0002 Strange
My stomach started rumbling.
She didn't want to order takeout, so she took advantage of the rain to buy something to eat at a convenience store. But the rain got heavier and heavier, and she got hungrier and hungrier.
Never mind, I'd better eat something first.
Tantai Qing watched as she sat down on a high chair in the convenience store, took out a cup of instant noodles from a large bag, skillfully prepared them, and then sat on the chair to wait.
Jiang Jifan noticed someone sitting down next to her. She glanced to the side and saw that the person she had just been helping was staring at her.
She knew she was beautiful, but she wasn't so narcissistic as to think that every man in the world would fall head over heels for her after just one glance.
Tantai Qing had originally intended to discuss the cigarette money with her, but seeing her staring intently at him, the words he was about to say caught in his throat: "Miss Jiang, I..."
Jiang Jifan roughly guessed what he was going to ask, smiled, and then replied frankly without hiding anything: "I just wanted to look at you a few more times because you're good-looking. Anyway, I won't see you again in the future."
The man was taken aback by her honesty.
Jiang Jifan has a bad habit: she likes to tease people with mild temperaments, regardless of gender. Once she gets interested, she speaks arrogantly.
She loves seeing the other person embarrassed and blushing after being teased by her; it gives her a great sense of accomplishment.
The man's initial reaction was as she expected, but he remained calm and composed, as if he wasn't the one being teased.
"Miss Jiang is so humorous," Tantai Qing chuckled.
Jiang Jifan was somewhat disappointed not to see the man's blushing face, but then he felt that something was wrong with him, so he just gave a perfunctory smile and looked down at his phone.
While you're eating instant noodles, let's play a few rounds of games.
She doesn't actually like playing games. She has tried playing popular mobile games like Honor of Kings, but she just doesn't have the talent. At best, she's only a mid-level newbie. The more she played, the more boring it became, and one day she uninstalled it because it was an eyesore.
The only game she occasionally plays is Snake, which is currently open on her phone. Although it's a bit basic, it's enough for her to pass the time.
Seeing that she was engrossed in playing the game, Tantai Qing wisely refrained from disturbing her and quietly sat down beside her, taking a sip of the hot drink on the table.
This hot drink was given to him by the same cashier earlier.
It wasn't that he didn't see the flutter in her eyes, but he'd seen it so many times that he wasn't surprised anymore. Maintaining his gentlemanly manners, Tantai Qing didn't refuse. He never easily embarrassed others, especially ladies.
"Phew...that was close..."
Hearing her exclamation, Tantai Qing turned her head and glanced at her. The woman's mature face was quite different from her slightly childish expression.
She was frowning, her face slightly contorted, staring at the screen with a look of deep resentment, muttering something under her breath.
Because of the distance, he couldn't hear clearly, but he roughly knew it wasn't anything nice.
Her expression suddenly turned panicked, and her two thumbs on the screen swiped frantically.
Sure enough, after a while, she lowered her shoulders and sighed.
The words "Game Failure" popped up on the screen.
"Shall I play a game for you?" Just as I was struggling with this question, the person next to me suddenly said.
Jiang Jifan looked up at him, his eyes filled with undisguised suspicion.
"Can you help me win first place?" she asked.
Tantai Qing had just watched her play a game and had roughly grasped the techniques involved.
He never does anything he's not confident about.
He nodded firmly.
Are rich people just smarter than ordinary people?
Jiang Jifan was skeptical, but then handed his phone to him as if making a bet.
The aroma of instant noodles wafted out through the gaps in the cardboard box.
"Do you mind if I eat?" she asked politely, pointing to the fragrant instant noodles.
Tantai Qing looked up and saw the eager look in her eyes, then smiled, "No problem, Miss Jiang, please eat."
Actually, even if he said he minded, she would still eat it.
Jiang Jifan didn't think there was anything wrong with eating alone. He removed the fork from the instant noodles, opened the foil lid, and started eating.
Tantai Qing's mind recovered quickly. At first, he was a little unfamiliar with the game, but he soon figured out its essence.
Jiang Jifan slowly ate his instant noodles while glancing at him every now and then.
This person is indeed more capable than her; he's still alive.
"Oh!" She pointed to the player leaderboard next to her and laughed, "We're number one now."
Upon hearing the word "we," Tantai Qing subconsciously looked up at her, only to be met with her bright eyes.
Her pupils were bright and sparkling, as if there were stars twinkling inside.
"Hey! Watch out!" Jiang Jifan shouted anxiously as the snake was about to crash into him.
Tantai Qing immediately snapped out of her reverie and focused intently on the game in her hands.
They won quickly and unsurprisingly.
Handing the phone back to her, Tantai Qing smiled slightly at her: "First place."
Jiang Jifan took the phone, looked at it carefully, and found that he was still number one on the historical list. He immediately beamed with joy.
This man's got something special.
"Um, the money..."
"Consider it a reward for helping me win first place!" Jiang Jifan stood up, raised his eyebrows, and smiled, interrupting him.
Before he could refuse again, she picked up the bag and walked away leisurely.
Tantai Qing got up from the bar stool and watched her departing figure before belatedly realizing what was happening.
He was acting so strangely tonight.
He turned around and saw the pack of cigarettes on the table, then shook his head with a wry smile.
It seems he hasn't had a female companion for too long.
