Chapter 6 Cutting Stone

These stones ranged in price from tens of dollars to millions of dragon coins. Gu Yan observed them for a while, pondering how to extract a few good pieces of jade without attracting attention, but it was clearly impossible.

So Gu Yan walked up to a rough stone marked 15,000, looked at the surrounding stones, and then called over a waiter.

"Hello sir, are you looking to buy these rough stones?" A young and beautiful woman in her early twenties, dressed in specific attire, approached.

"Yes, I'll take all five. Open them now." Gu Yan's voice fell. Immediately, people looked over.

"Is this young man from a big family? I saw him wander around for a while and then he picked it right away, and he even opened a five-dollar bill in one go?" a man in his thirties said to his companion.

"In my opinion, he must have been hurt in love, so he came here seeking some excitement, hoping to forget his heartbreak," another middle-aged man said to the first person, speaking with the air of someone who had been through it all.

"Tsk tsk, that makes sense. This guy is definitely an expert. Come on, let's go check the stone. What if it really yields something? Then I'll congratulate this young man on his marriage."

On the other side, after Gu Yan paid, the stone cutter who had been waiting came over, prepared the cutting equipment in the center of the hall, and took the five stones handed to him.

"Sir, how would you like it cut? Would you like to cut the outer skin first or start directly from the middle?" the stone cutter asked Gu Yan.

Looking at all those machines.

"Let's cut this big one straight in the middle, and peel the rest layer by layer," Gu Yan said, pointing to the rough stone that looked like a mound.

The stone cutter immediately started the machine to cut, but after the first cut in half, no jade was found. The stone surface and the outer skin were not much different, and there were only water droplets dripping from the machine. The stone cutter did not stop and continued to cut.

"Hey, I think this piece is ruined. The inside is like a broken rock. How can the rest be any good?" someone said.

Half an hour later, after trying various methods on the first four pieces, no jade was found.

Until the very last piece, which was exactly what Gu Yan was after, after the first cut of the outer skin, there was no trace of jade, which made all the passersby feel disappointed.

Another cut, still no jade in sight. This time, Gu Yan could see that only one layer of stone was left to reveal the jade. A flash of red light appeared beneath the blade, revealing a piece of crimson jade.

"Crimson Flame Jade?" everyone exclaimed in surprise.
