silver threads wrapped around the hem. The skirt spread out like flowing water and shimmered with light. As the drumbeats sounded, she leaped up with her toes, her red dance dress drawing a beautiful arc in the air. The jade belt around her waist was loosely tied and swayed gently with the twist of her waist. She lowered her eyes and spun around. Her flowing sleeves swept across the ground. Every movement was as soft as flowing water under the moon, charming but not seductive, beautiful but not vulgar.
Su Mu had never seen anything like this before, and stared intently at the dancer.
Feeling ashamed, Honeysuckle stepped on it.
Su Mu, wincing in pain, turned to stare at Ren Dong and asked, "What are you doing?"
Honeysuckle whispered a reminder, "Hurry up and eat, don't embarrass me."
Su Mu looked around and realized that everyone else was enjoying their dinner, while he had been staring at the woman the whole time. He lowered his head in shame and silently ate the food in his bowl.
Dongfang Jin couldn't help but laugh out loud; she really hadn't seen much of the world.
Turning to look at Jing Tao, she was eating with chopsticks. Although she wasn't very skilled yet, it was a good start.
Looking at her, he couldn't help but fall into deep thought: they would be leaving tomorrow, and he would be alone in this city again. Although their first meeting had been unpleasant and even embarrassed him, these people were not bad-hearted and were even a little naive. These two days in the manor had indeed made his life a bit more interesting.
Thinking of this, Dongfang Jin couldn't help but feel a little lonely.
All of this was observed by Dongfang Yang.
After dinner, Dongfang Yang called Dongfang Jin into his study.
"They're leaving tomorrow, what are your thoughts?"
"Dongfang Jin has no opinion," Dongfang Jin replied politely.
"I think that little girl is quite skilled. Should we keep her here to keep you company and protect the peace of our Eastern City?"
Dongfang Jin hadn't expected her father to say such a thing. After a brief silence, she said, "No need."
"Why?" Dongfang Yang didn't expect his son to contradict him.
"The Zhao siblings have their own goals, and while Jing Tao is a rare talent, she is, after all, their friend. Forcing her to stay would be immoral."
"I didn't expect you to have such thoughts. Since that's the case, then stay here and don't think about anything else." This wasn't advice, but an order.
Unable to resist, Dongfang Jin retreated.
