1. I want to go home

1. I want to go home

Meow~

A soft meow rang out, and Fu Yunong opened her eyes from the soft blankets. A gentle breeze blew, and warm sunlight shone on the curtains.

She stretched lazily, got up, slipped on her slippers to feed Mimi, and casually tied her hair into a loose bun.

After downing a large glass of cold water, she went to the bathroom to empty her stomach. When she came out, she sank into the sofa and ordered takeout. After looking around, she finally chose half a Peking duck and noted "leave it to the door directly."

After finishing all that, she habitually opened Douyin (TikTok). She had only scrolled through a few videos when a message from her mother popped up—asking if she was coming home for dinner, saying that she had bought some free-range chickens that were especially nutritious!

Fu Yunong declined, explaining that she had just gone back last week, and the subway ride there took an hour and a half. Besides, she had already made plans to meet up with her girlfriends the next day.

That's right, she has weekends off.

The next day, Fu Yunong woke up naturally, tidied herself up briefly, stroked her breasts, picked up her bag and the trash, and went out.

Even though we hadn't seen each other for a while, my girlfriends and I didn't feel awkward at all. We each had a cup of milk tea, laughed and joked, ate and drank, shopped at the mall, took beautiful photos, and chatted about gossip.

They had just left the hot pot restaurant when Fu Yunong felt hungry again, so the group quickly went into the seafood buffet across the street. After that, they ate extremely spicy Jiangxi cuisine and Dai ethnic dishes. Just as they were about to step into the barbecue restaurant, one of their friends heard footsteps and looked a little confused, "Do we really have such big appetites?"

Another close friend frowned, "Yeah... I feel like I can't get full no matter how much I eat today, it's like I haven't eaten at all..."

Fu Yunong's smile froze on her face.

She didn't eat anything...

As consciousness returned, Fu Yunong abruptly opened her eyes, her stomach rumbling and her chest heaving rapidly. After a long while, she exhaled with a bewildered expression.

She didn't go back at all; she's still in this dilapidated warehouse...

She is 26 years old and comes from an ordinary family. She works as an office worker. To avoid her family's pressure to get married, she rents a room on her own, has a cat, and lives a peaceful and ordinary life.

But yesterday, she found herself in this place the moment she opened her eyes. It was eerie and terrifying, so quiet that she could almost hear her own teeth chattering.

As night fell, she huddled in a crevice in the corner of the wall and spent half the night in fear, not even knowing when she fell asleep.

It was just dawn when she struggled to get up and slowly moved to the window. The glass was covered with a thick layer of grime, and she could only look out through a hole in the corner.

The sky remained gray, the ground was scorched and damp, full of potholes, and the air was filled with a pungent smell.

The sky is much brighter today than it was yesterday.

Perhaps it was the dawn that gave her courage; she suddenly felt an urge to go out and explore, but her intuition told her it was best not to act rashly.

A gust of wind slipped in through the crack in the door, and she couldn't help but shiver; it was so cold.

She was only wearing a tank top, a long shirt over it, and thin jeans.

Cold, hungry, and in this unfamiliar place, Fu Yunong's inner turmoil grew wildly like weeds, and she almost couldn't help but want to roar in madness:

Why! Why did she end up in this godforsaken place?!

Suddenly, she seemed to catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye, and she immediately held her breath and stared intently in that direction.

In the open space, a figure swayed unsteadily. As the figure approached, Fu Yunong froze, and then her teeth chattered uncontrollably, and she even forgot to breathe.

She swore it was the most terrifying sight she had ever seen in her life...

It wasn't human, because its skin looked like it had been soaking in water for a long time, swollen and rotting. The most terrifying thing was its face; the flesh was completely ulcerated, and its eyeballs were hanging precariously from their sockets. Its lips had long since rotted away, revealing a set of black and yellow teeth, and sticky pus was dripping from the corners of its mouth down its chin.

Fu Yunong's blood seemed to freeze, her chest felt like it was being repeatedly struck by a heavy hammer. The moment she screamed, she covered her mouth tightly and collapsed limply to the ground.

Someone please save her!

She scrambled back into the corner, praying that the zombie wouldn't find her.

Extreme fear seemed to shut Fu Yunong down, numbing her senses to her surroundings. In a daze, she even thought that it would be better to just let that thing kill her; if she died, maybe she could go back.

The flame of survival flickered weakly at that moment.

Therefore, when there was a commotion outside, Fu Yunong didn't even lift her eyelids.

Fine, come on then. Staying in this godforsaken place for even a second longer is torture. The sooner we die, the sooner we can be reborn.

Suddenly, a suppressed cry of pain rang out.

It's a woman!

Fu Yunong's eyes refocused, and in an instant, she didn't know where the strength came from, so she grabbed a broken iron rod from the ground, kicked open the door, and rushed out.

Come on, you piece of trash! I'm not afraid of you!

