Chapter 42

Chapter 42

At noon, Chengfeng treated everyone to lunch.

"Where's Su Mu? Why didn't he come?"

“Never mind him, he’s gone to practice martial arts,” Cheng Feng replied.

Honeysuckle nodded.

At the dinner table, Cheng Feng placed the chicken leg into Jing Tao's bowl before Dongfang Jin could.

"Little Peach, eat more, you need to grow up quickly so you can get married." Cheng Feng emphasized the words "get married".

Ren Dong and Qing Tang exchanged a glance and held back their laughter.

Although Dongfang Jin was angry, she wouldn't show it in front of Jing Tao, and pretended to be calm while eating.

Cheng Feng wiped the oil off Jing Tao's face with his hand. "Little Tao Tao, pay attention. I've been teaching you for so long, how come you're still so careless about eating?"

The atmosphere around them had dropped to freezing point. Dongfang Jin put down her chopsticks, crossed her arms, and swallowed her jealousy alone.

Qingtang nudged Chengfeng's foot, indicating that things had gone a bit too far.

Seeing that Dongfang Jin hadn't eaten, Jing Tao awkwardly picked up another chicken leg with her chopsticks and put it into Dongfang Jin's bowl.

Ren Dong and Qing Tang's gazes darted back and forth between the two.

Seeing this, Dongfang Jin couldn't help but smile, and deliberately twirled a chicken leg in front of Cheng Feng.

Chengfeng smiled and said, "Oh dear, our little Taotao has grown up. She knows how to take care of 'guests' now. We've spent these past five years together, day and night, and she's finally learned the meaning of politeness."

The word "guest" effectively shut Dongfang Jin out of Cheng Feng and Jing Tao's relationship.

After finishing her chicken leg, Dongfang Jin put down her chopsticks and left.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Cheng Feng then burst out laughing, "Hahaha, did you guys see that? The way he looked, hahaha!"

"Alright, tone it down. What are you going to do when they leave? Where will you cry then?"

"If he leaves like this, I don't think he cares that much about Jing Tao. Would you be willing to hand Jing Tao over to him?"

Qingtang nodded in agreement. "That's true."

"This kid's martial arts are pretty good; I need to find a way to get him to become my disciple."

"Let me think of a way."

"Hehe, then I'll leave it to you, Qingtang. From now on, I'll always be one step ahead of him."

Qingtang rolled her eyes at Chengfeng.

night.

Exhausted, Su Mu returned to his room, only to find that Ren Dong was already waiting for him inside.

How was your day?

"I'm very tired, but I can persevere."

Honeysuckle massages Su Mu's body.

On the other side.

Dongfang Jin sat alone in the courtyard.

Qingtang saw it and went over.

Why are you here all alone?

Can't sleep

Why can't I sleep?

"Unaccustomed to the local environment"

"Oh, I thought you couldn't sleep because of Chengfeng and Jingtao."

What's going on between them?

"You want to know?"

"Yes, I also want to know everything that happened to Jing Tao."

That goes back five years.

I live in a wooden house outside the city. Later, when I was washing clothes by the river, I found Jing Tao. She was covered in blood and lying on the bank. She must have been washed ashore. I went over and checked her breathing. I found that she was still breathing, so I saved her. I checked her body and found that she only had some small wounds. I went out and picked some herbs to apply to her wounds.

Not long after, Jing Tao woke up. I immediately went to check on her, but she kept avoiding me. I forced my way closer, and she bit my arm. I stroked her head and comforted her until my arm bled, but she wouldn't let go. I don't know if she realized I meant no harm or if she was just tired, but she finally let go. I slowly approached her, hugged her, and gently patted her until she fell asleep. Then I started a fire and cooked some food. I woke her up and brought the bowl to her, but she didn't move. I took a bite with my chopsticks and then handed the bowl to her. Only then did she start eating, using her hands to put the food in her mouth. For the next few days, she would only eat if I brought the food to her.

When I checked her wound, I found it was almost healed. I was about to go out to collect some firewood when I found out she was following me. I kept talking to her and realized she couldn't speak, but she could understand some simple gestures. We spent more than a month together peacefully.

