Chapter 35

Chapter 35

After examining Jing Tao, Ren Dong instructed everyone to rest where they were.

Jing Tao sat alone in the distance, gazing into the distance, seemingly lost in thought.

Ren Dong confessed to Su Mu Dongfang Jin what she had seen in Jing Tao's dream.

After hearing this, Su Mu and Dongfang Jin fell into deep thought.

The three then realized that Jing Tao's childhood was so tragic, which might be why she couldn't speak.

"But why did Jing Tao become so powerful later?" Su Mu asked.

"And who gave her the name Jing Tao?"

After hearing their questions, Ren Dong didn't know how to answer. "These are probably things Jing Tao has forgotten. Jing Tao should know what happened later, but she doesn't know how to tell us."

The three fell silent. After resting, Ren Dong went to sit next to Jing Tao.

"Xiaotao, I know those memories are painful for you, but don't worry, we'll be by your side from now on."

Jing Tao nodded silently as she looked at Ren Dong, who had been talking the whole time.

Honeysuckle and Thorn Peach set off towards their next destination.

A day later, the four of them found an abandoned wooden cabin in the wilderness.

The three of them went inside and cleaned the place, turning it into a resting area for everyone.

Dongfang Jin was nowhere to be found after putting away her luggage.

Honeysuckle accompanied Jingtao to eat inside the house.

Su Mu took the four people's water bottles to the river to fetch water.

After fetching water, Su Mu scooped up some river water and washed his face. His wet hair stuck to his face, and when Su Mu tidied his hair, he discovered that there were several white hairs among the wet hair. Su Mu panicked and immediately untied the hair tie, letting all his hair fall in front of him. Su Mu kept looking through it and realized that he, who had just turned eighteen, had dozens of white hairs.

Su Mu stood there, recalling the scene of killing Yi Liu, and then remembered what Taotie had said to him.

Su Mu immediately plucked out all his white hairs.

We must not let honeysuckle worry!

Su Mu pretended nothing had happened and went back into the house to hand the water to Ren Dong.

Honeysuckle puts river water into a pot and boils it.

"What's wrong?" Ren Dong asked, looking at Su Mu sitting blankly beside her.

"Oh? It's nothing," Su Mu replied with a smile.

Su Mu looked at Jing Tao and remembered what the demon exorcist in the Eastern Mansion had told him. He stood up, took Jing Tao's hand, and walked out of the house.

Honeysuckle also came out to check.

Su Mu assumed a fighting stance and threw a punch at Jing Tao. Jing Tao immediately dodged and stared blankly at Su Mu.

"Jing Tao, use all your strength!" Su Mu said, and then threw another punch with all his might.

Jing Tao blocked Su Mu's attack with one hand.

Su Mu then realized that Jing Tao's power far surpassed his own.

With a forceful movement of her left hand, Jing Tao flicked Su Mu's hand downwards, causing Su Mu to immediately clutch his hand and cry out in pain.

Jing Tao went back to her room to sleep without looking back.

Honeysuckle took out some herbs and rubbed them on Su Mu's wrist.

"I know you want to become stronger, but that's not something that can be changed overnight."

"I know, but I can't just sit here and wait to die."

Night had fallen, and the four of them finished their dinner and fell into a deep sleep inside the house.

Only Su Mu tossed and turned in bed.

Before dawn, Su Mu opened his eyes, took out his treasured meat buns from his luggage, tiptoed to Jing Tao's side, and placed the meat buns in front of her.

Jing Tao woke up when she smelled the aroma.

Su Mu waved to Jing Tao, who had just woken up, and Jing Tao followed Su Mu out of the house.

Su Mu led Jing Tao away from their residence, carefully put the meat buns aside, and launched an attack while Jing Tao wasn't paying attention.

Jing Tao dodged and swept her leg, knocking Su Mu down. Su Mu immediately got up, but Jing Tao turned around and kicked him in the back, sending Su Mu sprawling face-first into the dirt.

Jing Tao picked up the steamed bun, ate it, and went back to her room to sleep.

Dongfang Jin, who had been secretly watching from the side, smiled, turned around, and disappeared.

Knowing that he couldn't withstand even one move from Jing Tao, Su Mu dusted himself off and entered the forest to start training his physical abilities.

Su Mu ran for two full hours, sweating profusely, his entire underwear completely soaked. He stopped and listened to the sound of water, finally finding a river.

Su Mu took off his clothes and jumped into the water. After washing up, he took his clothes off the shore and washed them as well.

After washing up, Su Mu was about to leave when he turned around and saw another figure at the end of the waterfall.

"Where did these people come from in this desolate wilderness?"

Su Mu walked towards it with doubt, and when he got closer, he saw that it was Dongfang Jin.

He sat half-naked beneath the waterfall, the silvery water cascading down his body. His knuckles turned white from clenching his fists, yet his form remained as still as an ancient pine tree rooted to the ground.

Su Mu was greatly surprised. It turned out that he had been secretly cultivating for the past few days.

Su Mu followed suit, putting down his clothes and walking to the bottom of the waterfall. He gritted his teeth and endured the weight of the water. The water droplets stung his body, and all he could hear was the roar of the rushing water. Before long, Su Mu could not hold on any longer and was swept far away by the water.

Su Mu choked on the water a few times, but still insisted on returning to the bottom of the cliff.

Sweeped away by the water time and time again, it returned time and time again, persevering.

Seeing that it was almost time, Dongfang Jin slowly opened her eyes and returned to the shore to get dressed.

You can't exercise on an empty stomach.

Hearing Dongfang Jin's words, Su Mu, who was lying in the water, climbed ashore, took his clothes, and went back with him.

"Where did you go? Why did it take you so long to come back?" Ren Dong took the wet clothes from Su Mu's hands.

"It's okay, Dongfang Jin and I are going to exercise," Su Mu immediately started eating.

Honeysuckle lit a fire to dry Su Mu's clothes. "So when do we set off?"

Su Mu thought for a moment, then said, "Let's stay here for a few days and relax."
