Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Jing Tao felt the power and groggily opened her eyes to get up with difficulty.

"That's great, Jing Tao, you're still alive!"

Honeysuckle immediately stepped forward and hugged Thorn Peach.

But Jing Tao escaped from Ren Dong's embrace and walked shakily toward Qing Tang.

With all her might, she carried Qingtang on her back, preparing to leave this place of sorrow. As she passed the Taotie, Jingtao bent down and tucked her sword into her waistband.

"Wait, Jing Tao."

Jing Tao stopped upon hearing Ren Dong's voice.

Ren Dong walked up to Jing Tao, closed Qing Tang's eyes on her back, and then hugged Jing Tao, saying, "Jing Tao, you must live well."

Honeysuckle knew this would be their last meeting.

He then resolutely pulled out the Taotie.

Honeysuckle walked over to Sumu, checked his pulse, and then checked the others. Fortunately, they could all be saved.

Two days later, Dongfang Jin woke up.

"You're awake, Dongfang Jin."

Dongfang Jin nodded and looked around, finding Su Mu lying beside her. She immediately asked, "Where's Jing Tao?"

Jing Tao is gone.

"Gone? Where did they go?"

"I have no idea"

Dongfang Jin threw off the covers and immediately got dressed.

"You can't leave yet; your injuries haven't healed."

Ignoring Ren Dong's objections, Dongfang Jin dressed neatly, picked up her sword, and walked towards the door. "How long has she been gone?"

It's been two days.

"I'm going to find her. Goodbye."

Ren Dong knew she couldn't stop Dongfang Jin, so she had no choice but to let him go.

Dongfang Jin walked out of the Lan residence and found that no one was left there.

Dongfang Jin took out the marriage certificate from her bosom and found that it was covered in blood.

This was left behind by Jing Tao when she shielded him from the sword.

The entire sheet of Xuan paper was stained red with Jing Tao's blood, as if repeatedly proclaiming her willingness. Dongfang Jin smiled as she looked at the marriage certificate.

"I'll take that as a yes, Jing Tao. Wait for me, I will definitely find you."

Su Mu was also awakened by the two people's voices.

"Su Mu, you're awake."

Honeysuckle helped Sumu to his feet.

"Ouch, that hurts! How long have I been asleep?"

It's been two days.

Su Mu rubbed his head.

"And what about them?"

"Chengfeng woke up a day ago. After burying Lan Jueming's body, he dismissed all the demon hunters, but some loyal ones still followed him on his demon-hunting journey."

"Oh, what about Dongfang Jin and Jing Tao?"

"Jing Tao left right away, and Dongfang Jin, who had just woken up, said she was going to find her."

Su Mu nodded. "Does he know where to look?"

Who knows?

"It seems my wish still hasn't been fulfilled."

"Who said that? You're already the most powerful demon slayer in my eyes."

Looking at Ren Dong's smiling face, Su Mu no longer had any obsession with being the best in the world.

"Okay, let's go home then. It's been so long since I've had Mom's cooking."

"Okay, I'll go pack my luggage now."

Half an hour later.

The two took one last look at the entrance of the Lan residence before turning and leaving.

For the next three days, the two chatted and laughed, talking about everything that had happened along the way, as if they were in a dream.

"Do you think Dongfang Jin found Jing Tao?"

"I don't know. Do you think we should take a look at Dongfang City when we pass by?"

"Huh? You lured Dongfang Jin away without even saying goodbye. Going back now is practically suicide."

"Looks like you've gotten a lot smarter lately."

"Of course! Did you think I only trained my body? I've improved significantly in every aspect."

"It's already dark, why don't we find a place to rest?"

"good"

Su Mu helped Ren Dong off her horse and then skillfully arranged the overnight stay, while Ren Dong sat quietly watching from the side.

I want to see the stars.

"Huh? What's so interesting about stars?"

Will you stay with me or not?

"Okay, I'll go."

Su Mu put down his work, found a good spot, leaned against a tree, and closed his eyes to rest.

Honeysuckle also rested her head on Sumu.

"I wish I could keep watching like this forever."

"After we get home, I'll take care of the pharmacy, and you can go out and look at the stars every day."

"What about during the day?"

"Just eat, drink, and have fun."

"very nice"

"Su Mu, do you remember the banshee we encountered before that could put people into illusions?"

"Hmm, what's wrong?"

Do you know what I saw back then?

"What?"

"It was a snowy winter day. Father found a baby girl outside the pharmacy and brought her back to the room. Mother, heavily pregnant, came over and asked what was wrong. Father said she was an abandoned baby and asked if Mother wanted to adopt her. Mother immediately agreed and was very happy, saying that the family now had a big sister. Later, Mother gave birth to you and discovered that it was a boy. So Father and Mother discussed that since the big sister should take care of her little brother, they decided to switch them. So the big sister became the little sister named Ren Dong, and the little brother became the big brother named Su Mu."

Upon hearing this, Su Mu opened his eyes and looked at Ren Dong. "Don't believe in the illusions of monsters."

"Honeysuckle, what's going on?"

Honeysuckle looked at her hands, her skin loose and clinging to her bones, rough like an old tree. She fiddled with her hair, which was withered and white.

Honeysuckle touched her cheek; deep wrinkles spread from the corners of her eyes, and her skin had become loose, but her voice remained gentle.

"Brother, do I look ugly like this?"

Su Mu looked at the aged honeysuckle, who could no longer make a sound, and tears streamed down his cheeks.

"Why are they all crying? They must look really ugly."

Su Mu suddenly hugged Ren Dong, crying as she said, "She's not ugly, not ugly at all. My sister is the most beautiful woman in the world."

Honeysuckle also wrapped her arms around Sumu.

"That's good"

"Why? Why did you do this?"

"I made a deal with Taotie, a deal in which he would never lose out, so he easily agreed. Bro, don't you think I have a great business sense?"

"No, I don't want to!"

"Brother, you no longer need to worry about me not being able to get married."

Suddenly, Su Mu felt his body relax.

"Honeysuckle! Zhao Honeysuckle!"

Under the moonlight, two lonely figures embraced tightly. At this moment, perhaps nothing could separate them anymore.

Jing Tao walked for an unknown amount of time until she reached the familiar riverbank. With all her might, she threw the Taotie into the water, creating splashes as it sank to the bottom. Then, the river returned to calm.

The wooden house, which had been unseen for several years, was now covered in dust.

Jing Tao placed Qing Tang on the bed and then lay down beside her.

Her remaining left eye was gradually becoming blurry, obscuring Qing Tang's figure.

Jing Tao no longer had to worry about going hungry, because she had already starved to death in that wooden house.