She gritted her teeth and followed the sound, turning a corner to find a tall, thin woman fighting with a zombie. Just as she was about to rush over, the woman flicked her wrist, and a dagger pierced the zombie's head with pinpoint accuracy. As the zombie fell to the ground, the woman staggered and collapsed as well.

Fu Yunong's throat bobbed, and after a moment's hesitation, she slowly approached. As soon as she got close, she smelled the stench that hit her right in the head, making it hard for her to open her eyes.

She suppressed the churning in her stomach, held her breath, and poked the zombie's corpse with the iron rod first. After confirming there was no movement, she then touched the woman on the ground.

The woman struggled to open her eyelids a crack, her unfocused gaze falling on her face, and she said in a weak voice, "I...I'm not infected..."

After saying that, she tilted her head and fainted.

Fu Yunong was stunned for a moment, then turned and ran back to the warehouse. A moment later, she came out carrying a tattered burlap sack. She wrapped the sack around the woman and pulled her under her armpits.

There was nothing that could be done; the woman was too dirty. Her clothes, originally of an unknown color, were covered in stains, whether blood or something else, it was unclear.

Fu Yunong dragged the woman to a relatively clean floor and slumped down beside her, panting heavily. She was someone who lacked exercise to begin with, and hadn't eaten or drunk anything for the past two days. Now she was so weak that she didn't even have the strength to lift her arm.

After a while, she finally took a good look at the woman: shoulder-length hair, and although her face was dirty, her well-defined features made her look pretty.

Further down, Fu Yunong sensed something was amiss; this woman seemed unusual.

Her clothes were crisp and thick, covering her from the neck down to her feet completely, with pockets of various sizes; on her feet were what looked like legendary combat boots. Combined with her clean and swift slash…

Fu Yunong stared at the woman's slightly heaving chest, and her despairing heart gradually began to stir again.

If there is even a glimmer of hope, who would truly be willing to die?

The woman didn't look well, and she was completely naked, with nothing usable in this godforsaken place. If she went outside and encountered zombies, given her skills, she would likely be dead for sure.

what to do?

"Sizzle..."

A faint crackling sound of electricity rang out, and Fu Yunong's face turned pale, her hair standing on end.

"Sizzle... sizzle..."

The sound was like a signal of poor contact, sometimes near, sometimes far, and finally it went straight into the eardrum.

"Virtual hypermarket system, activated."

A cold, electronic voice exploded in her mind. Fu Yunong suddenly looked up and frantically scanned her surroundings. Before she knew what was happening, a massive amount of information flooded into her mind.

In an instant, countless words and images piled up before my eyes.

Finally, overwhelmed by the information, she didn't even have time to utter a groan before her vision went black and she completely lost consciousness.

Fu Yunong was awakened by the cold.

It was already dark outside. She gasped as she got up, and when she caught a glimpse of a silhouette beside her, she nearly jumped in fright. Then it dawned on her—oh right, she had dragged a woman back with her.

She reached out and checked the woman's breathing; she was still alive. So she grabbed a tattered sack from the side and covered the woman with it, tucking her in a little.

Then, suppressing her excitement, she closed her eyes on the spot.

About fifteen minutes later, she opened her eyes and a small box appeared out of thin air beside her.

Fu Yunong fumbled to turn it on, and immediately touched a flashlight, which she quickly turned on.

She was even more delighted when she had a light source.

Besides the flashlight, the box also contained a 500ml bottle of glucose rehydration solution and a 100g pack of compressed biscuits.

Fu Yunong quickly unscrewed the bottle and gulped down more than half of it before letting out a long sigh of relief.

Then, she brought the bottle to the woman's mouth and fed her little by little.

Fortunately, although the woman was unconscious, her throat could still swallow instinctively. Although some spilled, she swallowed most of it.

Fu Yunong watched and silently breathed a sigh of relief.

After feeding the woman water, she dragged her to the corner, then found a piece of broken sheet metal about the height of a person and used it to create a triangular space that could barely block the wind.

After doing all that, she broke off a cookie, turned off the flashlight, and stared into the void while eating. With a thought, the system activated before her eyes.

This is a 2D horizontal interface with a cool, tech-blue background. The main layout is quite similar to the electronic menus commonly found in restaurants: there is a search box at the top and a long index of categories on the left. At a glance, there are more than a dozen categories such as [Basic Survival], [Food and Beverages], and [Medical Protection]. You have to scroll up to see them all.

The right side of the index displays images of the products, along with their names, specifications, and prices.

Clicking into each main category reveals more detailed subcategories. For example, clicking on "Basic Survival" will show several subcategories at the top, including Food, Drinking Water, Emergency Medicine, Basic Defense, and Simple Tools. Clicking on the corresponding subcategory will display more specific products.

Unfortunately, only the "Basic Survival" category is currently active; the others require upgrading before purchase, according to the system. The requirements for upgrading to Lv2 are: "Accumulate 1000 points through redemption + 1 Level 2 Crystal Core".

In the upper left corner is her balance, displayed prominently in bold red font: 5 points.

Looking at the dismal score, Fu Yunong couldn't help but sigh.
