Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Old Li watched helplessly as the deadly spider silk was about to pierce Wu Wei's body.

"Are you kidding me! Captain, you haven't taught me yet!"

A sword blade descended from the sky, slashing directly at the deadly spider silk.

Although it wasn't cut off, it prevented a tragedy from happening.

Wu turned his head in disbelief.

Sappanwood?

Before he could even react in surprise, Wu quickened his pace and rescued all his teammates.

"Captain, I'm here!" Su Mu walked towards Wu Wei with a grin.

"Take them to a safe place," Wu Wei didn't even have time to exchange pleasantries with him.

With a flick of his wrists, he crossed two swords in front of him, assuming a fighting stance.

"Understood!" Su Mu immediately obeyed the order, sheathed his sword, and carried his team members away.

Seeing that his teammates were no longer in danger, Wu Wei also began to enjoy the battle.

Wu brandished his twin swords and ran towards the spider.

The monster immediately retaliated by spitting out silk. Wu Wei had already seen through its weakness.

"You! You're too slow!"

Wu dodged and swiftly descended, slashing at the monster's leg with both blades. The leg immediately disintegrated, and the giant spider, without any support, collapsed heavily.

The monster also sensed Wu Wei's danger at this moment.

It sprayed out a huge net upwards, trying to wrap itself around its body.

Wu then jumped up again.

Do you think I'll fall for the same trick twice?

With hands crossed, the iron horse was shattered and the huge spider web was instantly cleaved into pieces.

In just a few moves, the spider knew its death was imminent, so it immediately flew towards its teammates.

Wu Wei, of course, would not let him go, and quickly caught up with him, leaping onto the spider's body.

It's time to say goodbye.

With both hands cleaving downwards, the giant's head crashed down and rolled right in front of the crowd.

Seeing that the monster had been defeated by the captain, the team members came out to celebrate, and Old Li also walked over with Su Mu's help.

Looking down at his teammates rushing forward, Wu Wei smiled from the bottom of his seat.

Great, none of them died!

Su Mu also looked up at the man he had always admired.

Under the sun's rays, Wu Wei's shadow stretched long and thin. His forehead was covered with a thin layer of sweat, and the contours of his face were warmed by the sun. His usual sharp features had been softened, and even his jawline had become gentler.

"Old Li, I want to become a man like the captain!"

Old Li smiled and replied, "Of course, Su Mu, you definitely will..."

Before the cheers could even finish, the spider's body suddenly exploded! Like a giant fireworks display! Except instead of scattering brilliant colors, it scattered deadly curses.

Wu Wei immediately jumped down, rolled a few times on the ground, and hid behind a thick tree trunk.

The other team members weren't so lucky. The spider's corpse exploded, spewing out venom that landed in puddles on the bodies of the team members Wu had just protected.

Instantly, cries of agony filled the air.

Su Mu had no time to react to any of this.

Didn't we just win? How could this happen?

A huge plume of slime flew towards Su Mu!

Fear rendered Su Mu unable to move.

Suddenly, Su Mu found himself falling backward involuntarily.

"Su Mu!"

Old Li instinctively pushed Su Mu down, wrapping Su Mu up completely.

Human courage arrives before fear.

Wu Wei listened in horror to the cries of agony coming from all directions from his teammates.

The wails were filled with despair, starting as frantic roars and gradually turning into muffled sobs.

Wu Wei's body was frozen solid, unable to move any further.

It wasn't until the surroundings gradually quieted down that Su Mu came to his senses.

"Old Li! Old Li!"

Su Mu helped Old Li, who had shielded him from everything, and cried out, "Old Li! Why? Why!"

The boy burst into tears.

Old Li laboriously reached out and wiped away Su Mu's tears. "A man...crying...why are you crying?"

This action only made Su Mu cry even more desperately, crying her heart out.

For the first time! This was the first time Su Mu had realized the fear of death. His teeth chattered uncontrollably, his throat felt like it was blocked, and every breath he took was choked with sobs.

"If... it weren't for you, the captain wouldn't have been eliminated..."

Words and heartbeats came to an abrupt halt.

"Ah!" Su Mu roared to the sky.

The birds in the forest scattered and fled.

Finally, everything returned to calm.

After crying for an unknown amount of time, Su Mu slowly stood up and walked towards Wu Wei's direction.

Wu sat slumped, tears streaming uncontrollably from his empty eyes.

Images of his time with his teammates kept flashing through his mind.

Su Mu knew that Wu Wei was even more heartbroken than he was.

Su Mu crouched down and patted Wu Wei on the shoulder. "Captain... let's take them back."

His only response was endless silence.