During this time, she would help me move firewood and start a fire, but she often couldn't control the heat, which was still quite cute.

On an ordinary day, she and I went mushroom picking in the mountains. Suddenly, a wolf demon came running from a distance and pounced on us. I told Jing Tao to run away quickly, but she seemed to be frozen in fear and stood there without moving. I had no choice but to pull her away and run, but how could our speed match that of the monster? The wolf demon pounced on me and knocked me to the ground. Just as it was about to bite me, Jing Tao pounced from the side and took the wolf demon away from me.

I shouted at Jing Tao to run away, but she picked up a stone and kept throwing it at the wolf demon. Then she glanced at me and ran away into the distance. The wolf demon must have been enraged by Jing Tao and chased after her.

I struggled to my feet and limped after him, shouting for help as I ran. Suddenly, I heard the sound of hooves. I looked back and saw a man dismounting and asking me what had happened. I told him what was going on, and he carried me on his back and ran towards Jing Tao. His long legs moved with steady and powerful strides, and his speed was in no way inferior to that of the wolf demon.

Before long, they caught up with Jing Tao.

The wolf demon pounced on Jing Tao and knocked her to the ground, its thick claws poised to take her life.

The man immediately drew his sword and stepped forward. In the blink of an eye, the wolf demon's head fell to the ground, and blood splattered all over Jing Tao's face. Jing Tao screamed. It was the first time I had ever heard Jing Tao's voice, filled with panic and unease. I immediately went forward and hugged Jing Tao to comfort her.

When the man saw that we were injured, he took us to the Lan residence. Later I learned that he was Chengfeng.

I stayed by Jing Tao's side the whole time. She woke up after half a day. Cheng Feng called a doctor, who said that Jing Tao was just a little frightened and would be fine after a few days of rest.

On the very day we left the Lan residence, Mr. Lan and Cheng Feng bumped into each other. Jing Tao was probably a little agitated. When she saw Mr. Lan wearing a tiger mask, she pounced on him like a madwoman. Cheng Feng was also startled and stepped forward to stop Jing Tao, but Jing Tao dodged Cheng Feng's grab with a flip. Mr. Lan told Cheng Feng to step back and then played with Jing Tao.

Jing Tao attacked Mr. Lan haphazardly, but Mr. Lan did not harm her. After a few moves, he captured Jing Tao and rendered her unable to move.

Cheng Feng stepped forward and explained that Jing Tao had attacked him because she was provoked. Mr. Lan smiled and said that Jing Tao was very talented. He asked if I wanted Jing Tao to become his apprentice. Cheng Feng was also surprised.

Who is Mr. Lan? He is the number one demon slayer in the world. I immediately nodded in agreement. Then I explained to them that Jing Tao cannot speak, but Mr. Lan said that martial arts training does not rely on the mouth.

Cheng Feng brought Jing Tao to the training ground of the Lan family, untied her ropes, and kicked her. Jing Tao clutched her stomach and curled up on the ground.

Cheng Feng said to Jing Tao, "This is punishment for her disrespecting Mr. Lan."

Jing Tao clutched her stomach, stood up, and launched an attack on Cheng Feng, but was repeatedly knocked down by him.

After fighting for an unknown amount of time, Cheng Feng seemed to be getting impatient, cursing Jing Tao for acting like a madman.

It wasn't until Jing Tao was beaten unconscious that Cheng Feng let me take her back to her room.

The next day, Cheng Feng brought over the food, and Jing Tao immediately hit him upon seeing it.

Cheng Feng kicked Jing Tao's leg, forcing her to kneel down. He then stuffed a steamed bun into Jing Tao's mouth, telling her to finish eating before challenging him again.

Cheng Feng fed Jing Tao bite by bite until she finished eating before letting her go. But the moment Jing Tao gained her freedom, she turned her fist on Cheng Feng again.

For the next year, Chengfeng came to compete with Jingtao every day.

At first, Jing Tao couldn't even withstand a single move, but later she gradually became able to withstand Cheng Feng's attacks. Cheng Feng then brought Jing Tao to Mr. Lan.

I don't know much about what happened after that, I only know that Jing Tao came back from outside very late every day.
