Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Seeing the demons scatter and flee, Jing Tao pulled the sword from the giant bird's body, threw it to Su Mu, and returned to her original spot to continue sleeping.

Su Mu stared at Jing Tao in disbelief, as if everything that had just happened was already commonplace for her.

Do you think she can teach me martial arts?

Honeysuckle thought for a long time and then shook her head. "She can't even speak properly, how can she teach you?"

Su Mu sighed regretfully.

Indeed, there are always people more powerful than you and mountains beyond mountains. If you don't leave the city, you'll never know that there are so many monsters in this world, and even humans who are more powerful than monsters.

Suddenly, Su Mu thought, "How did you end up here?"

Honeysuckle felt a little guilty when asked, "If I weren't here, you would have been dead long ago!"

"Hey! What's with you sneaking out like this? How am I supposed to explain this to our parents?"

"You don't need to worry about that. You should take care of yourself first."

"No, you'd better go back tomorrow," Su Mu said sternly.

"Go back alone? What if I encounter a monster!"

"But if you keep following me, you'll encounter monsters!"

"Hmph! Who said I'm following you? I'm following Xiao Tao."

Su Mu was speechless after being rebuked.

Thinking about it carefully, if Jing Tao were by my side, I really wouldn't have to worry about danger.

"But she can't protect us forever."

Honeysuckle thought for a moment, "Then let's give her food and have her escort us to Dongfang City, won't that work?"

Su Mu nodded. "That's a good idea."

Honeysuckle found a comfortable spot and said, "I'm going to sleep."

Seeing how powerful Jing Tao was, Su Mu felt at ease and fell asleep.

Without the monsters' sneak attacks, everyone had a good night's sleep.

The next day, Ren Dong got up early and, seeing the two still fast asleep, took out some dry food from her pack.

Jing Tao gradually woke up from her sleep when she smelled the aroma of food.

When Ren Dong saw Jing Tao get up, she handed her two steamed buns and some water.

Jing Tao took the peach and enjoyed it slowly.

Seeing that Xiaotao wasn't wolfing down her food like she had the night before, Ren Dong wondered: How long had she been starving before?

Seeing Xiao Tao's dirty body, Ren Dong took out a handkerchief, wet it with water, knelt down in front of Jing Tao, and carefully wiped her face.

Jing Tao looked at the person in front of her with some confusion.

After Jing Tao finished eating, he carefully wiped her hands and cleaned them. Then he took out a comb from his bag and combed Jing Tao's hair.

Jing Tao just sat there blankly, without any reaction.

"No, your hair is all tangled. We'll have to wash it for you when we get to the city."

After Ren Dong finished tidying everything up, she nudged Su Mu with her foot and said, "Get up!"

Su Mu rubbed his eyes and woke up.

Honeysuckle untied the ropes of the two horses and led them over.

Su Mu tried to stand up and found that his leg was much better. Although he could not do strenuous exercise, he could walk normally.

"Hurry up and pack your things, we need to get ready to leave."

"Oh," Su Mu replied while tidying up. "You wiped my sword for me?"

"You don't even know how to clean up your own sword. If I were that sword, I would have given up on you long ago."

While tidying up carelessly, Su Mu said, "You're the best, okay?"

Su Mu hung the luggage on his horse. "How can we travel with only two horses?"

"I'll ride one horse with you, and Xiaotao can ride her own."

"Why not two of you on one horse?" Su Mu retorted hastily.

"How am I supposed to know if Xiaotao wants to ride a horse with me? What if she doesn't want to and walks on her own?" Ren Dong really couldn't stand this idiot.

Su Mu nodded. "Understood."

Honeysuckle put her own bundle on the table, then came to Jingtao, pointed at Jingtao, and then at the horse.

Jing Tao nimbly and deftly mounted her horse.

Ren Dong smiled happily and, with Su Mu's help, mounted her horse.

Su Mu and Ren Dong sped ahead, with Jing Tao following closely behind.

Around noon, Su Mu complained, "I'm so hungry! Can we eat something before we continue our journey?"

Honeysuckle nodded, Su Mu reined in his horse, and Jing Tao also stopped.

Honeysuckle took out the package and pulled out two big, white steamed buns. She gave one to Jingtao and then divided the other half in half, giving most of it to Sumu.

Su Mu was about to retort when he realized he would definitely be scolded by Ren Dong, so he silently finished eating.

Seeing Su Mu's frustrated expression, Ren Dong explained, "I don't have much food left. If I don't keep going like this, we won't be able to get into the city."

Su Mu nodded.

With one more person, we definitely don't have enough food, and we also need Jingtao to protect us, which is quite reasonable.

After finishing their meal, the three continued their journey.

Thanks to Jing Tao's protection, there weren't even any monsters bothering them at night.

“There’s only one day left of the journey,” Ren Dong said, holding the map.

"But we're running out of rations, so let's save the last steamed bun for Xiaotao."

Although Su Mu was very hungry, he supported the decision.

Jing Tao ate the last steamed bun at night and fell fast asleep, while Su Mu had been hungry all day and his stomach was rumbling, so he couldn't sleep.

Even listening to the sound, Honeysuckle couldn't fall asleep. She rummaged through her bundle, thinking, "If I really can't sleep, I'll take some herbs."

Su Mu asked incredulously, "Are you even speaking human language?"

"There's nothing we can do about it, but it should arrive by noon tomorrow, so let's just bear with it a little longer."

Su Mu rubbed his stomach. "I hope I can live until then."

Jing Tao suddenly stood up and flew out in one stride.

The two were startled by this action.

"Her? Where did she go?"

Honeysuckle shook her head. "She didn't leave because she couldn't stand the sound of your stomach, did she?"

"Huh? You can't blame me for this!"

The two who remained looked at each other, not daring to chase after her. Without Jing Tao's protection, they were afraid of encountering some monster.

However, less than half an hour later, Jing Tao returned with a fruit in her mouth.

"Where did you go?" Honeysuckle asked.

Jing Tao took out a few wild fruits from her bosom and threw them on the ground.

Su Mu pounced on the food as soon as he saw it.

"Wait a minute," Honeysuckle interrupted Su Mu. "Let me check if it's poisonous." Honeysuckle carefully examined the fruit.

“Hey, it’s a bit too late now, she’s already finished one,” Su Mu pointed at Jing Tao.

Honeysuckle said helplessly, "I've looked at it, it's not poisonous, is it?"

Su Mu finished off two fruits in one go, and Ren Dong also picked one up and started eating.

Jing Tao ate one and then went to sleep.

Honeysuckle handed the last remaining fruit to Sumu.

Although Su Mu was still a little hungry, he refused, saying, "I'm full and going to sleep."

Honeysuckle smiled as she looked at the two people on the ground.
