Chapter 15 Thousand Ghost Cave

The next morning, Gu Yan removed the feed worms from his stomach.

"It seems the yield will be very low if we don't replenish it," Gu Yan sighed. Then he put it back into the gourd.

Then they quietly walked towards the black mine, looking at the signs, such as No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4...

"It even has arrows attached. It seems there are quite a few mines here," Gu Yan thought to himself.

So he walked towards the direction marked with a clear X. As he walked, he peered into the ground with his Heavenly Eye. Then he stopped and started digging with his dagger. In less than a minute, he unearthed a stone that looked like it had been dyed black.

After he peeled the stone open, he found a small piece of black jade inside.

"It seems these stones were all imbued with this jade," Gu Yan thought, touching the cool jade. He then continued deeper into the area.

Gu Yan looked at the excavated stone caves and then walked into one at random. The cave was spacious enough for four or five people to pass through without any problem. Moreover, the deeper Gu Yan went, the more black jade stones he could sense with his Heavenly Eye.

When he got to the innermost part, Gu Yan looked at the marks of digging and picked up a hoe next to him and started hitting it hard. But he found that two feet deeper, the rock wall seemed to be very hard.

Then he started knocking on the surrounding stone walls. After exposing the hard stone wall, he smashed it with all his might, only to break a hole. Gu Yan concluded that there must be something inside, so he channeled all his strength and started smashing around. Anyway, no one would come here for the time being, Gu Yan thought to himself.

With a snap, a hole suddenly appeared in the wall, and Gu Yan shone his flashlight inside.

"Where there is emptiness, there must be a universe within. These black jade stones probably originated from here," Gu Yan thought to himself.

So he took a few steps back, picked up the hoe and smashed hard around the small hole. Remembering that the secret was there, Gu Yan worked even harder.

After smashing for more than ten minutes, a hole big enough for one person to enter was opened. Gu Yan went in, picked up a flashlight and shone it around. He found that it was a cave, like a large house without lights, several hundred meters long.

Gu Yan walked to the center of the cave, where a corpse sat cross-legged, resembling an old man.

How long has this person been dead? You know, no one has ever dug this place before, not for at least a hundred years, or even longer.

No one has dug it up for hundreds of years. Could this person be from hundreds of years ago? Then his body should have decomposed long ago. Gu Yan pondered for a moment.

Then, using the Tianya (天涯) tool, he noticed a ring on the old man's finger. He carefully used the Tianyan Jade (天眼玉) to gently pull it off, examined it for a while, and then held it in his hand. It was icy cold to the touch. Gu Yang examined it and realized it wasn't one of those jade rings.

Then his third eye seemed to sense something, and with a thought, it entered the space, which contained hundreds of cubic meters.

There was also a silvery-white stone floating inside, along with several books, thousands of stones gleaming with purple light, and a dilapidated stove.

He couldn't even tell what the remaining items were; they had all turned to ash.

Then a thought struck Gu Yan. He realized that these things had been moved out again. Could these things be used to store items? Gu Yan exclaimed in surprise.

Then he picked up a book, but he couldn't understand a single word on it, so he used his Heavenly Eye to look at it. There was a symbol of a pill furnace on the cover. Under the gaze of Gu Yan's Heavenly Eye, although the words were somewhat obscure, he found that he could indeed understand them, although it was a bit mentally taxing.

I only understood these few words from the ancient text, "Basic Chapters of Alchemy".

Could he be an ancient Qi cultivator? I know from many novels and TV shows that there were many beings like immortals in ancient times, but I don't know if they are true or not. According to legend, those people could move mountains and overturn seas as easily as eating and drinking.

Then Gu Yan picked up another book.

These words are written on the cover: “Basic Refining Chapter”.

So I started reading the ancient texts again. I found some things I didn't understand. Something about manipulating flames to smelt materials.

"How is that possible? This is something only a human could do," Gu Yan muttered to himself.

So he picked up another book, which read "Basic Spells". Gu Yan opened the first page and struggled to read the three words: "Fire Control Spell".

Then he thought of the methods for conjuring fire from thin air described in those two books. Was this something he had to learn? But how? So Gu Yan looked at the fire control technique. After about ten minutes, Gu Yan withdrew his Heavenly Eye with a severe headache. He really couldn't understand what it meant by fire spiritual power within fragmented spiritual energy.

Then he looked at a book that read "Spirit Guiding Technique, Foundation Building Chapter." Gu Yan opened the first page and found an image of a seated person with some words on it, so he began to study it. Within a few minutes, he entered a meditative state.

When he opened his eyes again, he casually grabbed a few pebbles and sent them flying with a whoosh. He felt much more at ease with them, and the ball of gas in his lower abdomen became more solid.

"Could this book be a cultivation method? My goodness. My luck has been incredible lately!" Gu Yan thought excitedly.

Gu Yan put these things into the ring, then took the flashlight and wandered around. When he walked to a wall, he looked at the characters on it, which should be Ming Dynasty script.

Although it is somewhat different from what we know now, there are still similarities. It is also not as obscure and difficult to understand as those books, and you don't need to use your "heavenly eye" to see it.

"My name is Qian Gui, a cultivator in the early stage of Core Formation. Years ago, I fought with someone and was seriously injured, with both my soul and body suffering severe damage."
