Chapter 9 Young Master, When Do We Set Off?

Chapter 9 Young Master, When Do We Set Off?

The village chief nodded and led everyone away, telling her that reputation is the most important thing for an unmarried girl, and she might not be able to find a good husband like this.

Chang Xixi thanked him and closed the door. Dou Shi also came forward and asked, "Who is here so late?"

"Village chief, tell me to be careful. The village has been in turmoil lately. There have been thieves, and a chicken was stolen from Wang Ergou's house up the hill ahead."

After dinner.

Dou carried a bucket of slop and went to the small door at the back of the yard. It was pitch black and she couldn't see anyone. The clouds just happened to block the silver light. Chang Xixi grabbed the oil lamp in her hand and followed her.

There were two piglets in the pigsty. When they heard the sound of people coming, they cried out and stood up.

Dou asked Chang Xixi to light the lamp on the candlestick on the other side and asked her to go out. The room was very smelly and the two pigs were to be sold for money at the end of the year.

Chang Xixi walked out with a lamp. Cold wind blew in, and the old hen that was kicked to death by her sister-in-law was hung under the eaves with its intestines ripped open.

It was wet and still dripping with blood, swaying in the night wind and emitting a bloody smell.

After feeding the pigs, Dou walked to the front yard, wiped her hands, washed the chicken intestines and other internal organs with water, cut them up, marinated them, and put them in the cupboard.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

"There are many wild cats in the mountains. Even though our earthen walls are so high, those cats can easily climb over them and get in."

There are few stars at night.

Mr. Zhang staggered to his feet and saw a dark shadow walking towards him. Then a shining knife was placed on his neck.

All I heard was the dark shadow's muffled voice, like a demon in the darkness.

"From now on, you are not allowed to get close to Chang Xixi again."

"Who are you? How dare you threaten me in broad daylight? Don't you know that I'm the only scholar in Wangfu Village who has a chance of passing the imperial examination?"

The man in black sneered, really ungrateful, "If I strike you with this knife, you won't be able to reach the Yellow Springs Road, let alone become a scholar."

Mr. Zhang immediately felt a chill on his neck, followed by a sharp pain, and something slightly warm flowed down his neck.

"Do you really dare to kill me?"

"It's just killing someone, why wouldn't I be afraid?"

The black shadow spoke domineeringly.

Zhang Xiucai immediately begged for mercy, saying that he would never bother Chang Xixi again. Knowing that she had someone to protect her, he dared not act rashly and ran away in a hurry.

Yinhui poked his head out from the dark clouds, and Gu Rongyu walked out from the darkness on the side, covering his mouth and coughing lightly.

"Yes."

The black shadow immediately responded by clasping his fists and followed Gu Rongyu into the mountain village at night.

The rooster crowed a few times, and Chang Xixi opened and closed her eyes again before entering the space. She took a look at the jewelry and the money she had extorted from Zhang Xiucai.

I have to find a way to make a living. If I live off my savings, I will be bullied sooner or later. As usual, I scooped out a pot of water and carried the teacup to my second brother's room.

"Second brother, I didn't hear you coughing last night. Are you feeling better?" Chang Xixi was confident in the efficacy of her spiritual spring. Ordinary people would feel light all over after taking just one drop.

Just as the second brother was about to stand up, Chang Xixi held him down and poured him a bowl of tea.

After drinking it, the second brother felt that his body was lighter again. His legs, which had no feeling before, were now numb. Chang Hai believed that his sister had indeed found a miracle doctor for him.

I couldn't help but say, "Thank you for your hard work."

After spending a few days together, Chang Hai also felt his sister's sincerity and was no longer as embarrassed as before.

After Chang Hai fell asleep again, Chang Xixi walked into the kitchen and saw the key on the stove. She remembered the chicken offal she had marinated last night and saw the noodles in the cupboard.

Boil water in a pot, cut vegetables and add oil. A fragrance came from the kitchen. Dou woke up and walked out from the inner room. The臊子 below had just been taken out of the pot.

"Mom, I'll make some sauerkraut noodles. Just boil the water and put them in."

Seeing her like this, Dou said nothing more. She picked up the broom under the eaves and swept the fallen leaves that had blown into the yard last night. She let the chickens out of the chicken coop, and they clucked non-stop.

After the noodles are taken out of the pot, use green bamboo chopsticks to pick them up and put them into the bowl, scoop up a large amount of臊子, and finally pour a spoonful of noodle soup on them. Chang Xixi then carries the bowl out.

Dou shook her head. This child still said that she would not marry the scholar of the Gu family. She sent food to him every day. In the eyes of any discerning person, it was obvious that she would not marry anyone else.

As soon as Chang Xixi left, the village chief came to the door with documents and asked when the marriage between the girl from the Dou family and Gu Xiucai would be put on the agenda.

The village chief was very thoughtful and thought that Chang Xixi was just not willing to express her daughter's thoughts last night. It would be better for her to ask Dou Shi, as a daughter is always closer to her mother.

Last night, everyone in the village knew that she and Mr. Gu were in love, and it would be unreasonable not to help this perfect couple get together.

Dou looked at the document and didn't recognize many words, so she had to let the village chief sit and wait for Chang Xixi to bring back the meal.

Chang Xixi walked to the place where she ran into Zhang Xiucai last night. There were obvious bloodstains on the ground. Thinking that the big dog must have bitten Zhang Xiucai hard before she stopped, she burst out laughing.

Evildoers will be punished.

He cheated a weak woman of her money and kept it for himself. How could a man of honor think of that? He would mistreat her even more cruelly the next time he met her.

The dark shadow hiding in the woods saw the smile on Chang Xixi's lips and felt a chill run down his spine.

Before Chang Xixi went to the young master's place, the shadow had already entered the beam from the window at the back of the house. The young master was sitting on the kang, tapping his fingers on the dusty low table.

Dong, dong. On the third sound, Chang Xixi pushed the door open with one hand and appeared at the door with a steaming bowl in the other.

"Hi, you're here today, what a coincidence. I was afraid you'd be hungry." Chang Xixi put the bowl on the coffee table and turned to go to the kitchen. After searching for a long time, she only found a pair of chopsticks that were who knows how old they were.
