Chapter 21 Preparing Lunch for Children

The next day.

Su Yinwan specifically instructed the nanny to prepare the ingredients, as she was going to cook some home-style dishes and desserts for the children today.

Su Yinwan walked into the kitchen, glanced around briefly, and found that the kitchen had everything she needed.

She took off her apron by the door and put it on, then took out fruit and ingredients from the refrigerator.

She planned to prepare a fruit platter first, with oranges, dragon fruit, grapes, figs, bananas, apples, kiwis, blueberries...

Looking at the variety of fruits in front of her, Su Yinwan suddenly had an idea.

She began to slowly slice and carve.

In less than forty minutes, the fruit platter was ready, full of creative cartoon designs.

Red grapes arranged to resemble ants carrying apples, kiwi trees cut into flower shapes, dragon fruit arranged to resemble fish blowing bubbles, apples and oranges arranged to resemble a domineering little crab, and kiwis, oranges, and blueberries arranged to resemble a peacock spreading its tail feathers.

Looking at the adorable fruit platter, Su Yinwan stretched and expressed her satisfaction.

These plating techniques weren't difficult for Su Yinwan. After all, during her university years, she and Yun He often went to orphanages to make these strange and unusual things for the children when they had free time.

Cooking is a piece of cake for her.

Before Aunt Liu came to Qianyue Bay, she always cooked for herself, and over time, her cooking skills improved a little.

Looking at the ingredients laid out, Su Yinwan glanced at them for a minute or two, and already had a recipe in mind.

Just as she was slicing lotus root, Rong Jing walked in silently.

He hugged Su Yinwan from behind, resting his face on her shoulder, and said lazily, "So Mrs. Rong can cook. We've been married for so long, and I've never had your cooking before. Today, I'm only getting to eat it thanks to the little one. Humph~~~"

Su Yinwan chuckled, "Why are you so petty? I'll cook for you whenever you want. But let me make it clear first, my cooking isn't as good as Aunt Liu's."

"I love anything you make," Rong Jing said sweetly.

Su Yinwan tilted her head and kissed him.

"I sent the auntie home. Could you help me out when you have time?" Su Yinwan pointed to the vegetables that needed washing. "Wash that leafy green, and also prepare the scallions, ginger, and garlic for me."

"I need to make a corn, carrot and pork rib soup first; the kids should like it."

"Also, make a chicken wing and shrimp casserole, kiln-roasted chicken, stir-fried clams, boiled shrimp, steamed fish, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and stir-fried seasonal vegetables," Su Yinwan muttered to herself.

It's almost noon.

Su Yinwan only had two or three dishes left to cook when she began to hear children playing outside.

Seeing that she was too busy, she quickly asked Rong Jing to go out and pick up the children.

When the children saw Rong Jing open the door, they were full of questions. "Isn't this the pretty lady's house? Why is there an uncle here? And who is this uncle?"

When Rong Jing heard them call Su Yinwan "sister" while he was addressed as "uncle," he felt a bit annoyed and said coldly, "Sister is inside. She's busy, so she sent me out to meet you."

Perhaps it was the chill emanating from Rong Jing and his stern gaze that frightened the child.

The most timid boy burst into tears, crying, "This uncle is so fierce! Sister, where are you? I'm scared!"

Immediately afterwards, the other children also started crying.

Anyone who didn't know better would think that Rong Jing, an adult, was bullying a group of children.

Hearing such a commotion, Su Yinwan had no choice but to come out and see what was going on.

They stood there motionless, crying and wiping their noses.

She looked up at Rong Jing, half-believing and half-doubting, and asked, "You didn't bully them, did you?"

"I didn't. They cried on their own. I didn't do anything. Humph~ You don't believe me." After saying that, Rong Jing crossed his arms and turned his back to Su Yinwan like a child throwing a tantrum.

Su Yinwan laughed at his childish behavior and shook her head. "Okay, I misunderstood you. Don't be angry."

After saying that, Su Yinwan ignored him and led the children into the house.

She helped them all to sit in their chairs and placed a fruit platter on the table, saying, "Look at the fruit platter your sister made, isn't it beautiful?"

"That's so beautiful! You're amazing, sister!" The children applauded enthusiastically.

"Let's eat first. My sister will finish cooking two more dishes soon, and then we can have lunch."

After saying that, Su Yinwan went into the kitchen and picked up the spatula again.

Soon, ten minutes later, all the dishes were ready.

Su Yinwan carried plate after plate of dishes toward the restaurant with a sense of accomplishment.

Seeing her bustling about, Rong Jing forgot his anger and went into the kitchen to help.

Seven dishes and one soup, three hours.

After all the dishes were served, Su Yinwan sat down among the children, thinking it would be easier to take care of them. Unexpectedly, Rong Jing, her big friend, insisted on squeezing in next to her.

Su Yinwan ignored him and sat down to peel shrimp, pick out clam meat, and shred chicken for the children, putting them into bowls one by one.

Watching the children eat with relish, Su Yinwan was in a very happy mood.

"Where's mine? Why didn't they peel the meat for me?" Rong Jing squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth.

Su Yinwan watched him being jealous of a child, and a smile curved her lips. "Here, take it."

So she picked up a shrimp and prepared to peel it for him.

Rong Jing looked at the earnest and virtuous woman, his Adam's apple bobbing involuntarily. He put an arm around Su Yinwan's waist and said seductively, "But what I want to eat most is you. Mrs. Rong, can you grant me this little wish?"

"Stop fooling around, there are so many children here, let's talk." Su Yinwan used her elbow to push away Rong Jing's chest that was pressed against her.
